Dual Sense Edger and Blower
Just finished the campaign on the Pro. First time with this series.
It's like a weird mixture of Gears of War, God of War and Alien. And I love Gears of War. Gameplay was solid, even badass at time with the finishes. Even if it blends shooting and melee (including parrying), it always feels pretty straightforward and easy to understand and master (which I appreciate a lot since I'm at a point where I don't have the patience for deep learning curves).
Story wise I honestly never understood what the hell was going on (seemed super cringey), and never cared, but it was a fun ride. The game looks and performs like a next-gen game. Visuals were unbelievable on the Pro, super crisp, and I can't believe this runs at 60 FPS with how much stuff is happening on the screen all the time, it's super chaotic (even overwhelming at times). DF reported some dips on certain extremely demanding sections but I could barely tell when playing.
As negatives I can say the game doesn't feature campaign matchmaking, which is unforgivable. This would be so freaking fun to play as coop but you can't unless you connect with your own friends. The game also gets repetitive so it's difficult to sustain long sessions. It also shares this flaw with Gears: ammo is never enough. Just when you're having a blast shooting mofos you run out of juice.
It lacks an unlocked frame-rate option, so when the inevitable PS6 releases, this game won't run beyond 60 unless it's patched, which is a shame.
Lastly, it seems to rely a bit too much on online servers. The game is all the time "connecting", "synching", even if you just want to do the campaign.
Anyways. I enjoyed this game. Will definitely go for the Platinum later, and certainly purchase the next entry.
