Most honest trailer ever, Outer Worlds 2

I personally loved the WOAAAHHHHH sound... gave me the hypes!
no game with a WHOAAAHHHH sound in the trailer can be bad!

but for real, the first one was one of the best western RPGs in a long time. actually good gameplay, actually interesting choices and gameplay decisions. + not that many technical problems that I encountered on PC... and I always expect something in western RPGs to go freaking hilariously wrong at any time

Funny, that they get the problem. Not funny in that they still DON'T get the problem.

Why are we still showing off games that have no shot of releasing until 2023 or later and haven't even begun production?

they literally made fun of Microsoft, who most likely wanted them to officially announce it even tho they have nothing to show. and they simply had fun with it
and I like that.

also you kinda are forced to do it. if you don't then people will go "where are the games???" and won't shut up about it. I also think that games are way too early announced these days.
but at least it's not as bad as movies lol... when were Avatar 2 to 4 announced again? wasn't that years ago already, and the 2nd one isn't even out and wasn't shown yet... did they start filming it yet?

this.

e3 was better when they actually had....demonstrations.

but remember guys, this is a hobby kids partake in, and kids react to trailers like that.

I don't understand why people even go to movies. The previews tell the entire plot, or for comedies, show the only funny scenes.

But, that's completely off subject.

the crazy thing is that there is evidence pointing towards the fact that movies do better if they spoil stuff instead of if they wouldn't spoil it.
the hypothesis is that most people are comforted by the fact that they know what to expect going in, instead of taking a gamble, even tho the movie's premise is appealing to them

I mean it isnt that hard to figure out. They are driving up hype and consuner interest in a product they intend to release. Not sure what the big deal is, it makes complete sense.

Ugh. Looks like they are leaning into the snarky and cynical "deconstruct everything" angle.

A clever way to get something into the presentation. Their trailer had about as much useful content as a real trailer that wasn't mocking the industry. I enjoyed their take.

That was funny, but I really hope this is better than the first one. That game was a major disappointment.

Thankfully, this one is being developed with that sweet Micro$oft funding.

I don't get why people were disappointed by it. it plays better than any bethesda RPG ever, it has better leveldesign than them... it has a lot of player choice, good RPG mechanics that actually affect things.
what more do people want out of a western RPG? I really don't get it

Yep said it at the time as well. It would have been better to not even waste money or time on a trailer like this.

Maybe I'm just old and cranky.

the trailer looks like they used assets they already made for other stuff or as concepts, and just threw them into a trailer. my guess is that it didn't take much work to do

I had a lot of fun with it, but it very much wore out it's welcome by the end. It also had terrible perks.

Still work though.

If I was Phil I'd be like this until collectively the studios are pumping out a game a quarter which is their target:

Motivate Laurence Fishburne GIF by Where’d You Go Bernadette

Meta humor is just an excuse for not being genuinely funny.

The comedy comes at an expense of bitter reality. But of course, we'll keep laughing, as long as we're "in the know".

for me it was the only western RPG in ages that actually didn't feel like a mess. Bethesda's RPGs for example are just awful imo. the terrible controls, the bugs on every corner, the boring RPG elements (this is more true for stuff like Fallout 3-4 than Skyrim but Skyrim too is guilty of most of these)

it is finally a good western RPG that isn't topdown since... basically forever

Yea... very funny... haha, hopefully this one is even less subtle than the first game /s.
More serious i do hope this is all around better. I was excited for outerworlds, but it couldn't keep my attention.

Didn't they already tell you in the trailer? To booster presales without having anything to show.

I thought it was funny. Felt like the humor gearbox so desperately wants but always fails at.

Id say making fun of your shitty Cg trailer doesn't excuse just showing a shitty CG trailer. But then again the people who wrote this probably don't get to decide what gets announced and when.

Also how big is obsidian now ?
Are they working on Avowed, Grounded and this ?

Everyone does it. God of War and Ghost of Tshushima came out what, 5 and 7 years later? Most of MS's conference had things for the next year year and a half. I'm sure some will get pushed, but still. Maybe that's why they didn't show Avowed and others this time.
