Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?

Gaming revenue experienced a decline of -7%

I know they don't have the extra bump from Acti now, but that's not great.
Xbox hardware revenue saw a significant drop of -29%

Content and services showed a positive growth of +2%
Fairly large HW drop YoY with two big game releases and GP pretty much flat.

2% increase for content and services has to be horrific, right?

To hit Microsofts quota, Gamepass needs to grow on average 40% every year for the next 5 years

That's why you had Phil Spencer going on his internet roadshow. They're going to be announcing a lot of games for PS5 and Switch 2 over the next few months in a desperate attempt to get revenue up.

Will confirm MS's current direction. Wonder if the Gamepass growth came from user numbers or price.

They increased the price of GamePass Ultimate by 17%. PC GamePass increased by 20%.

Combined with CoD going to GamePass, I'm not sure you can call this actual growth and without additional price increases for next year, I'm not sure how they'll stay ahead of churn...

Not surprised their hardware is declining.

They wasted the 360 momentum and now sell their games elsewhere so I would need to see something very special to buy a new Xbox in the future, and I'm clearly not the only one.

These services are just a slow burning trap.
Fucking neflix is raising prices in april again.

All my services combined cost way more than i ever paid for cable

Putting their biggest game COD on Gamepass and Indiana Jones lead to a measly +2 % growth in services is not looking good and it's without a doubt lower than what they expected.

Gamepass is cooked.

Going to disagree with you big time on your premise.

Netflix is a historically great deal to the detriment of the industry. It would be a great deal at 50 a month.

It has way more content than cable minus RSN and live events, whether you value their catalog or not, it's a pretty insane price with easy access to cancelations.

All your services combined is way more content than you were getting with cable and not dealing with commercials.

Enjoy it while you can. If Gamepass succeeds it will be no better. Growth will mature and all that is left is to raise prices

Not dealing with commercials is worth it IMO. I can't stand commercials.

Not necessarily, what exactly does content and services include?

The 2% is for the entire segment, not just game pass. GP is the driver of the positive result.
That's a good question.

Gaming, including Xbox hardware and Xbox content and services, comprising first- and third-party content (including games and in-game content), Xbox Game Pass and other subscriptions, Xbox Cloud Gaming, advertising, third-party disc royalties, and other cloud services.
I found this but it's still not clear what is included with just content and services.

It would depend what the Gamepass result is. If it's under 17% then the growth is only through price, whereas its more than that then there's subscriber growth as well.

Do we have any idea what proportion of content and services comes from Gamepass?

Adds CoD to gamepass. Only 2% Growth in content and services. Nice, and that's with a gamepass price rise.
