The X parasite taking over the SR388 monsters leads directly into Metroid Fusion, right? I guess the stuff about the DARK CHOZOS might be a sequel tease where Samus has to deal with them. I'm gonna assume they have some sort of Metroid and Samus has to, maybe, just maybe, blow up their planet. Can't blame her, they have it coming.
Just finished the game on the first run for 100%..the only realy bad thing about the game were the controls every now and then.. Jesus im the drill bot fight, i literally raged because of the controls..anyway..dat 11/10 pic blew my mind.. Also, the first time you unlock it, it's "2d/11"... So.. Either a clever hint or I'm just way to deep in the hype.. I love the implications for a evil/rogue chozo factoion, though I wonder how this all fits into the time line... If they were there earlier, wouldn't MB try to contact them when she got control over zebes? So many questions.. I think I'll start another run..
That makes a lot of sense that the stations represent the two factions, but I don't think it's the respective leaders for each type of station because the asshole Chozo has a straight beak, while the ammo station had a curved beak.So people in this thread have brought up there being two major factions of Chozo. Scientists and Warriors.
I noticed that the health and ammo stations each feature a different chozo bust on them.
Maybe leader of the science faction is the health station and leader of the warriors is the ammo station?

There are warrior Chozo standing at attention for the guy in Memory 11, so he(?) is probably a Chozo from off world that arrived to "rescue" the SR388 Chozo. Definitely doesn't look anything like the Luminoth.Huh, from the moment I first saw that I didn't interpret the last guy as a Chozo. He looks like he's from another alien race, not necessarily a beak there, some kind of proboscis. In fact my first thought was that he was a Luminoth from Metroid Prime 2.
The framing of memory 10 is of the Chozo greeting an emissary who just arrived on his big space ship. He's not pictured in any other image prior to 10, this is a new arrival. And I assumed he was partly responsible for wiping out the Chozo.

That's actually a rather clever way to get themselves out of the dead end storyline that was metroid fusion
So this indicates that SR sees the events of Prime to be canonical now.
That's actually a rather clever way to get themselves out of the dead end storyline that was metroid fusion
But Prime has always been canon.
I mean Fusion already set up Samus making an enemy of the federation. I think the logical conclusion to both of these threads is that the evil Chozo group is controlling the federation from the shadows
Its not a dead end, she's now a Federation enemy as of the end of Fusion. They could have had her take on other such research facilities or something of the sort, but it seems now they might transition to a Chozo enemy (or maybe both a Chozo and Federation enemy).
That said, she still has some fairly high ranking allies in both the Chozo (the science, peaceful side of whatever is still alive) and the Federation (Fleet Admiral Dane), so it would be curious what dynamics might come into play there.
This is the first time that Prime has been loosely acknowledged in the 2D entries.
Really? I was thinking that the Chozo was their own faction, and would soundly trump the federation. Maybe the feds hire Samus one last time and the pay this time is the pardoning of her crimes?
This event on SR388 with the Chozo, didn't it happen very long ago?
I hope (but wouldn't mind) we won't see any Chozo in the future regardless to keep them mysterious.
Instead, I would prefer if we had to deal with what the bad Chozo fraction left behind. Like traps, roboters, dangerous machines or bio-experiments, computers or weapons that can destroy the galaxy, an automatic factory of them that has to be stopped, and so on.
I mean, in my version the evil Chozo would pretty much have complete control of the upper echelon of the federation, they just keep their presence a secret and control it from the shadows
The convenient thing for continuity would just have the bad chozo return and wage war on the federation on some planet so Samus is in the middle of it all and doesn't have to kill humans.
Or something. Add pirates to the mix.
Oooh ok. Like a Patriots sort of deal eh? I would very much like to see her face when she finds out that not only have they been alive, but have been watching her the whooooole time. It's a cool idea.
Tbh I've missed a bunch of Metroid games so I'm not sure if it's been done yet, but has a game ever been set on a giant planet sized alien parasite? I figure something like that would be enough to get all three factions to shut up and work together to take that thing down. Not only would it give us an excuse to have Chozo, Space Pirates, and Federation soldiers in the same game, we would get a really interesting world to explore and die violently with in gameplay.
Maybe prime 4 can help set this up?
By the way correct me if I'm wrong since I didn't play Fusion and only watched Walk-through some time ago, but wasn't Samus going to surrender to the Federation at the end ? Or at least trying to plead her case on why she think trying to tame the X is not really a good idea ? You would think they would at least listen to her considering she saved the ass a bunch of time already
The X had to be removed for one reason: They're really fucking broken. The moment they commandeer a spaceship and reach Galactic Civilization, they will consume everything and be basically unstoppable. The convenient thing for continuity would just have the bad chozo return and wage war on the federation on some planet so Samus is in the middle of it all and doesn't have to kill humans.

Removing the X from the storyline seems like a huge waste to me. Samus being the last Metroid at the end of Fusion is more interesting than having new metroids everywhere. So I don't know what they could do.
Yeah the idea that a Metroid 5 has to be about Samus going rogue against the Federation is a fan concept, Fusion's ending is pretty open ended regarding what will happen next.
The X had to be removed for one reason: They're really fucking broken. The moment they commandeer a spaceship and reach Galactic Civilization, they will consume everything and be basically unstoppable.
The only reason the Metroids could really control them was they were stuck in the caverns of one planet.
Metroid can get dark, but that's a bit too dark for my liking. Getting into Dead Space territory. But that's why they're so good and also why Samus being the last Metroid alive make them the perfect enemy.
If anything, they should consume the federation in a sequel
Personally her being labeled a criminal is super dumb to me. Shes saved the Universe a couple times over so the idea they would want to jail her and not believe her story is a bit absurd.

Remember how the baby Metroid imprinted on Samus? I think they're implying that's what originally was the relationship between the Metroids and the Chozo. So it's actually a design feature that got ruined by the Metroid evolution.Am I also wrong in thinking that Larva Metroids are inherently obedient to their Chozo Creators?
Samus's suit was built by the Chozo, so that's probably why.Perhaps I'm wrong in thinking that this Rogue Chozo has something to do with Samus, specifically as well. That Arm Cannon looks pretty similar.

Am I wrong in thinking that absorbing those X Parasites caused the Metroids to mutate over time?

The Federation wanted to capture what was essentially John Carpenters The Thing on steroids. They've repeatedly run experiments on things that were declared so dangerous they had Samus wipe them all out. Also lets allow some of are best bounty hunters and soldiers to have liquid evil batteries on their gear.
This does not strike me as a smart or reasonable governing body. They'd probably want her captured just to keep a lid on their experiments.
Putting these two together, I don't think any of this is what was intended originally (especially since Fusion, and thus the X, came waaaaaay later), but it certainly sounds like a direction they could feasibly go in. EDIT: In that Metroids were supposed to be more "friendly" with the Chozo, but consumption of X led to mutatgenic evolutions that screwed that up.
Personally, the X are an inherently terrifying sort of enemy, so I'd love to see more of them later on. I've been waiting years to find out what happens after Fusion!
The planning and intelligence that the X had in Fusion tells me they wouldn't let a silly thing like a planet getting nuked stop them.

Yeah, but it changes the meaning of the relationship. It'd mean that the last Metroid didn't spare Samus in Super because it was its' mommy, but because it remembered she was part Chozo (I assume it becoming bigger meant that it was mutating to some degree, unnaturally).
It just makes me think something about that Chozo in particular. The Arm Cannon was definitely cloaked in prior screens.
I am unsure if we can separate Samus from the X at this point either, absorbing the SA-X caused her to mutate (probably in ways similar to, seemingly, metroids mutating when adsorbing the X). If she's part metroid, she's probably some part mutation-driven X as well.
That said, nothing escaped the research facility and Samus blew the entire planet up, not really much room for X spreading from there. Metroid could, in theory, be cloned *from* Samus though.
Zero Mission already canonized Old Bird to some extent would also likely extended to Grey Voice, though he's been given a bit of a work-over in Zero Mission to look more like the warrior chozo.

I'd be down for this!OH FUCK
Finally, live chozo. yes plz, here's hoping
I meant the Chozo were imprinting on their Metroids the same way that Samus was, not that you have to be part Chozo to imprint on a Metroid.Yeah, but it changes the meaning of the relationship.
