well obviously they had to increase the price of games in line with everyone else eventually

well obviously they have to increase the price of Game Pass from £10.99 considering all the £69.99 games you get on it, it’s still the best value in gaming™’

well obviously they had to increase the price of games to £79.99 to match PS6 games, what did you expect?

well obviously they have to increase the price of Game Pass from £17.99 considering all the £79.99 games you get on it, it’s still the best value in gaming™’

Just mix in some ‘look at their overheads with ABK, of course they have to increase prices’ and you’re golden.

Eventually yes. Maybe in 2024 or 2025 🤷‍♂️ But I expect it to reach 50m first before price increase.
50 million is my guesstimate as well before a price increase. We will see an announcement about no more stacking Gold conversion then a year later a price increase. I'm thinking tail end of 2025, then price increase in 2026.
This is assuming they even hit 50 million. I think they will.

Where is all the but of course they had to do it because of inflation and weakening currencies?

I don’t agree with £70 games at all but at least with Sony they kind of has their hooks in players with games like TLoU, Uncharted and God of War. I don’t really feel like MS have that kind of pulling power with their games. Maybe next year will tell a different story.

I paid $70 for Midnight Suns and was sort of confused. I thought only Sony had raised the prices. Pretty sure I bought the basic version.

Sad, but kind of expected
Makes gamepass better value, hoping they don’t increase that any time soon
For now. Those increases are coming.
Not necessarily true... I've been sitting on this screen for the past 2 hours trying to convince myself to make the purchase

Yep. I have joined Pc “masterrace” ans looked for these fabled “games are cheaper.” Literally the same price for me lol
$70 games when all you have to pay is $150 for three years of GamePass lmfao
For now. Like the “cheaper” new games, this will also be closed out. Corps want money and don’t care about you behind the PR.

Until they raise their subscription prices as well?
Like Amazon, Netflix, Disney have all been doing?
This is the first step, let's see if the Gamepass price will be the same when Starfield is released.
Which is why I have mine stacked till 2026

At least they held out for a while...

I remember the days of SNES games also being overly expensive.

We have come full circle.

I was talking to my friend yesterday about this exactly. I remember my uncle took me to 5 or 6 different stores around NYC because he didn't want to pay $75 bucks for Street Fighter II on the SNES lol.

It was bound to come. MS is probably the last big company to do it.

And it comes down to gamers accepting it. Once general consensus agrees to it, floodgates open and everyone copies.

Absolutely no different than the big change from discs to digital over the years (which for most people even includes needing to buy an external HDD for more storage). A big uproar at the beginning, but now accepted.

Same goes for patches. Console game patching used to be zero. Then during 360/PS3 era it was modest with few patches and they were small in size. Now, it seems console patches are as common and big than a PC patch. Again, gamers accept it so they'll keep doing it even after all the past laughs console gamers used to do to PC gamers how they got patches and consoles need zero.

There's been chat about this kind of stuff in different threads over time. And many of us said the same thing..... if game makers do it long enough, gamers eventually cave in and accept. As long as the game makers hold firm pushing it, gamers always bend.

I love how everyone is dunking on Microsoft when this will be 2.5 years after Sony made the change.
Guys paying €79 for Returnal or Forspoken pointing fingers lmao.
Nobody is pointing fingers, people are just giving back the same shit Sony received.

kinda funny you put that but gamers have choice and can play on Gamepass day one. so who's really laughing now? right back at you
disgusted not safe for work GIF
