NateTheHate: Indiana Jones to come to PS5 in the first half of 2025, timed console exclusive for Xbox

I disagree. You can have both expandablity and simplicity. It's a question of engineering and design.
Theoretically? Maybe.

But we have NEVER seen such a product in the entire history of video game consoles. There is a reason for that.

And Xbox console hardware engineers have no talent to make a history-defying product.

Good, I'm going to get it day 1.

Something I think a lot of PC/Xbox fans don't get is that you don't want us(other console fanboys) back on PC. You want us right where we are fanboying for Sony and Nintendo. You think if everything was PC that there would be no argument over which brand is better? Let me tell you something, that is where the arguments BEGIN. You do not want PC parts fanboy wars you are not ready for our level of arrogance on such a subject. Right now you only deal with us in passing and go hang out with your scooby do and shaggy friends on Discord. Playstation fans can fuck that harmony all up if they migrate en masse. Leave us to our consoles and nothing will change. No change is good. Having a containment unit for us called Playstation is the best possible future for everyone.

Now you've seen us right. Do you really think we will start acting all friendly and nice if we all get on the same platform? We are perpetually unhappy. You don't not want to catch this bus.

Wonder if it'll be a game on a disc or the usual piece of paper with download code crap Microsoft's been serving up this generation

You know the answer to that. They're going to half ass the PS5 release just as bad as they did the Xbox release.

I'm pretty sure Sony requires a physical game release to have the actual game on the disc, something MS doesn't

~90% of PS5 games on a disc can be played directly from the disc contents without ever connecting the console to the Internet

The remaining 10% is mostly stuff like yearly sports title (Madden, FIFA, etc.) and live service games which necessarily need the Internet to patch to the latest version

It's frankly shocking that you can release a game on a disc and not be able to play it from just the disc.

I get it for online multiplayer games, but for a narrative based single player game to do this is frankly disgusting.

Jedi Survivor is a big SP game example that required a mandatory download on PS5 (and Xbox too), there might be more .. but it's not just Live Service or Online focused games.

modern games need far more bandwidth than what you can get by running a game off a disc. It's just not technically possible.

The EA logo on the box was enough to put me off, bullet dodged.

Trash publisher right down there with Ubisoft.

I'm not talking about downloading the game from disc to SDD.

I'm talking about additional internet downloads being required just to play the bloody game.

A coming disaster for game preservation.
