Pahlavi is too busy giving talks in Sweden. Fundamentally people have to understand that Pahlavi has zero influence in the inner circles of Iran. His family hasn't had influence for 40+ years. Basically two generations (usually a generation is around 25 years). He cannot pull the trick like Lenin as at least when Lenin arrived, he had some red army (well bolsheviks) - miilitary arm - supporting him. As long as within Iran there is no mass military support for him (like Artesh), he can only be "installed" via the foreign swords (aka ground invasion) that would prop him up there to prevent any coup from happening (like it often happens). Support from people does not matter in this case as we see that the protesters are powerless against the armed forces.
So the only way for him to get in power is for USA or Israel (or other foreign forces) to install him and prop him up one way or another (forcing for example Artesh to take his side). Artesh is a part of the other elite group within Iran but it is weaker than IRGC and Israel and USA are targeting IRGC as much as possible, but Artesh is still not doing anything because it seems like it is still not enough for them to make a move. All these bombings of installations, power plants, roads and such are essentially the costs that USA and Israel are incurring on Iran so that the elites within Iran decided to cut off IRGC due to paying too high prices of keeping them in power.
Liberation is a relatively term really - IRGC is not becoming stronger, its positions are waning, Basij is growing weaker and so on. If the war ends and IRGC stays in power we can safely expect a civil war in the country sooner or later.

And goals will change depending if enough time had passed so people forget the news cycle from 6 months ago. Our secretary of war was a former fox news host, who somehow got his medal of honor for being infantry, probably stationed miles away but awarded. And people consider him to be a hero. Our war strategy hinges on people like this.

I watched Rubio say something along the lines of, "I can't stress this enough, the goal of this operation is to destroy Iran's nuclear capabilities." This was at the the start.
The goal was to avoid another North Korea situation where you have a shitbag government with nukes.

There has been no draft since Vietnam. If there was a draft, there would near 100% opposition, although even without a draft the polls are not looking good. I remember reading during the GWOT about the warrior caste, where most servicemen are multi-generational, therefore the war's impacts are not felt outside of this bubble.

Well to be fair, multiple countries around the world have tried to genocide jews. Even with Israel at one point they fought each and every country around them. And still till this day they have enemies attacking them with missiles and drones. They are free to do whatever.
Well to be fair, a lot of modern generals got their medals without winning any war or even participating in real combat - just through a pure bureucracy. One of the reasons why during the war you have less generals than in a peaceful times. During the war time though a lot of people fron low ranks go up because then you need someone else instead of bureacracy.

People forget that most of the governments do not want to deal with draft because you basically get tons of incompetent troops that has to be trained and controlled in combat, not having years of training. It is basically a solution to throw bodies into a meat grinder. So with the draft it is their wishful thinking.

If Trump backs off, he'll expose himself as a pufferfish to the whole world, and no country takes his threats serious again. This is part of why behaving like a teenager in a COD Lobby on social media is stupid and irresponsible behavior for the POTUS.
I don't know what's going to happen tonight, but it has the potential to get pretty ugly. Either he delays it because of "last minute negotiations", bombs only a few specific targets and calls it the swiftest and greatest strike in the history of mankind, or we do end up seeing him go scorched Earth and shit gets real scary.
