So for those who have played it - is it worth the $30? I love card games and it seems interesting.

If the fanservice and rubbing minigame aspects don't bother you, it's definitely worth checking out for $30. I paid whatever the price was at release to import it, 6000 yen or whatever, and thought it was worth it. The card battle mechanics themselves are nothing complicated, but comboing and upgrading your cards on the field creates interesting possibilities in addition to the four "classes" of cards (melee, caster, healer, archer).

Did some searching and it seems like the cards you can get from "Pack 1" are available in the post-game normally. That leads me to believe the subsequent packs might be entirely new cards. The + packs contain the same type of card as the non + packs, but they come already upgraded. Similarly for the ++ packs.

Thanks for the details on the DLC. I'm mostly interested in any new cards. Packs 1 and 2 have the same description but Pack 3 specifically says "newly added" cards. I didn't import so I have no way of knowing which is which though.

I'm assuming the various voice packs aren't unlockable in-game?

Pretty sure the voices are only obtained via DLC. They also seem kind of pointless since the minigame lasts maybe 30 seconds each time.

srsly wheres the information on dis dlc stuff

Sorry about that; didn't think to look for any information on DLC.

Looks like this is the JP page for DLC for that game? Not really sure what it says though so someone who could translate it would be much appreciated.

So far the reviews are praising the gameplay:

Gamestlyle

Thanks. Putting these in the OP.

This is what I remember from playing the game last year:

You can obtain seal stones in normal gameplay but they are somewhat rare, you can also earn them from online battles. They're probably not worth buying because you still need enough points to upgrade cards, and the game isn't so hard that you need a bunch of top level cards.

Don't buy the rub points, you earn plenty through normal gameplay.

The in-battle items (like the one that says it moves your units forward 1 square) are just a money grab, the game is not difficult.

There are some interesting items like the one that lets you upgrade a card without having to do the rubbing minigame, but at 50 cents a pop, it's not worth it. Unless you really hate the rubbing minigame. Even then, you'd need a lot of those items over the course of the game.

Mm, this helps a lot. I'll put this in the OP too.

So we should or shouldn't buy the rare packs? It says the cards are random. Are these repeatable purchases?

I don't know enough about them to say for sure either way, but I I'm pretty sure that the cards from the packs are higher level and definitely not required for early in the game. I would say wait and see until someone else buys them and finds out.

Ooooooooo you get the Nep-nep card right off the bat!

SERIOUSLY? I didn't even know there were Neptunia cards (or just the one card? Still awesome either way).

Edit: The Neptune card doesn't get too gratuitous, does it? I don't like the idea of an overtly sexualized Neptune.

Is this one of those games where people will claim actually has good "gameplay" but in reality was developed by a group of people who are either already shunned by society at large, or who had so little confidence in their game design that they felt the need to make a major mechanic involving "rubbing" the screen to give drawings of young looking girls "pleasure"? Simply sick either way.

What if I told you it is a good game?

This looks like the kind of game I'd have no qualms about playing in the middle of a packed train carriage with the volume on max.

Just open randomly gelbooru links and tap your monitor and save $30
Sure, and there would be better monster girl designs... but it's static and no voice acting. It's not really a fair comparison. Is there any kind of depth to the minigame's gameplay, or is it really just indiscriminate vigorous rubbing like in that gif?

Don't worry,
her second stage is Purple Heart.

I'm enjoying this so far, it's actually a pretty good card game. Even with the lewd touching minigame, you need to hunt for the sensitive bits, use the right kind of touch, and do it within the time limit.

Jeez. Those were the cards? I don't typically mind fanservice, but those cards are pretty ridiculous. And WTF is going on in the top left picture?

Been playing for the past hour or so and I'm really enjoying it. Battles are fun and I like the art and overall presentation of the game. Glad I took the plunge, definitely worth it.

If you want to post pornographic imagery, you can go somewhere else. Read the rules.

Eh, the cards are so tame.
Fully clothed and everything.
But are we going to define pornographic as "I know it when I see it"?
TR Lara Croft deathscenes are probably worse than these cards.
