Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate announced for Wii U/3DS, coming to West, no 3DS online

I'm curious if this is HD or "HD". Monster Hunter Portable 3 for PS3 is after all called HD version, but it is basically the PSP version.
It's the same game running in HD with online play. If they were gonna remake it they wouldn't call it just HD version. I suppose they can do some minor enhancements here and there like use the more detailed Wii Tri stuff where available over Portable 3rd's downscaled stuff and improving the lighting and shadows but I wouldn't expect much or be surprised if they didn't even do that (perhaps with an excuse for the assets if they don't have better versions of the content that's only been on PSP & 3DS).

There's nothing about these that makes them require quotes for the HD part as long as they're actually in HD.

SCREAMING AND CRYING RIGHT NOW.

Actual tears of joy. This is the best day of my life. I was shocked to see it on WiiU and half pissed because I want these games handheld.. but then we get both. Crying.

It's nice to get Monster Hunter again but it's yet another port for the WiiU. The dream of a real HD Monter Hunter will probably never be fulfilled.

Yeah, i wasnt thinking of a full remake, i was thinking more if enhancements were done. Portable 3 HD is just the PSP gaming running in an emulator with optional(?) filters on top if i'm not mistaken. Was just curious about it, not saying that using HD was wrong.

But regardless of this, great news seeing that many people here have been waiting for this for quite some time now :)

CAPCOM CONFIRMS MONSTER HUNTER™ 3 ULTIMATE FOR RELEASE IN MARCH 2013

The Most Expansive Instalment in the Monster Hunter™ Series Comes to Europe and North America

London, UK – September 13th, 2012 - Capcom, a leading worldwide developer and publisher of video games, today confirmed that Monster Hunter™ 3 Ultimate will be launching on Nintendo’s Wii U™ console and Nintendo 3DS™ system across Europe and North America in March 2013.

The popular fantasy action franchise Monster Hunter™ is now one of the most iconic gaming series in the world selling over 21 million copies worldwide since the series began in 2004. Players take on the role of a hunter and are sent to explore a settlement within the Monster Hunter™ universe, completing quests on their journey to seek and slay monsters whilst improving their skills and earning equipment upgrades. With many challenging monsters and over 200 quests the latest edition to the series is set to be the most expansive offering to date.

Monster Hunter™ 3 Ultimate utilises the functionalities of the Wii U console and Nintendo 3DS system to provide players with a truly intuitive hunting experience. The touch screen feature of both platforms allows players to quickly access in-game books, weapons, field maps and mini games whilst the high quality graphics of Wii U and 3D visuals of Nintendo 3DS powered by the latest iteration of Capcom’s MT Framework deliver a unique and stunning world for players to explore. Taking advantage of the portability of Nintendo 3DS, players can exchange their guild card that contains all their hunter’s information with other players via StreetPass™.

Players can experience the world of Monster Hunter™ alone or in four player local play using Nintendo 3DS. Finding nearby hunters to adventure on quests with is now even easier via the local Nintendo 3DS search feature. Wii U players will be able to enjoy the hunt with Nintendo 3DS players via a local wireless connection. Gamers that own both a Wii U and Nintendo 3DS can take advantage of the inter compatibility of save data between the two consoles, taking the hunt from the living room wherever they go.

great news. Surprised by the number of kids on the stream thread saying there was no news. Guess there's always the part of the group that only plays CoD.

Sync saves.. my mind, my mind. This is so good. I'm going to be out of the country for a year and only the 3DS version will be played for the first couple of months. If I get home and buy a Wii U I can continue the game in HD and online and go back and forth. I was asking for so little.. and they gave us so much.. Capgod.. capgod. Why did you have to make me doubt you.

That's what it sounds like. Doubt they going to update the eDS version for the west in functionality like that.
It's a little bit crazy that the PR doesn't even mention that the wii U version will have online play. I mean, what's the point of the wii U version if it doesn't?
