I want this poster in my room.

I'll never not see her with a flashy yellow hair, but whatever. I seriously can't wait to see her fight with bakugou. Top 3 moment for me.

(Gives me hope for good female fights later, the thing we lack the most on shonen nowadays)

You have no soul. I pity your lack of sense of cute things and pastel colors.
Weep for this man, guys.

Also 5 more days till the anime starts!
Alright, this one is pretty good. I like that mom created an All Might for Deku.

Either shigaraki has something up his sleeve or he commited the worst mistake in abducting and trying to brainwash bakugou. Leaning for the former, tbh.

"Ive been won over by the way All Might looks when he wins"

So this was meant to be like the Sasuke arc right guys (͡° ͜ʖ ͡°).

Badass Bakugou

I like how this retrieval is being handled and how momo and todoroki comments on how ludicrous its to go and its for their own ego.

I like the latter, honestly. It's nice to see the villain make an understandable miscalculation once in a while.

He's failed too much as a villain, and i'm pretty sure he could've chosen someone better than bakugou (even tokoyami seems like someone who'd understand shigaraki's struggle better).

Yeah, but he doesn't know that. He went for the guy he figured was most likely to accept his offer, how was he supposed to know that under Bakugou's ENDLESS RAGE lay the heart of a hero?

Nah Bakugou made sense number 1 at the sports festival with what seemed like an unhinged personality to the Villains. Would have dealt a double blow if he did
?does?
join to the academy ruining even more of its image, to not just lose a hero but the most promising one out of the sports festival to the villains.

I don't know, for me shigaraki thinks deeper than that. It makes no sense for him to release Bakugou's bonds and try to "talk" to him into joining the dark side when he's seen how reckless and physically aggresive the kid is.

He presents his arguments and his anthropological/social commentary to a braindead dude who was chained to a podium because he couldn't even control himself when he was being crowned winner. He always needed something more than words. A quirk, some blackmailing, etc, and i bet we'll see that next chapter.

We assumed Bakugou was going to be a villain, even after we see his personal story! Why wouldn't Shigaraki think the same, when he knows less than we do?

Yeah, I just love how he subverts like every character box I try and fit him in. Best approximation is he's a firey Shonen hero, but then there's the fact that he's also a colossal asshole, and he's not the hero. He's not the bully, because he's actually got the skill to back up his attitude, he's not the rival because not only does he refuse to regard Deku as an equal, he's actually a hell of a lot better to boot. He's DEFINITELY not the Lancer. Very cool character.

My Hero Academia Anime |OT| If Batman and One Punch Man had a child.
My Hero Academia Anime |OT| So this is what a smart shonen protagonist feels like.

I can't decide on a OT title, so many choices.

Describing something as "If x met y" is probably the least interesting thing in the world to me. But thats just me.

I don't really think having a "smart" MC in a shonen is that out of the ordinary either. Deku never really struck me as that smart either.

I don't know, one of the main complains I always hear is "Love the series, but I hate how dumb x protagonist is"

To be honest, maybe what Deku has is common sense.

My Hero Academia Anime |OT| So this is what a shonen protagonist with common sense feels like.

But that doesn't fit.

Edit:
My Hero Academia Anime |OT| Come for the action, stay for the frog.

Second edit:
I could also go for the dumb puns.

Compared to Naruto, Ichigo, Luffy, Goku, Natsu, etc. (though those characters occasionally have their moments) I think Deku's use of strategy, attention to detail and dedication to study set him apart. There are lots of characters like him across all of shonen but I don't feel they often get the lead role nowadays and when people typically think of a "standard shonen hero" they don't envision someone like Deku. I think he has absolutely been a selling point for this manga so far and I wouldn't be surprised if others thought similarly.

He's on an entirely different level compared to a lot of the more popular ones, Natsu, Luffy, Naruto, Goku, whatever the Black CLover guy's name is, etc. LOTS of idiot heroes.

I would agree that it's not unheard of, but uncommon all the same.

I'd say Deku is pretty smart. He has a pure brawler style quirk but he mostly relies on wits to get things done. That was really apparent during the Sports Festival.

I can only think of two situations off the top of my head where he power of friendshipped or deus ex machina'd his way to victory; overcoming MC at the sports festival, and recently when he slugged the shit out of rocky villain guy (and paid the price for it by being essentially physically useless the rest of the arc)

I was thinking about that first Villain Attack, he does some strategizing there.

The contrast with his quirk is actually pretty great, he's got a ton of pure power but actually using it will destroy him nearly as fast as it will whoever he's hitting, so he's got to play it smart.
