I should hope LeBron would win a few playing with Prime Wade and Bosh. See how fucking ridiculous your response is?

Also, if you think Shaq wins 3 in a row without Kobe...smh...even Shaq doesn't believe that.
I don't think anyone would suggest both weren't integral. The point was that Kobe had superior talent around him compared to what LBJ every had around him for the overwhelming majority of his career. That's really not even a debate, so I think we can be a bit more genuine about a conversation than "lol not .500", right?

MJ never sucked in the finals. Curry has been mediocre in two straight.

Curry just doesn't have the size or height to adjust his game when his jumper is not going in. They played him hard and he tried to force his shot too much. I used to hate when Kobe would do the same but at the same time he would post up or drive and get fouled which would usually get him going.

Also, where are the cries of the East being weak now? I don't hear shit suddenly.

PREACH!

Amazing how that shit goes radio silent when the East chips over the 'superior' conference. I won't deny that around the middle and bottom there's probably some differences, but the talent at the top of the East and West is clearly closer than people want to admit.

I would trust Kobe more when the game is on the line. I also would say he has better handles, better moves, and could seemingly adapt his game a bit better the older he got. (like Jordan had to). He was more versatile on offense.

Regardless, giving the choice, I'd choose Lebron to build a team around...Probably.

None of this is true. LeBron is a far better offensive and defensive player than Kobe was, and I love Kobe. There are certain specific areas where Kobe is better, things like footwork or turnaround jumper, but overall LeBron could score just as well as Kobe and do it in a much more efficient way. The media characterization of Kobe and LeBron over the last 10 or so years has really colored the way people look at the two of them. Kobe is an all time great, LeBron might be the best ever.

this post is basically the go-to formula for people that don't actually watch/understand basketball but invariably consume a lot of nba-related content in the form of espn talk shows, bleacher-report articles, and r/nba responses

outside of LBJ's poor jumper there is nothing basketball-related that Kobe was ever better at than lbj is

Well said

Of all the Cavs-Agers that came and went, K. Jack was the realest.

Congrats, fam...I am genuinely happy for fans like you...but it's still fuck you, Dan Gilbert for me. Fucking baby throws a tantrum and still eventually gets his way.

America.

Yeah he showed more passion in his letter about Lebron than when we ACTUALLY won the title!

To me it's about the Land. The People! We went to games when we had Ricky Davis and Darius Miles. Andre Miller, Potapenko! People that cried when Mesa blew the finals. NE Ohio has nothing but Cedar Point & sports. We are fine with that. We don't complain and we finally are rewarded for our loyalty.

Iverson was my favorite player dude would drive down the paint with no fear and he's smaller than curry

LeBron didn't have top talent around him from 2010-2014? Again, we pretend that Kobe was somehow carried to 3 chips by Shaq and LeBron had no help during those Heat years. That is why these conversations go nowhere.

FTFY.

Nobody is saying Shaq will win without Kobe. Shaq is just the best player on that threepeat by a good margin, no question.

Yup no question he was but it was closer to 1a/1b than a/b. Basically Shaq was the best player in the game then being second to him is no insult.

As a lifelong Clevelander, I can't believe it. I work for the flagship radio station, my shift starts at 5am...... I'm at work right now because I can't imagine going to sleep. The postgame show is great and we're going to go into the night until our morning show starts at 5.

Couldn't have said it better.

The funny thing is by losing, Golden State pretty much guaranteed no one will ever break their regular season record. Because now every team will be like "yeah, and in the end they wore out and got injuries and didn't win it." So any team that gets close will just rest everyone.

let's get back to the important part of the thread which is that the Cleveland cavs won the NBA finals

Nah man we're past that already. :p

But did they really stole a fire truck?

magic, jordan, KAJ are all clearly ahead of LeBron. i doubt he touches any of them. but top 5 is in play for him at this point.

Barring career-ending injuries, Bron still has enough time to catch up legacy-wise. I'll still put Duncan ahead of him as of right now to be honest. But he's getting there.

I'm glad I watched this game live and witnessed historic plays. That was an amazing end to the series even though I didn't even have any stake in it. It's such a great story and the comeback and final 2 minutes of the game were mesmerizing to experience.

except lbj is literally better at basketball than both kareem and magic???

what you're really saying is magic and kareem have better basketball-related accomplishments, but the problem with that is how circumstantial all of that is

Let's not talk stupid now. East was weak as fuck. A healthy Miami was the only chance at giving Cleveland just a decent series. No one but Cleveland had a shot beating the West.

The West had 3 teams that could've chipped.

Specifically when you have no position to stand on. GG.

kobe has practically nothing over Lebron. Shooting, rebounding, assists, defense, clutch shots, Lebron is superior in all of these

Lebron was ranked by 538 #1 in clutch shooting stats, Kobe was dead last, and by a large margin dead last.

If you think LeBron and the heat was anywhere near shaq and co, especially with who the heat played, you obviously didn't watch the games.

Yawn...were the Heat the far and away best assembled talent at the time they were put together? Those Laker teams were great but you can only play who is in front of you at the time. At the time the Lakers were assembled, they were the best. So were the Heat and in that 4 year timeframe, LA went 3-1 and the Heat went 2-2.

So yes, when looking at those Heat teams, they probably would have gone 3-1 as well had LeBron not disappeared in the 4th quarters of that Mavs series, over and over again.

Please quote where I said Kobe was better at anything other than winning chips at a better percentage.

I will wait.

Kobe never had to be the best player on those Shaq teams, and arguably Gasol played better than him in the 2010 Finals. This is in contrast to LeBron, who had to be the best player on that Miami team. Wade was magnificent in 2011 season and finals, but every post season after that he was limited by some kind of nagging injury, and Bosh (while awesome) rebuilt his game around accentuating LeBron rather than being the kind of guy who could take the load off of LeBron's shoulders at times. So while on paper those Miami teams looked like super teams, in reality LeBron was carrying a team with injured costars and little depth because of signing the Big 3.
