Monitoring the situation in Iran

Could be related. Could be unrelated. Don't know. But if it isn't, then it's a hell of a coincidence.

What I do know is the greedy corpo scum will use this as justification to push gas prices up another couple of $$$ for the consumer.

The fuel cost doesn't just vanish, it transfers, so of course home electric goes up but unless you have some terrible tier pricing it will be way less than gas. Tesla app shows you your savings when you put the cost per kWh in.

I would assume all depends on which state and the cost of electricity in that state like California is pretty expensive and how much they drive

I know back home in Indiana when my son switched to a Tesla his app shows he pays around $10 of extra electricity for 300 miles of range when charging at home

With some of the strictest gun laws in the country, guess criminals don't care about laws
Yeah, I mean if I use the AC daily in the summer my electric bill goes from $180 to well over $400 for a 1000 sqft apartment so our electricity is expensive, it's gone up a lot since covid, sadly everything has and nothing has come down. I used to live in a small house (1100 sqft) and have two separate AC units going there all summer long the bill was never over $200.

An extra $10 for 300 miles is pretty damned good compared to what I pay for gas, that's about how many miles I get on a full tank and it costs a hell of a lot more than $10 lol.

Can't wait for this New world of permanently higher energy prices.
It's not the energy that bothers me so much - and it shouldn't bother you as well. Problem is that everything has to be transported, so if transport gets more expensive, literally everything will get more expensive. And unlike Diesel, food prices usually do not drop when energy prices go back to normal... I hope they get this shit under control as otherwise there will be mayhem.

Fertilizers are also going to get way more expensive so the prices won't just increase because of transport, shit's going to be ridiculously expensive

Nah, his fan base will come up with a reason why it's a good thing under Trump.

A lot of them will certainly dance around the issue and all the lies in order to keep supporting him, this is true. I don't expect Bayou Billy in Louisiana to start voting Democrat due to all of this. There are also conservative voters that have grown to hate Trump's guts, but still won't bring themselves to go blue. But there will be some that will turn, and ultimately it's the Centrist Support that the Republic Party is hemorrhaging. The way things are going now, and especially if it continues to get worse, I don't see how Republicans don't get absolutely cooked in the Midterms. I don't think it'll be on an unprecedented level, but it's going to be pretty bad for Trump.

I'm happy to hear Iran offered Trump a present to show good faith in negotiations...is it another plane? historic shah crown?

They have founded AIPAC, the American Iran Public Affairs Committee, that will donate to his, um... "campaign" to help strengthen the commitment of the US-Iran alliance. Trump will now send them a few hundreds of billions in military aid, you know, typical ally stuff

That's all light infantry though, they ain't holding shit after they take whatever airfield they get dropped on.

When some armored divisions get called up, or even 10th Mountain, then things will get serious.

That's exactly why it sound more like high complexity highjack in Pickaxe mountain than taking Iranian litoral.

Timing news announcements to the market—maybe?— is hardly on the same level of stealing all the natural resource wealth of your country and depositing it to yourself and a handful of oligarchs while sending an entire generation of your male population to their deaths for fun.
As an analogue, sure, it's not the same scale, agreed. But as a point of comparison? I consider it valid. Trump clearly isn't interested in the standards of western democratic governing. He wants to be a dictator and has clear admiration for them. Trump has corrupted his nation's government, used its power to enrich his cronies and circumvent the law, is currently attempting to undermine its elections, has a para-military force killing citizens, and used the position he holds to enrich himself and his inner circle. And smarter people than me are still working through the impacts of his Venezuela and Iran moves, where we have reports of it being done at the behest of the oil industry all the way up to it being because of personal blackmail held by Mossad and Russia. Sending American troops to fight and die because you don't want the world to know you raped kids is certainly up there. Is he exactly Putin? No, he's not. But Putin's had, what, three decades of consolidation? Trump's on year two of his spree, and he's clearly working hard to emulate his idols.

This can't be…it must be TDS!

You can include 1000 links, but the point of comparison to Putin's Russia remains no less ridiculous. He's undermining our elections through pushing for voter ID, which every other democracy in the world already requires? He's "killing civilians with a paramilitary organization," aka enforcing existing immigration law while mentally unwell people are incited by third parties to impede and attack them?

There are real corruption concerns to talk about, like the crypto meme coin releases, and his penchant for making closed door deals with business leaders through tariff pressure et al, which is a departure from existing norms and arguably a characteristic of authoritarianism. And some of his appointees are grossly, comically incompetent loyalists. And it's rarely a sensible idea to believe a word that he says in his ten hours of bullshitting run-on sentences per day. I'm not a fan. But none of that has turned America into anything resembling Putin's Russia. Histrionics don't lend credence to the argument.

Nah, it's just as bad in the U.S. as it is in Russia that's why masses of people are trying to illegally immigrate into Russia just like they do into the U.S...............oh wait.

People being allowed to criticize Trump is probably the biggest difference here, in Russia you would AT LEAST get some prison time for that.

How can this be described other than derangement, if we take it in earnest. Rooting for a totalitarian regime which massacres and oppresses its own people. Because it would score petty points against the potus you don't like.

jfc. at first I thought this turd came from The Free Press. FP... thankfully it didn't.

I suppose we see this differently. And I'm not saying America is Russia, I'm saying Trump wants it to be and is trying to get the ball rolling. Trump wants what Putin has. My comparison is not controversial.
... He's undermining our elections through pushing for voter ID, which every other democracy in the world already requires?...
Specifically referring to the change in documentation requirements which impact legal citizens and mail-in-vote dates - yes, this undermines US elections by deliberately making it harder, or impossible depending on implementation timelines, for a specific portion of the population to vote. The number of documented cases of non-citizens voting is pretty small, as best as I can see. Yet, Trump has said he believes the changes will guarantee the Republicans the midterms. Sounds like he's expecting a pretty big impact - one that doesn't reflect the size of the stated need for these changes. This should tell you he knows its going to impact legal citizens voting.
... He's "killing civilians with a paramilitary organization," aka enforcing existing immigration law while mentally unwell people are incited by third parties to impede and attack them?...
Based on the video evidence alone, trying to chalk up all of these killings as "mentally unwell people" is absurd at best, and frankly kind of gross at worst.

While I don't disagree, there's little to be done, because the US system assumed that no one person controls all of it. Looking back at several countries who have gone down this road, the conversation worth having now is around preventing consolidation of power. Trump is waving around Trump 2028 hats and "jokingly" says elections aren't even needed anymore. He's told his country what he plans to do. He told them before he was re-elected.
