Metroid Prime 4: Beyond, overview trailer (Switch 2)

That's true, but "any publicity is good publicity" doesn't often hold true in gaming. Concord's infamy didn't do it any favors, for example. Obviously, we'll see how it goes before too long, but I can't imagine controversy being their intended strategy.
Concord was a new franchise with zero fanbase and received a 62 in MC... While the Prime series is a niche franchise, the fans knows that are going to receive a top quality game... Still a valid comparison, but not a good one.

Fine, substitute with Ass Creed Shadows, Veilguard, or whatever other western AAA that's shot themselves in the foot for no good reason in the last couple of years.

Those are popular franchises, like i said Metroid is a niche franchise that needs more exposure, especially with the younger audience and Myles Mackenzie is doing exactly that.

This reminds of me the old clip where George Lucas talks about creating Jar Jar Binks to appeal to his kids.

nah, we all know he created him to have that twist that he is a sith towards the end of episode 2 or beginning of episode 3.
WE KNOW THE TRUTH!

I would really like to see what this game looked like prior to Retro taking over in 2019. What did Nintendo not like? Did they see the success of BoTW and say Metroid needs to appeal to a larger audience?
The motorcycle bit in a desolate landscape, AI escort missions with cringey dialogue and enemy ai that appears to be really dated.
I am no longer a day one buyer, and will be eagerly waiting for reviews.

At ~$100 million, being one of Nintendos most expensive titles. I'm just not seeing it. Development hell is expensive.

I don't mind the motorcycle parts at all yet, those could be an interesting way of having an open expanse of a world between the more claustrophobic or weird areas.

But the companion's adolescent dialogue is infuriating. No joke to say that I hope it leads to firings & purging whatever idiot producers thought this direction was a good idea. Still likely that the rest of the game makes up for it, but I want the reviews to be relentless in mockery of that one aspect and maybe scare Nintendo from trying that kind of movie-quip nonsense again.

Out of the two 'versions' I assume this is by far the more fan-pleasing one, despite the new additions.

I can only assume they saw another Metroid Prime: Federation Force trainwreck and closed shop before it got too far along this time.

Nobody is excited for Myles. Some of us just don't get worked up over a side character that will most likely disappear as quickly as he shows up.
Plus, if it is true that voiceacting can be disabled then this will help immensely with such annoyances.
Don't loose hope guys.
I am hoping Myles gets own game lol...

Might cancel my preorder if they don't get this horrible character out of the game before release! This is just stupid! #thisisnotthemetroidwewerewaitingfor
