I guess it's because it's jolting to see all that in a Metroid game, where the series is so renowned for telling a story through its atmosphere and gameplay rather than with words.markot said:Terrible stories and completely invasive convoluted cut scenes? We all know what to expect with Kojima and MGS so it's always reviewed with the gameplay in mind first.
By the way, does anyone know if this was Sakamoto's idea to try and tell Samus' back story or was it Team Ninja who insisted that they wanted to do this?
I think this could've turned out great, but I guess Team Ninja just wasn't capable enough to pull it off. I'm talking about the storytelling, of course, since the gameplay seems solid and still fun.
