More Elden Ring Footage - Liurnia of the Lakes

Demons Souls is next gen exclusive. Elden Ring is cross gen with an obvious last gen base, not sure why they are being compsred

When they do a next gen exclusive it will be a big step up

And why is it me who does the cherry picking and not you?

Dark Souls 3 was my favorite game last gen btw. In case you think i'm biased against FROM games.

Because you implied that there's no shadow casting indoor. So yea, you kind of have to be nit picky or have an agenda to spread this shit around like it's facts.

For the majority of time, yeah, there are no shadows indoor. There is new footage on other threads that pretty much proves me right.

But please, tell me more about this "agenda".

And i don't get why you get so offended because someone mentions something a game doesn't do well and could be improved.

I mean, I get complaining in some instances, and I get holding things to a certain standard in 2022, but I feel like we're two posts away from "this looks like a PS2 game,"
From games for me, fall in that category that the art direction is so solid that i couldn't give two shits about texturing or shadows or whatever and i do love to see good shadowing and texturing in games (Witcher 3 etc.). You're pretty much mesmerized just by the whole look of an area ,that you don't care about the rest. The solid combat also helps of course.

I really hope we're not going to get new threads for every single piece of media drop that comes with this game.
Bet we'll get a thread on how much GB is it on consoles... 👀

Sadly, I don't think this kind of hyper product worship will stop anytime soon.

Replaying DS3 now. Not sure why but I'm enjoying more the second time through.

One thing that annoyed me about DS3 was the change to the magic/miracles/pyro system. I like that each ability had limited uses in the first 2 souls games. That way you had to use multiple spells to beat the game. As it stands with DS3 I just use the strongest magic arrow 99% of the time, with the odd quicker souls arrow or pestilent mist thrown in.

Any idea what the system is in Elden Ring?

I was really looking forward to this but in the build up started playing ds3. I'm right at the end struggling with the twin priests near the final boss. It's burnt me out with From Software games for a while so looking forward to Horizon 2.

Will come back to Elden Ring.
Graphically it doesn't look the jump I would have hoped compared to Demon Souls remake either.

I'm seeing a shadow cast from the player from some lights but way more shadow casting light sources should be switched on for next generation and pc in my opinion.

I really hope the ray tracing is shadows and lighting as I'm okay without ray traced reflections in this game if it has to be a choice.

Does anyone know what what the ray tracing is going to be?

Man it's really sad that lately most threads in GAF just gets reduced to graphic whoring and kill any proper conversation.

Some people in this thread have obvious hate boners against fromsoft games lmao

The people that suck at them.
I've yet to have one explanation as to what makes the games so special. It all boils down to "teh lore".

Theres literally nothing special from a gameplay or graphic perspective. In fact it looks outdated as fuck on both fronts. And even with the admittedly great lore, its told in a way (story, presentation, production values) that make all that shit purposeless. Devalues the entire thing

Thats mostly your problem, most people enjoy the combat and exploration in FROM games and no amount of "explanation" going help you.

Is this like astroturfing? Are Sony fans trying to convince us to go play Horizon Forbidden west or something? The literal definition of brain dead cinematic games with yellow/white highlights for climbing or gripping ledges and with a GPS marker for missions?

Go play that "special" gameplay I guess. Couldn't even bother finishing the first one on PC since it's so mind numbing. Couldn't even surpass BOTW in physics, a fucking Wii U game.

yea do you see those blades of grass?
That is nothing to do with being lazy but rather From graphics engine limitation

Try again
usually you overcome your limitations not go stale. Unless of course you have people like you defending laziness. Who do you think works with the engine? "From graphics engine limitation" for fucks sakes its in the name who else is supposed to improve it? Bluepoint?

I don't care that much about the lore tbh. For me those games are special because:
  • Grounded melee combat. Just attack, dodge and guard with the ocassional parry. Not a lot of bullshit mechanics or skill involved in the button pressing (no crazy DMC stuff here), but in being patient and learning to read your enemies. That's very cool to me, as it makes each and every encounter something tense and actually dangerous.
  • The save system. No try "let's try this shit, fuck up and load your saved game" available. This means each and every of your actions will have consequences. Not a lot of games do this.
  • The exploration. You never know what will be beyond the fog... or just around the corner. Cool as fuck since it keeps you on your toes and offers a lot of potential for surprises, both good and bad, like some mini-boss or the entrance to a whole new area. The open world in Elden Ring could make this even better.
  • The setting + art design. Dark fantasy is cool and there aren't that many games that represent it so well. Character and enemy design is always amazing in those games.
And then there's all the build variety, finding secrets, the dopamine rush after beating a boss, the multiplayer... Add to all of that the sense of adventure the open world could add to the mix, and you should understand by now why people are really excited for this game even if the graphics kinda sucks at times.

Already pre-ordered the phisical edition that comes with a bunch of goodies and still cheaper than the cheapest digital version. :P

Usually i only pre-order 1 week before the game launches, but got spooked by seeing the game sold out in some places (already restocked).

So im ready to praise the sun, and look for amazing chests ahead.

It's the combat, enemy variety, bosses, the challenge, the atmosphere, world and the wonderful art/designs. The bosses are a particular highlight for me and the epic music. How many supposedly modern games actually have a more simplistic cinematic style of gameplay which feels more outdated?

Why does it still look like the same assets and animations from Dark Souls 1?

I'm pretty hyped but wow do these guys not like change.
We're u here for that amazing dark souls 1 thread about its frames and animations? They are top notch, top of the line shit. Look it up google, an old era thread about it. Gifs in slow motion. Amazing stuff compared to 90% of games.

Well its look alright for a old gen(ps4/xbox one) game at least . I find Sekiro look better though , but this game definitely bigger .

No graphic-whoring here. I just hope my 1660 TI can do it justice.
Better bold and highlight that first sentence. Maybe add a gif with sparkles around it because I damn near got my head torn off for raising questions about the graphics.

I hope theres an OT created for this game. I'll need all the help I can get.
