Mobile Suit Gundam Iron Blooded Orphans S2TEKKADAN is MURDERERS, HAIL GHALLARJORN

Episode did not keep me engage.

I *did* laugh when that one soldier charged recklessly. while the kids were espousing tactical caution. Tomino had Katz, the wanna-be child hero, doing the reckless shit and the experienced Kamille (who also did reckless shit but had to be bitch-slapped by the adults) beating some sense in him.

What do I care, tho? Up is down in this world.

I dont. . .Wtf is happening? How is this situation supposed to drag McGillis name/status down?

One of McGillis' responsibilities is supposed to be overseeing the political interactions between some of the Blocs, and arbitrating between them should they get into large scale disagreements and conflicts. He gained this position by strategically utilising a third party (Tekkadan) to engage in conflict in one of the Blocs to discredit his predecessor efforts and show that (among other things), they weren't fulfilling they're responsibilities as intended. He made his father look like he wasn't able to control the Abrau situation / allowed it to get out of control.

Through strategically utilising a third party (again Tekkadan), to draw the conflict out into a war of attrition, Rustal & Hige-ojisan are supposedly discrediting McGillis in a similar fashion. It makes him look like he isn't able to control the situation / allowed it to get out of control.

If there is more to it than that, we'll see, but I doubt it's anything deeper than that.

Oh my what a brutal episode. At least McGillis shows mercy to little girls.

Wow Hush get fucked.

Wow way to fucking ruin the episode and any signs of voice of reason and turn a dude into Mika-lite. Tekkadan is some toxic hive mind shit.

Gaelio/Vidar really cannot come soon enough. This some shit.

Damn, I knew the flags were strong, but
Aston
didn't even make is 5 mins thru the ep

I'll admit my cynical opinion on them sparing and BL subtext characters before the endgame was wrong, they did give him a lovers farewell though

Takaki, you dumbass. You don't deserve any sort of leadership or authority with the Earth branch after all this bullshit. At least we got some decent fight scenes once the Mars team arrived and Akihiro actually got a chance to act badass.
Hopefully with those two vermin dead the season will be set back on track but my expectations have been set low after that mess.

Holy shit that episode was GOOD. This arc has been terribly written in terms of politics and the motivations that forced all the characters into the positions they had were really forced and dumb, but this conclusion is probably the best possible way it could have ended to realign itself with the core themes in the series. Aston is such an unfortunate victim to the need to have DRAMA and SACRIFICE out of this arc, it's really a shame. But the action, the direction, the pacing, IBO was on FIRE this week.

When the main team finally arrives back on Earth and everyone is like OH SHIT, that was a real yakuza moment. How they dealt with the traitor and how they dealt with the mercenary chief were all fucking satisfying. Heck, I even liked the development Hush got with Mika. Him realizing that he isn't hot shit anymore is an amazing first step towards him being a more interesting character.

I was disillusioned as fuck with this entire arc but damn, I'm back on the train now. Fuck yeah. <3

I still don't think the stuff with Takaki and Aston in the opening worked when it was directly connected to such a mess of a conflict. If the last two episodes were directed better it probably would have hit those emotional notes really well but it's stained with that nonsense. Tekkadan taking retribution on those who wronged them was great stuff though.

It didn't work but it almost feels like they realized that because instead of dragging it out, most of the opening act was pure mecha action with lots of nice melee stuff and close ups. I would say Takaki crawling into Aston's cockpit almost worked for me. The way it was directed was really good, but the entire storyline is so badly written it's hard to really get into it.

When Radice was getting interrogated I almost expected him to go "IT WASN'T MY FAULT, BLAME THE WRITERS!!!!" because that's basically how I feel about this entire arc. Lol.

I think if they made Radice not so obviously villainous, the arc might have worked. Even without his scenes with the merc, it was so obvious that he didn't care for Tekkadan and was causing a communication block between the two squads. The didn't even bother to have him commit sabotage to dodge suspicion, he literally just says nobody else can use the comms because Chad said so and yet that raises zero suspicion on him for the entire conflict. It would have been much more compelling if he was forced by outside reasons to betray the Earth branch, similar to Biscuit's brother trying to secure the DORT deal or whatever that was, that also would have made his final confrontation with Takaki much more impactful. But instead he was just a complete cartoon of a white-collar villain that ruined the majority of an arc.

While I agree with you comepletely on this, I do want to also say that "complete cartoon of a villain" is a large part of why I just haven't been as into Orphans as others here are.

I thought it was the other way around, but OK.

I dunno, it wasn't a bad episode, but my issue is on how manipulative the Aston/Takaki thing was. Aston basically became relevant and friend with Takaki two episodes ago just they could kill with him. I'm not against character dying, but I would have preferred if he lived and continued being a character.

Also, I didn't Akihiko felt weird, I understand he used to be an human debris too, but I didn't remember he had such a strong connection with Aston. And the scene with Julietta crying for the bearded man felt weeeird.

I don't think it was about Aston. It seemed more to be about how this mercenary fuckface took advantage of their kids and turned what should have been a good opportunity for them to learn how to run an organization on Earth where it's safe, into a nightmare war where they died for nothing.

I just want to say how much I love that Akihiro's main weapon is just a giant pair of fuck-off pliers. Crushing shitlords to death like its his job. Brutal.

Ah man, I knew the death flags were for real but it still got me, poor Aston. I never asked for this feels :(

It was only right that Akihiro avenged Aston. I'm glad Mika didn't go frenzy against McGillis who killed his mate in front of him but out of self defense, terrible situation all around. I wounder if it were Takaki that died if Mika would've lost it tho. Husk really pissed me of this episode, but at least he realized he sucks by the end. Great episode all around, hopefully Masked men gets more show time next week, oh and what's up with Bug girl crying for someone she doesn't even know the name of? Really took me out a bit.

Yeah they're kind of unlikable assholes for the most part, I've been saying this for a while.

Also am I wrong to call Aston his wife or?

Caught up with this mini-arc. I really liked it and today's episode was really good.

Rustal's scheme with Arbrau totally makes sense when looking at it overall. Trying to discredit McGillis instead of fighting him head on would mean Gjallarhorn would be whole after Rustal took him down. It'd leave Rustal in a better position to take control of all their forces instead of just his single fleet. Using two newly setup defense forces that don't know which way was up and forcing them to fight into a stalemate is a pretty smart plan. I mean the conflict that's been happening since the start of the season has been the internal Gjallarhorn one, so this being an extension works.

I think what frustrated me most was Takaki being an idiot for the 3 episodes. He should have known something was up when he wasn't getting orders from Orga because of Radice. He actually he had that sense in the first ep of the arc but didn't stick with it because he got so enamored with his life on Earth. Now he's hardened up because of what happened with Aston.

Only other minor issue is that the movements with the economic blocs aren't really going to matter too much in the show when it should. Starting an armed conflict like that should have big ramifications for the setting but it feels so low key.

So I think this is the first time that someone other than Mika took out the Big Bad of the arc.

That didn't bother me so much. Takaki is like what, 14? This is first time being put in a real position of authority, and his decision was going to effect the lives of everyone else. I can't fault him for being indecisive.

Aston was part of the kids that he took on after their encounter with the Brewers. He probably dealt with Aston behind the scenes but it was probably more about how Akihiro felt about them as a group more than anything. Those kids were also the ones his little brother were with when he died and Akihiro probably felt he wanted to give them better lives, something he couldn't do for Masahiro.

Yeah, but Takaki spent a lot of time on the battlefield with Tekkadan under Orga. He should have been way more experienced than he was in these 3 eps, regardless of his age. It's compounded by the fact the other Tekkadan members were seeing things he didn't, namely that the battles they were fighting seemed really strange.

Good end to an otherwise poor arc.

My favourite part was probably Hush's development. He's been trending in the right direction (IE: He wants to be better than Mika, but he willingly wants Mika as a teacher. Realized he isn't worth much at the moment this episode compared to Mika), as opposed to becoming a Shinn character like many of us feared initially.

Also Lafter's hips...

LMAO does this dude (McGills) literally carry chocolate everywhere

and it isn't just any chocolate he always carries those kid friendly, celebratory wrapped ones like he just came back from a dollar store lol

He's a pedophile, par for the course. It's a miracle his Gundam isn't a creepy van.

Been on vacation and finally watched the last three episodes. Eh, glad they finished the arc with some great action. Love the feeling of all that weight during the battle sequences. Plus Azee and Lafter looking good.

Also, when "Gaelio" mentioned Gundam Vidar having a special system...

Nah man, the Gundam behind Gaelio is Ein.

Please be true.

For the past few episodes, all I've been getting is Takaki annoying me.

Come on, seriously. In fact, I think putting more development on Aston and killing Takaki would have been better. Then have Aston take care of Fuuka. From a human debris who gave up on life, to someone being a suddenly being someone's guardian. Maybe even have him leave Tekkadan (permanent or temporarily, or maybe at the end). It'll be a good overlap&contrast with Biscuit and Akihiro.

Especially considering that almost every character (more so on older members) in Tekkadan proper is turning into samey-samey hardboiled eggs.

Also, give Lafter a non-mook unit pls. I'd buy 5000 pcs of gunpla if they gave her a decent gandamu and more screentime.

Episode 29

This was a dope episode. That straight up gangsta shake down and killing plus the discovery on the Mars mine was hype.

I can tell the next two episodes will be a drag based on everyone's summary.

Gundam needs to stray away from the similar plot structures they do every series.

My sympathy for Tekkadan continues to drop with every episode. No fucks given for Aston. Akihiro is pretty much the only I feel a glimmer of affection for and they just foreshadowed his death.

Still not getting a handle on Julieta's character - can't tell if she's a 'wild child', overgrown clone or just suffering from signature Animu-speak weirdness.

I thought it was the other way around, but OK.

Making my way through episode 30.

So far this arc isn't as bad as that God awful colony arc from season 1. A lot of these characters I hardly remember nor care for.

The stuff with Aston is cool.

the actual plot is holding back this show.

Finally watched the newest episode, RideTakaki still canon
why did Aston have to die in a pointless fight, and he finally smiled but I didnt want it to happen this way. Kind of tragic too to make Takaki lvl up his responsibility skills in a cruel arc and conclusion :(

Hush is garbage skills wise. He needs a powerup fast.
