If anything the trailer would look even worse. The reception would have been a lot more positive if it was announced for Switch/3DS.
Because it obviously is.
It's like people have forgotten the MH4 reveal trailer with just a dude running away.
Honestly as a Monster Hunter fan I was disappointed. This isn't really what I want out of the series

I'll admit that the 'westernized' rumor did a number on me though.
What are the fundamental changes? I like MonHun, but I've only played 2 of them (MH4U and Generations) so it's hard for me to pick out "fundamental" changes.

Can't say MHW is particularly spectacular looking
That was a conceptual trailer for a game that was two years away. This is a trailer for a game that's out in less than a year.
Looked really bland, I'll admit. Can't say MHW is particularly spectacular looking
I think what bothers people is the weird detective mode, the grappling hook, and other quality of life stuff they're adding to the game. Some may love that but others are weary that it ruins what makes Monster Hunter a fun, challenging series.
Not showing all of the weapons or a HUD really raises those questions and even I'm a bit weary that we're getting Lost Planet mechanics in a game that honestly didn't need them.
"I-I-IT WILL NEVER COME TO PS4"
>Gets announced on PS4/Xbox One and PC
"I-I-IT'S CASUALIZED WESTERN TRASH"
>Developed by the exact same team who made Monster Hunter 1,2, 3 and 4 - I.e the only good Monster Hunter games with the GOAT director Kaname himself
"I-I-IT'S A SPIN OFF"
>Confirmed not a spin off

I-I-It's not portable, where Monster Hunter shines.
I really don't know why people keep trying to make this a console wars thing. It's not a console wars thing at all.
I-I-It's not portable, where Monster Hunter shines.
Did you watch the intial gameplay trailer for Uncharted 4? You know the one with all the climbing and the sliding and slipping around that looks really cool?
Looks alot like this to me. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xe-RAeDfOMM&t=3s
There's no reason for the bowgun to operate like a machine gun pulled outta gear of war.
Same leads =/= same team.
I mean, looking at what they showed and assuming it will just be what some other version of 'detective vision' is and not be in any way different is a big assumption.
Quality-of-life changes sound long overdue for this series if anything, and I would argue that there's a difference between busywork and something being challenging. Just taking their last game, say, XX, and making it prettier seems like a waste of effort if they're not going to make any changes.
Lastly, I don't think there is any good way they could have possibly shown all the weapons in a single trailer without making it just about that. I imagine the lack of a HUD is to make cuts easier and more like a trailer than a gameplay video, but this really sounds like a big overreaction.

I read on Twitter that it has regenerating health, is that true? Because if so...

I kind of disagree with the notion that this was a trailer that caters to old fans. I mean, just the reaction on this thread alone contradicts it. If they had confirmed that the Monster Hunter everyone likes wouldn't change much and everything on the trailer is just QoL additions, there wouldn't be so much confusion and the reception would have been more positive. It actually seems like a trailer that caters to people new to the series, or more like those with a basic understanding of it and nothing more, as it's trying to be as flashy as it can.

I read it has fully regenerating health, not just the red areas.
Would that make you happy or sad?
...
what's next though
Uh? Souls had health regenerating effects since the beginningLet's just wait and see. Hell, even the soul games - the pinnacle of hardcore - now have items that give you regenerating health.
Where?I read
It's the same team. This is being developed as the next major game in the series and the first 5th Gen game.
this thread could filled with:
I'll wait for the G-Rank version

Really? I remember there being a huge uproar about the health regeneration ring in DS2.

From Arekkz on Reddit, a guy known in the MH community,
- The game is NOT a spin-off, it is main series
From Arekkz on Reddit, a guy known in the MH community,
- Multiplayer is now "drop in", so if you begin a quest solo, your friends can join you. This is what the flare is used for from the gameplay trailer.
- Underwater exploration was seen but they have confirmed underwater combat will NOT be making a return
- The map is fully open, and there will NOT be loading zones between areas, so gone are the days of running out of the zone to hide or heal
- All 14 weapons are confirmed to be returning (thanks Kogath for the link)

Off topic but i kinda enjoyed the patapon/animal crossing wannabe clone thingy cat game.I read that it's as much a main-series as MHX is. I think the only thing Capcom considers a spin-off are MH Stories and those weird cat games.
Knew it, thats why stuff like hiding is in.
So..Is there any validity that Sony blocked Nintendo from this "multiplatform" game as rumors suggested? Why would they feel threatened?
