People have no lives.
Yeah, most likely younger players. I could play everquest 16 hours a day in my teens

Even pulled an all nighter in my room unknown to my mom camping a fucking polar bear for jaundiced bone boots

That spawn took me 16 hours to get

I have a gaming pc with a 4090 and 240hz oled but I played 10 hours today on my Steam Deck at 30fps and it was pure bliss. This game is fantastic.

Yeah Persona Games OST are memorable. So far nothing has gotten stuck in my head in regards to music. But I think since it's not set in the real world and is set in actual fantasy world they couldn't do the usual when it comes to making the OST. I'm hoping for some bangers to come though when it comes to music the further I play into the game
Interesting. I find modern Persona game's music extremely good in composition and production, but I don't really like the nonchalant vibe they have. I much prefer 1 and 2's original OST and the oppressive tone that those games had. (But I listen to darker music exclusively so that's probably why I'm biased)
The music in this game has a nice mix of traditional war vibes and melancholic tones which so far have stuck in my head pretty well. The battle songs are bit generic but in a refreshing way. It's nice to hear a game outside a Final Fantasy game with a FF-like battle song.
I think another reason the non-battle stuff resonates with me is how it has a late 80s OAV fantasy type vibe as do the cutscenes. I don't think most people will catch that or relate with it, but it's one of the main reasons I decided to buy the game since I love those.

Same, I'm much slow gamer compare to most people here and I dont wan to get spoiled.
Same.

I only show up in OT after I've done like 60 to 70% of the game lol

Not a lot of stories I care if get spoiled a bit for me, I feel a story must have a wild hook or Mcguffin for me to really, like really care about seeing some element of it in a thread. JRPGs stories are not bad, but their plots are rarely strong enough for me to worry about being spoiled if I see something i shouldn't or something, I guess it depends on the story.

Like Persona 4 had a strong Muguffin with the whole murder thing, so I guess one could see the out come of that as being a heavy spolier or someone added to your party that is a bad guy or something lol

The music in this game has a nice mix of traditional war vibes and melancholic tones which so far have stuck in my head pretty well.
I'm finding myself really liking the music too, but before I put it in some rotation to listen to out of the game, I need to hear more lol

I think it can grow on me lol

Fuck it, bought it and am in it now. Playing on story teller mode as I'll never finish this otherwise.
No worries, games are meant for fun.

Enjoy bruv!

I feel a lot of the art direction is inspired by 70's fashion, from turtlenecks, these floral patters etc I think the only thing I don't care about with the art direction is the typography lol I actually hate it.

I made a similar observation yesterday, shades of Woodstock, Harlem pimps and all that good stuff 👌

Truth, I'm happy I'm not the only one that sees it lol Maybe the art director or concept artist was born in that time frame or was greatly influenced by the styles of that time frame , especially in the pattern designs

This game fucking rules. Still pretty early on, in the first palace after the demo still but really starting to get the hang of it. Mainly with mixing the archetypes. Don't think this is really a spoiler but I would also recommend checking out and buying Intel. I thought it was just gonna give hints to help but some seem needed to complete missions, as well as, give you useful info.

All in all the game is a banger. I see some people saying it's different from persona and I sort of agree. It has a lot of similarities obviously but the things that it changes up really makes it fresh and different. With an easy one just being the overall theme and story.

It’s certainly a lot better than the rubbish that was Visions of Mana. I’m still irked I put 30 hours into finishing that one.

Hey the ost is already on Spotify. Good for Atlus for putting it there so soon.
Sadly that's not the full OST, and just a partial one. The full one should have 131 tracks, and if what Persona Central reports here is true, it will be dropped on streaming In January 2025. :lollipop_pensive:

Atlus has announced that the full soundtrack for Metaphor: ReFantazio will be released on January 15, 2025.

The 5 CD soundtrack will include 131 tracks, and as bonuses will include a travel map poster and a bookmark set. The 61 tracks which were previously included with the Metaphor limited edition have also been adjusted and remastered for this album release.

The partial 61 track Special Soundtrack has also been released today on streaming services today including Spotify and Youtube Music.

Yoo Lyall listened to my ask and implemented a fix for the horrendeous camera sway during dialogue!!!

I have added this option in this test build. Check MetaphorFix.ini to enable it.

having nothing to do I played a part of the prologue from the demo, narratively and artistically very beautiful, very interesting premise, for now (up to the mines) everything works.
but it is "exactly" the same as their previous works and if I have to be honest, the awakening of both the protagonist and strohl are really mid if not terrible compared to the past, in p5 writing, music, staging were much more impactful.

a good start anyway

Big persona fan here. I dont feel this game yet. Didn't play the demo since I was sure I would like it. Did someone else felt like that and loved the game as time went on?

Don't lie to the people lol

There are similarities and there are differences. I think the differences particularly in theme and setting does enough to differentiate itself. Just moving away from high school and into a new fantasy realm changed up a lot, imo. Don't see how that is a "lie". Doom the Dark Ages still has the same base gameplay mechanics that the Doom/Quake franchise always had but they changed up enough that people are excited about it. I don't see any "copy paste" criticism there or for the plethora of other shooters. Perhaps Metaphor/Persona stands out because of how distinctive the gameplay is.

Oh thats not the end of the demo, thats like the beginning of the intro. The demo is like 5/6 hours long actually.

But the game doesnt start proper till your in the city and they let you loose with the calendar.

So your really really not far in, so I wouldnt judge it based on that

Yea i actually can't point at what's bothering me. It's just doesn't feel right right now if that makes sense. You start some games and you know right away you will like this and it's kind of missing right now, but I will keep going.

That feeling when you get a new party member in a JRPG 💯

The game is on track to being my favourite game ever from Hashino & Co, loving (almost) everything about. Can't praise the characters/voice actors enough, soundtrack is god-tier, combat and job system is *chef's kiss*, central narrative is original and engaging. Sure it often looks like a PS3 game and my criticism about the creative decision to have shit flying all over the screen at all times still stands but it's easy to overlook these things and get lost in the world when all the rest is just so damn good 👌

Same. The dialogue is just so good. Reminds me of playing games like Suikoden back in the day. Feels like a proper fantasy RPG and not a whole bunch maladaptive soy teenagers uncertain about why they feel basic emotions and constantly stating the obvious about everything they encounter.

Alright finally got a better weapon for the Merchant archetype, now this is more like it. Smacking the shit out of monsters with an abacus and throwing gold at them. One of my life’s goals fulfilled.

Advanced a bit more after the demo and I'm now tackling the first dungeon.

I'm liking the game, but I'm still waiting for the combat to offer anything different if you compare it to Persona.

Besides the forward / back line mechanic, it's pretty much the same.

Can anyone quickly confirm that the demo saves carry over to the full version?

Played more of the demo this weekend on hard mode this time and it's got it's hooks in me, managed to defeat the dragon.

PC version BTW, if my save files carry over I'll just buy it right away.

For you and others playing the PC version, be aware of this: https://github.com/Lyall/MetaphorFix/releases
Works on the demo too. And yes it does carry over from what I understand.

I watched the first 1-2 hours on YouTube. Narrative wise it pulls me in, but the very few gameplay sections so far honestly don't interest me at all. Ugly environments, easy combat (even on hard), and there is so little of it.
It feels like a VN with some 3D parts on top. Is it opening up more down the line? I'm trying to justify 70€ over just watching a LP on YouTube.

I'll never understand this. There's a demo, spend that time trying the game for yourself and make your own mind up.

Thanks I'm using that already. Buying it now so I can just continue with the final game.

Yes the prologue is light on combat.

After that you do a whole ass dungeon which is quite hard, and then you also have an optional dungeon.

So at that point you're getting into the meat and potatoes of the game.

Pretty sure a LP is not the way to experience this game but to each their own.

Once you get out of the first city it opens up bigtime.

Still have to figure out if I prefer digital or physical though...

Wait a second, when you level up on a dungeon the HP and MP fill up doesn't happen anymore?

Season 6 What GIF by The Office
Nope but was it like that in P5? I dont think so either

I just tried to do as much as I could with the MP I had. Putting Hulkenberg on Brawler also saves a ton on MP, considering her skills use HP then.

Then its ready for a rest and return the next day

The main dungeons really are 2 steps up compared to Persona

Basically everything is a big upgrade compared to Persona
The first dungeon was truly great, but not everything is a big upgrade.
So far i am about 8h (6/20) in and the amount of voice acting seems way lower than any Atlus game in the last few years including budget ones like Tactica, it feels like only about 20-30% of the main story is voice acted once you get past what was included in the demo and so far there was zero for "social links" with the exception of accepting the request from Brigitta.

Pretty clear step-down compared to Reload which sold for 70 too and had 100% for not just the main, but also companion stories, which is a shame since the cast is pretty great. Anyone who is more further on can comment if the later parts have more?

I'm currently on Beluga corridor dungeon and on the 3rd floor there are two chests that I can't for the love of god found the hidden path to it.

I've been going on on circles.

Any tips?

It's on the corridor where the dogs start running towards you.

Progress further in to the dungeon eventually will find hole that gets you those locked places.

Persona 3 Reload is remake they actually when back and voiced parts that wasn't voiced before, because all other Persona game before Reload was same case as Metaphor, not everything is voiced.
