Soooo... some dumb ass from Craigs List thought he was going to catch me walking into an ambush scenario. I get to the spot where we were going to do the exchange. I get there and dude wants me to come into his house vs. meet me outside. I decline and we have a 3 min long phone convo where he's refusing to come out. Mama didnt raise no fool, so I got gone real quick.

2K11...it's serious business!!

another exclusive review from IGN?

I do hope the game is good though :) - what are the general thoughts on the demo... the last basketball game i played was 2k7 and i dont know if its just me but i thought 2k7 was a great game and 2k11 was quite hard and i struggled to really test the game out.

The demo overall is a clear upgrade over 2k10. Better movement, better shooting, good ball handling and a lot of nice touches to cut down on penetration and careless passes.

Unfortunately tough NBA 2k demos aren't even really demos...they are an extremely cut down version of the game to the point where features that are necessary to really play aren't even available. Dual player control, visible playcalling system, simulation mode, hell...even a playable camera angle (2k) are missing. None of us are going to get a true feel for what's on the table until we can really sink our teeth into this thing.

Better court spacing was the main thing I noticed this time around.

9.7

Verdict: With his airness back, the golden age teams back, and major tweaks to the AI and controls This is the greatest basketball game ever and probably the best sports game of this generation. The only setback was the player mode aside from that, everything is legendary. I don’t know how anybody will make a better game than this, but I guess I’ll just have to wait for NBA 2k12. Basketball fans forget about your lives, you’ll be playing NBA 2k11.

It is with absolute confidence that I give the ultimate tribute to basketball that is NBA 2K11 a 9.7 out of 10 (It would’ve recieved a 10 but that darn player mode)

The only thing I don't get about the player mode complaints is they aren't even mentioning that after you beat all the Jordan challenges you can take a rookie Jordan and play him through the career. That aspect alone will make me play the player mode.

Regardless I can't wait till Tuesday! Anyone hear if 2k11 is gonna be on Steam?

Lazar Hayward and Wayne Ellington (or Kosta Koufus) for Ammo and Yi?

I have to get a feel for my team before I talk deals. Seems a bit light for a 2x champion and the prince of China though!

:lol :lol I found a glitch. A pass I threw from just past the halfcourt line got deflected and the ball just bounced around in the air.

Need sliders BAD. The CPU D leaves players wide open. Gonna take a whole day off this week to make some sliders that will work before doing franchise mode.

Game needs a roster update as well. The list of missing players on the OS forum is pretty lengthy. Supposedly there will be one either release day or shortly after.

I really dug my player mode. Made a PG 3pt specialist. Was rated 3rd best pg behind Dwill and CP3 though would regularly put up 40-10-10. Lost its fun factor after I could get by the defender at will and dunk on every other play.

I dug it too, until my pg missed a wide open breakaway layup and proceeded to get benched. The starting level is too low, how would any of these guy get a camp invite when they can barely do basic stuff?. The rating system only recognizes stats(Some exceptions), it pegged me for intentionally fouling a SF who was on a 1-on-1 fastbreak against my 6-0 PG. (This is the one incident that I remember clearly because of how pissed I was)

I can't remember exactly but I believe it also penalized you for not winning the game despite your player barely getting 5 minutes of playing time. (I do 5 min quarters)

Granted it has been a long time since I played that mode, so maybe some things were fixed. I'll give it another go in 2K11 later today (hopefully).

For the PS3 league, do we usually institute a fastbreak rule? Not sure how much this can be exploited in 2K11, but a good rule that worked when I used to play in some of the OS leagues was no fast-breaking unless its off a turnover (steal or block). Last 3 mins of the game, anything goes though, if you're behind.

No offense but that's a terrible rule.

I would say that unless there's a problem with guys on defense getting back too slowly then that kind of rule should not be around. If you're getting fast-breaked a lot then just set your defensive settings to "Get back on D" or something instead of crashing the boards. Some people like running but call "run and gun" throwing half court passes all day and just going for their max PIP as fast as they can while shooting jumpers the rest of the way...it looks like in the demo that this kind of shit will be much harder to pull off so we can only hope.

I personally don't like so many rules. Just play the game and have fun, I hate having to play and go "gee I wonder if my opponent is mad that I just dunked on him for the 3rd time in a row even though his defense sucked" I know a lot of times people will complain this season but try finding a stop to the situation before bitching.

I agree with pheenix. Unless there's some type of unstoppable exploit, there shouldn't be too many restrictions. About the fast break out the inbounds, it seems as if 2K deliberately slowed down the animation between the inbounder getting the ball and actually being able to inbound to stop that kind of play.

Generally, the defense is already at half court by the time youre able to inbound that ball.

Anxiously awaiting my pre-order PC version from Amazon, thought I would check out my play time for 2k10. I think I played this game a bit too much.

Not bad for $19.99 over 12 months.

I like that IGN's one drawback was something that I was looking forward to. My Player was far too easy last year, and I had a friend get drafted by the Hornets as a PG only to surpass Paul as a starter only 10 games into the season. I really hope it's more challenging.

i will certainly be tweaking rules as the league nears launch and will be testing any exploits i am aware of. so if there are any ps3 participants willing to do testings with me in the next week or so, great!
And depending on how busy i am at work today, league thread should be up no later than tonight around 11pm pst.

Ps3 League:
18 current participants.
Pot total: $390 US

Possible My Player bug... :
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EfpU-k2sRYc

EDIT: I do wonder what type of scores this game would receive if Jordan wasn't included. The few reviews I have seen are all on the Jordan hype train. And while I love Jordan and it's really cool. I want to know how the game plays, etc. I am glad they have Jordan in the game but I just wonder if that is snowing over reviewers to some degree.

Huh, this is only $30 on the PC. How did 2k10 run?

I don't see it on steam. Is this going to be disc-only?

Darkness no more
Never played a basketball game since NBA Jam and I'm a huge fan of basketball. Fired up the demo for this and loved it. Going to buy this tommorow.

As long as you have an OK GPU and an Xbox 360 controller, the game is arguably superior on the PC (as the graphics are waaaay better and you have community rosters and other mods). The only downfall is possibly online, and it took a few months to get the patch last year.

I run full res on an iMac 27" with high detail. No screenshots as I'm at work, but it's beautiful.

NBA 2k has been on Steam for the past two years, but 2k11 hasn't shown up yet. I preordered from Amazon, which I'm kind of regretting right now.

It's going to be on Steam, but probably not until the game is out.

I don't understand the bug there. What, is it just not loading?

That is the bug. It never loads. :lol

So far it has been reported by two users over at Operation Sports. It only affects the My Player mode. Sad though. I was hoping to jump into that mode first. You can check out the bug/glitch thread here:http://www.operationsports.com/forums/nba-2k/447572-official-nba-2k11-bugs-glitches-thread.html

It seems to show up between 10 - 30 games in. But it doesn't seem to happen to everyone. So it might not be wide spread. Hard to tell right now with so few people with the game.
