Microsoft E3 conference: June 4th 10:00 AM PDT

The sad reality is all three have been lacking the last couple years and as gaming grows more in mainstream culture, the more these companies are going to try and reach out to them. That's my view on the matter at least.

I'm more bothered by the actual presenters. Mattrick, Tretton, and Reggie just need to go IMO

Will Phil Harrison be the main presenter?

I totally forgot about this move. I bet Phil will be out on stage, he has to.

Again, I've presented to you numerous times why I thought the presentation was not "superior" to others. You seem to be the one who keeps ramming his fingers in his ears screaming, "lalalala."

Your points just don't make sense. What else do you want me to do? The stuff you are complaining about is just par for course.

Because sony and Nintendo don't have the same feeling during their motion controller segments?

Half the time you have an adult and kid actors pretending to be gamers, of course it's not going to seem natural. =D

Kage, man. I don't know what it is, but you seem to pull something from my posts that aren't there.
And, again, I understand that. Being a "success" and being the "best presentation" are 2 completely different things.

I wonder how we are supposed to know that the game sales were high because of a "successful" E3 conference anyway.

wonder what the big surprise end will be this time.

Is it consistent every year? I've viewed it mostly as a sporadic thing where one year they'd have one and the next they wouldn't.

E3 06 - Halo 3
E3 07 - Nothing
E3 08 - FFXIII
E3 09 - Nothing? Kinect?
E3 10 - 360 Slim
E3 11 - Halo 4; new trilogy

I hope MS continues killing with XBLA stuff. It would be nice to see franchises they obviously have no intention of releasing triple AAA retail games of become a new mid tier game, along the lines of Alan Wake: American Nightmare. I'd buy a bunch of 5 hour single-player experiences with either a horde or co-op mode. Crackdown, Nuts & Bolts, Mechassault, Halo Wars, Viva Pinata, Kameo, etc are ripe for this type of treatment.

He was talking about the ending of the conference.

I think if there would be one big surprise for the end of the conference this year it would be a very early glimpse of their next console, I don't think it'll happen though.

Or the guy who acted out the movements a second ahead of the actual movement on Star Wars? It absolutely KILLED that conference.
Whilst I agree that most of the Kinect presentations are cringeworthy, that much-GIFed Kinect Star Wars moment was actually part of the Cirque De Soleil event where the dancers were synced to a gameplay montage. It was never intended to be a live gameplay demo.

I think generally Microsoft do have the better production and the better format and pacing without much talk of sales numbers or plodding speeches about how great they are, they just haven't had the content the last couple of years to make the presentation exciting. Even as a fan of Kinect I'd drop live demonstrations; they're badly acted and they don't sell the game any better than a trailer would. They take up 50% of the show and 99% of the complaints. Keep the same quick format but focus live demonstrations on the games that most of the audience wants to see and they could have an above average show.

I can't imagine next fall will have a major 360 title to be revealed if the 720 is launching then, so a final reveal might be a tiny tease of the next console. Are the Bulletstorm guys rumoured to be working on a Gears prequel? If so, maybe a Gears of War CG trailer with next gen Xbox branding at the end.

My rundown of what the press conference will probably be.

Black Ops 2 singleplayer demo with the lame 6 weeks of DLC exclusivity line at the end.
20 minutes of Kinect/Espn/Hulu/XBL dashboard bullshit.
A couple 3rd party trailers.
Assassin's Creed 3 demo.
An unannounced 3rd party exclusive that we will never hear of again.
Halo 4 demo.
And they finish it off with a Gears Prequel trilogy announcement for the Xbox 720.

I think the surprise could be a game that will come out in Spring 2013. They aren't going to do a fall 2013 first party 360 game if they are launching a console so maybe they have something in the pipeline for first half of next year.

This is a great idea. I could see a small, 5 hour type game working well with Crackdown. Speed up the power ups like the 1 hr demo of the first game. Have the game on a timer like Dead Rising, have to get stuff done in a certain amount of time, can do exploring or side stuff between "missions" If someone is real good, they could speed run the 5 hrs and 100% everything but most people won't.

Crackdown Arcade, Microsoft needs to make it happen.

Correction: it's at 930 am

Microsoft's E3 press conference kicks off at 9:30 AM PST on June 4.

Is it sad that I'm expecting the same? Maybe a Crackdown 3 announcement though.

Forza Horizon made by Playground Studios is going to be good. Those guys are some of the top of the crop of racing games.

Can not wait to see this racing game. MMO Open World Racing here I come!!!!!

complains about speakers lacking personality.

Suggests Phil Harrison.

Phil Harrison gets straight to the point and is all business. He isn't dry though, people want to listen to him and when he talks they do. He doesn't patronize people or act slimey as if he's a used car salesman. That Don Mattrick guy is so monumentally douchey I don't know where to begin.

He has this permanent smug smirk on his face and after every sentence you get the impression that he just wants to elbow nudge everyone in the crowd and say 'hey, wait till ya see the kinda deal I have in store for you now... if you just jump on board with us, we'll make it worth your while hehe *wink*'. He feels like such a shady character when he speaks and Microsoft personalities in general give off that impression.

Phil seems genuine and treats people as equal adults rather than Spike TV junkies or grandmothers trying to lower their blood pressure.

edit - wow I just saw someone else said the same used car salesman thing about Don lol.

since e3 2008 there was surprises, that is what im going by:

e3 2009 was kinect reveal but also mgs rising.

Microsoft should form an E3 conference uberteam consisting of Kudo Tsunoda, Ubisoft's Mr. Caffeine, and the woman from Nintendo's E3 2008 conference.

With a special guest appearance from the everyone involved in Konami's 2010 conference.

Except for Tak Fuji, he's awesome.

Wow, this thread is getting trolled hard.

I for one am looking forward to Microsoft's conference. Bring on the new Xbox.

They've already said they're not showing off the 720. It's a stretch, but we might see a brief CG trailer or two that'll say "Holiday 2013" or something and leave the system vague, but that's about it.

Microsoft wants to keep the focus on selling the 360 and Kinect shovelware. It'd make no sense for them to announce a new console when they're current one is still going strong and will probably sell even more with the rumored price cuts.

E3 is such an awesome time. Even if games I hope get announced or shown don't, I still get excited for the possibilities every year. Love it. Conker 2 and Killer Instinct III, please.
