Off topic, but a 6.3 (12 miles deep) just hit Taipei and I almost shit myself. That's the strongest one I've felt in a long time. I almost bailed out of my apartment and everything when it fully kicked in.

At my job right now I am copy and pasting text from one document to another simply because there's no software that can do it automatically.

Last week I also spent an hour putting stickers on boxes containing promotional rubik's cubes.

My software development degree is really paying off here.

Normally I would stay at a job for at least six months, but I've been here for less than two and I've already got one foot out the door. Hell, one guy they hired two weeks ago has already bailed.
 
I'm so bored with work that I'm voluntarily, and quite happily, currently reading a 300 page research paper titled: Towards a Better Understanding of Motivational Consumer Behavior: Cross-Validation, Construct Validation and application of a Psycholigical Taxonomy if Consumer Motives.

Also writing jobb applications, and met a recruiter this morning....

Have a holiday. I don't feel like going back to work now though.

Africa is a bit of a strangely messed up place with some good bits.

We stayed a Parish in Tanzania with one of my mums friends who is a priest. 3 days after we left his house got broken into by 5 dudes and was robbed and beaten at gun point.

Few of us have a job that is rewarding beyond the wage.

My soul is far from crushed, but any sort of personal advancement is stifled where I'm at. I earn a satisfactory wage, keep to myself, and am fortunate enough to keep headphones on for most of the day. I usually keep up with a book or podcast or listen to a few albums every day. It's the vacation and holiday pay that keep me on - a monkey could do my job, but if I changed jobs I'd lose out on vacation that would take me a decade or more to earn most anywhere else.

And we ridicule fighters for having no employable skills, when most of us aren't happy with where our skills have landed us! Were I able, I would have certainly tried my hand in the sport. It'd be fun while it lasted.

Wife. Son. Mortgage.

The house is a pretty convenient place to store the family, and the job is a pretty convenient way to earn money to pay for said house.

Imagine the dire straits this company would be in if GSP decided to up and quit. wouldn't have anybody who can draw upwards of 500k buys.


I can't imagine too many people actually love what they do. Work is a means to an end. Make some money so you can live a decent and enjoyable life hopefully.

I had no "anchors" (wife, dependants, mortgage, loans, etc) and it took me from college to Korea then Taiwan. Completely amazing experience. Plus it allowed me to experience stuff before aforementioned anchors started getting dropped back in 2011 when I realised my current relationship is probably built to last.

Putting PPVs a week after 2 million potential buyers just spent $70 on a Mayweather fight is not smart. Same with the Cain fight going against college football and the World Series. Dana and co. needs to start AVOIDING other sporting events, finding dead periods in the year, not actively going up against them. Putting a PPV fight on the weekend of the Super Bowl is another death sentence. Even though the game is on free TV people spend a ton of money on Super Bowl parties, buying food, going out, buying new TVs for crying out loud, nobody is going to have an extra $50 to watch two midgets fight.

Truth. The thing is, Dana knows this already. The problem seems to stem from them having way too many PPV's now. I'd rather have less PPV's with more stacked cards.
 
UFC 168 will tell us whether or not there's still an audience for the right fight. Dana thinks it will be the biggest event they've ever done. I doubt it, but I'm curious if they can still go over the 1 million buy mark, and how far over.

What sort of work do you do? If you go to some large companies in an applicable industry and tell them, up front, you don't care where they send you, you have absolutely no ties and a bunch of employable skills, you can write your own ticket and live like a king on the COLA.
 
I just found out that Dana doesn't ever have to disclose how much a fighter makes on the back-end. If GSP is making 4-5mil a fight how much do you think he is getting after PPV rates and other shit?

I doubt he makes $4-5 million BEFORE the back end stuff. That's probably after. I imagine all the actual purses are shit, but the big name fighters make a killing off the PPV bonuses.
 
maybe Dana can try to lure Dave Bautista into the Ultimate after he becomes more famous after Guardians of the Galaxy. That next crossover sports entertainment HW star.

I really should just go back to school, but I have no idea what I want to do. I always tell people I feel like I'd be happiest having 10 different jobs in 10 different fields. I don't have a passion for any single thing, but enjoy a lot of different things. A jack of all trades, master of none, etc etc.

Right now my job title is material coordinator, basically parts procurement, but even a monkey could do what I do, as shown by some of my coworkers.

I have a hard time seeing them break 1 million these days. I hope that they do though so people can see Weidman style all over Anderson

Ever considered roughnecking on a rig, or do you like all your fingers?

There's plenty of stuff you can do that will satisfy a sense of adventure, pay you well, and can provide a lot of OJT as long as you know how to follow a job safety form. If you're truly without ties, can't afford school, and aren't big into the idea of the military but want to live dangerously, I can't think of something else that would get you going faster.

If you knew the best doctor would you let him laser your eyes? Money isnt an issue.

Im thinking about it for quite some time now and im an on/off glasses type of guy...but I dont like wearing them anymore and I look better without them anyway.

Ive just recently seen a bit on TV about that topic and they interviewed people where the surgery...went wrong. It had quite an impact on me although the doc of my choice never made a mistake. I dont know...they cut your eyes open while you're fully conscious...maybe Im having the wrong thoughts here!

I like all my fingers ;), but yeah, heading out west has been an option as much as anything else really. Above all else, I just want to feel like I'm making a difference at my job, to feel important and all that.
 
Lil nog pulls out of more fights than anyone in the business. It would be news if he actually made it into the octagon
 
How do you loose a little batman? they 'found her' i.e. she went home. if you take your child trick or treating dont let it grapple away. I just spent an hour witnessing madness. Wifes mom calls..shes crying..then the wife starts crying..then they call my mom and SHE starts crying oh..then the nine year old with a cell phone calls her mom and says 'i went home'.
