In general, there are a large enough group of ignorant people that it's safe to say I hate Americans. But by the same token, I probably hate a lot of people in a lot of other countries too. Nothing wrong with that IMO. If you're dissatisfied with where you're at, there's no reason you should have to stay quiet about it. Afterall, that's the catalyst for change, getting vocal about your problems. I've always despised the US government, since I first moved here in the 80's. They've only exploited the islands and the rest of the Americas. It's a lot easier to see it when you're outside the country, b/c the news media here doesn't tell the full story of things. Really, in order to get a proper perspective, you HAVE to live on the other side of the fence for a bit, otherwise, you're just being spoonfed what your government wants you to hear.
As a result, it's easy to hate Americans, b/c a lot of the populace has bought into their own hype. The hype of America being the greatest country on the world. The hype of selfish greed. The hype of imperialism being masked as spreading democracy. During the Cold War, we villified the Russians for doing exactly what we did. It's one thing to have a government that lies to its citizens, but when the citizens eat it up wholesale and then have the nerve to turn around and blame other people in other countries for stuff, it's a bit...frustrating, to say the least. But it's not all Americans as evidenced by this forum alone. It's just easy to get that perception, b/c the morons seem to be the most vocal ones. It's not fair to paint everyone wit the same brush, but it's understandable. PEACE.
