Microsoft E3 conference: June 4th 10:00 AM PDT

NO! That's 30 minutes after a pretty important lecture of mine starts. Damn! Well, looks like I'll have to watch it later and sift through the aftermath instead of being there while the madness is happening. Although just skipping class is tempting... Then again, maybe I can assemble a few friends to watch it together after class, which would be even better.

Hopefully the whole show will be up in some form by the time I'm home.

E3 is such an awesome time. Even if games I hope get announced or shown don't, I still get excited for the possibilities every year. Love it. Conker 2 and Killer Instinct III, please.

This would be amazing, but knowing Rare has changed I don't expect this at all

Your points just don't make sense. What else do you want me to do? The stuff you are complaining about is just par for course.

And yet almost all of GAF agreed that last year's conference was trash in the "rate the conferences" thread. Hmmm.

"They don't make sense" is the same as jamming fingers in your ears like a teenager. You haven't offered one counterpoint as to how those Kinect sequences were good. Not ONE.

That does not make it true. IMO MS has won the press conference battle every E3 without exception since they entered gaming.

Since MS came up with Kinect, they've been much less good, but Sony's are still even worse, and feature just as much Move nonsense as MS Kinect nonsense, while being even less entertaining and more of a train wreck. Nintendo is a non competitor with me since I'm not interested in any of their platforms (though this year, I'll certainly be rapt for Wii U's unveiling).

I fully expect GAF to declare MS third again this year, they always do, it's a foregone conclusion. But I probably wont agree again.

Didn't MS win in 2009 in the polls because they actually had a good conference? I doubt MS looses because people have something against them, they just don't have interesting conferences to most people on this site.

Don't want to make a new thread on it. Maybe this can be a catch-all E3 conference schedule thread?

EA's E3 2012 press conference is at 1:00 PM PST on June 4.

Posted? Though it´s for next years E3 according to this rumor:

"EA is developing a sequel to cult hit Mirror's Edge for the next generation Xbox, according to alleged industry insiders. Due to reveal at E3 2013, the game will also, reportedly, allow you to control returning heroine Faith with Kinect gestures."

Amazing. I hope it's true. It'll have controller support whatever, and depending on the advancements made to Kinect itself, motion control could be really cool for things like tilt and balance.

hope this happens, and a stage demo is shown just for the hilarious animated gifs GAF provides

fuck me if that Kinect bullshit for Mirror's Edge is true

well, if it's mandatory anyway. hopefully they're not retarded. laggy, unreliable gestural controls <<< traditional controller every. single. time.

Would be colossally stupid to make it mandatory. Don't think they'd do that, quite honestly. They've already got a great base built into the controller from the original.

If it's for the next gen, we don't know exactly what the rules will be. If a kinect is included with each 720, there would be no drawback to make it a requirement. And we don't know what the performance of the next gen kinect will be either.
With a new generation everybody's starting from scratch, everything is possible.

:lol I like your optimism

Yeah, no.

MS would never do something that could potentially damage profits. Appealing to Kinect fans and alienating controller fans, when they could just have both, would be one of those things.

EDIT: Also, a sequel to one of the best new IPs of this generation? Yes please.

I sure hope the 720 is a monster because I'm going to be pissed if games start being held back because of forced Kinect support taking up a portion of the processing power. Either way I'm sure it will eventually cause a problem since people (at least now) make games with the 360 in mind and port over. If sacrifices have to be made to get Kinect to work then PC and PS3 feel those sacrifices too.

Next gen all games will support all systems and I'm guessing it will be like this gen where the base system will be the one that is easiest to develop for.

Ok citing the majority on GAF as your backing evidence is a pretty good indication that you are wrong. GAF readers in general are a huge step up from most internet denizens. However, that still means 95% are clueless when it comes to strategy and business. For instance, you have some flawed idea that I think that all of the Kinect sequences are "good", when that is obviously not true. Without checking the post history, I probably used words like fine for what it was or par for the course, which are true statements. Those statements reflect comparison to other motion control demonstrations. Given that context MS' Kinect presentations are fine.

Last years conference was embarassing (from a gamer's perspective). I don't think anyone here would disagree with that. I don't expect them to change the formula. They'll pimp a few huge third party titles, some kinect family stuff, a few exclusive big media partnerships like espn or HBO, and then one or two exclusives. Does it really matter though? They didn't even mention XBLA last year and that is turning out to be where the majority of their best content is. The majority of even hardcore gamers are spending more and more time watching media on their 360's, which I think is why the big media partnerships like ESPN, HBO, and Sesame Street can be seen as big successes.

Microsoft hasn't had a good E3 since 2008 when they announced the FFXIII megaton.

Ever since, it's been nothing but predictable Call of Duty and other third party demos along with Gears or Halo depending on the year, a bunch of generally worthless xbox OS announcements, and of course the huge and embarrassing Kinect push that seems to now be the focus.

New hardware is the only thing that can elevate their conference at this point, otherwise this year will be yet another where they pretty much have the worst conference of the show.

Better me some standard control options for Mirror's Edge. I've already had enough of motion controls ruining games this generation, don't need it next gen too.

and feature just as much Move nonsense as MS Kinect nonsense

Opinions are fine and all, but this is just a flatout lie.

Kinect alone would have been enough to win all of the E3s since then. Entertainment Apps alone would have been enough to win all of the E3s since then. Combined they have allowed MS to dominate E3.

Kinect alone has allowed them to pretty much lose every single E3 since its debut.

Nintendo and Sony have had much better conferences the past few years. Well, last year Nintendo's conference wasn't so hot, but it was better than Microsoft by a good margin, and in 2010 they had a really fantastic conference.

I read something about using heroin with kinect gestures on the first pass

I leave disappointed

And let the irrational statements flow! Your first sentance directly contradicts known facts, lol.

Yeah, only the official reveal of 3DS, Skyward Sword, Donkey Kong Country Returns, Kirby's Epic Yarn, and Epic Mickey all for the first time. Total meaningless competition.

Dont care about any one of those games. You are proving his point.

I think its gonna go like this:

-Price drop.
-Halo 4 campaign showcase.
-Sales blabber .
-1st party titles coming this year (Forza Horizon, Fable etc).
-Partnerships stuff.
-Kinect games showcase
-3rd party titles (Blops, Creed 3)
-Surprise 3rd party exclusive (L4D 3?)
-Summation of titles coming this year and mission statement
-"One last thing" Durango/720 tease.

Perfect

HALO 4 excites me alot to see what they show. I'm sure the new enemy won't be shown still because why spoil it for us when we can encounter them on our first playthrough for the first time.

As long as it has 720 i will be happy.

Let's see. 3DS was an epic disaster, which to Nintendo's credit they recognized fairly quickly and took steps to correct. And a bunch of games of interest only to nintendo fans except Epic Mickey which had a bit of cachet. The last game announcement of any consequence was FFXIII to 360, and that only had meaning as a defining endpoint to PS 3rd party exclusivity. Everyone seems to have this silly notion that individual games matter for the big three. Overall portfolio and hardware matters. Services matter even more.

This guy lol.

No chance of 720 talk. A company doesn't send out a press release to everyone in not only the gaming press, but people in the general tech press, and then go back on that to tease the console.
