LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.
Tmac's already in negotiations for a huge 6 or 7 year contract with the Rockets.

That would be funny...maybe then you Laker fans will actually admit he's a good player. :lol

DUH!

I admit he is a good player, but he needs to toughen up to be one of the best players in the league. They say there is no tougher place then Hollywood....... :D

Sports Guy talks about his NBATV weekend

11 p.m.: Knicks vs. Bulls (Game 4, 1993 Eastern Finals)

One of the definitive MJ Games. You know the phrase "blood money"? Any time MJ sprung for 40-plus on those Knicks teams, those points always felt like the NBA equivalent of blood money. He ended up with 54 in this one, which was like 75 against any other team. Poor John Starks -- he had a way of bringing the best out of people.

Anyway, that set the scene for ...

1 a.m.: Knicks vs. Bulls (Game 5, 1993 Eastern Finals)

The Charles Smith Game.

(Really, no other words are necessary. Unless you want to call it "The Chaz Smith Game." I'll leave it up to you.)

:)

3 a.m.: Rockets vs. Spurs (Game 2, 1995 Western Finals)

(Vengeance Scale Alert! Vengeance Scale Alert!)

Before this game, David Robinson was presented with his 1995 MVP award, so he gave a speech and thanked some of the centers who had won before him. Well, he didn't mention Hakeem. Big mistake. Hakeem exploded for 41 points and 16 boards, including 29 in the second half alone. For the series, Hakeem averaged 35.3 points, 12.5 rebounds, 5.0 assists, 4.1 blocks and 1.3 steals. You could even argue that Robinson's career was never quite the same. And it all started with that speech in Game 2.

:lol

2 p.m.: Bulls vs. Knicks (Game 3, 1992 Eastern Semis)

Hey, it's the Knicks team that ruined competitive basketball as we know it! They weren't as good as the Bulls, so they stole Detroit's Bad Boys routine and turned it up another 20 notches -- tons of cheapshots, incessant bullying and trash-talking -- and the league eventually passed those no-taunting/no-trash-talking rules to calm everything down. Now you can't look at someone cross-eyed without getting called for a technical, which has been a huge problem for Kurt Thomas.

Anyway, this was the series where X-Man pushed Pippen around like a prison guard for two-plus games, so MJ finally took matters into his own hands midway through Game 3. Heated, heated game. This might have been the last series in NBA history where both teams legitimately hated each other, with the possible exception of every scrimmage for the '96 Mavericks.

:lol

DM, I don't understand-- are those games showing for the whole country on NBA TV at those times, or did they arrange something special just for Bill Simmons, so that only he can view these games? Let me know within the hour, because I'll order NBA TV on the spot to finally get those Knick-Bull games on tape. :D

Start the rumor machine: Michael Jordan is playing basketball regularly again.

Jordan has been hooping it up this week at one of his favorite haunts, Hoops The Gym. He's been going head-to-head against such NBA veterans as Antoine Walker and Michael Finley and holding his own, according to a witness.

But before anyone starts getting the crazy idea of yet another comeback, consider this: Jordan is 41. He's been out of the NBA for a full season after averaging 20 points for Washington in 2002-03. And his next foray back into the league is expected to be in an ownership role.

Perhaps Jordan is just bored with retirement. Then again, stranger things have happened in Jordan's career.

Allen Iverson was one of the few top-tier NBA stars willing to play for the United States in the Olympics, and after Team USA was bounced in the semifinals Friday, the 76ers star had some harsh words for the NBA players who turned down the opportunity to represent their country.

"Any person that's selected to a team like this, it shouldn't be a question in your mind," Iverson told the Washington Post. "It shouldn't even be something to think about. You're honored to get a chance to represent your country, and what's better than that?"
Iverson wasn't invited to participate in the 2000 Olympics but was on the team that participated in a qualifying tournament last summer just for the right to reach the Olympics. And, while he didn't name names, questioned the players that would accept NBA riches yet refuse to represent their country.

"Anybody that grew up in the U.S. and is able to be a basketball player in the NBA, you understand what that country has done for you and your family," Iverson said. "It gave you an opportunity to support your family and be recognized as a household name. I mean, it's just an honor to be able to do something like that, and I would advise anybody that's selected to a team like this to take that honor and cherish it."

Shaquille O'Neal, Tracy McGrady, Kobe Bryant, Karl Malone, Jason Kidd, Ray Allen and Mike Bibby are among the NBA stars who turned down a chance to play in the Olympics.

Before Friday's 89-81 semifinal loss to Argentina, NBA commissioner David Stern begged reporters to stop talking about which players didn't come to Athens.

"We have a great, great team here

I understand and empathize with AI's sentiments. Fact of the matter is that there's no obligation for any of these players to don the USA jersey. And when these guys play for an extra month on the other side of the world, then fly back and wind up suffering injuries in the arena where they're actually getting paid, what does that get them? Nothing but grief in VC's case.

AI needs to STFU. Would he be saying that if they had won gold? No! Don't try to deflect the bashing (which is unfair IMO) from this Dream Team to the guys who didn't show :lol

Heh yeah, I was thinking that as well...he could've said that after any of the three previous losses, but waits till they couldn't get the gold to say it. Doesn't make his point any less valid, but still...

Like I said in IRC, I'm boycotting the NBA until I see a REAL team fielded for the Olympics. I want position players, I want heart, I want grit, and I want comittments. Until then, fuck off, NBA.

New Slam Kicks mag is out...T-Mac 4 looks really cool, except for some ugly ass leather strap at the back on the heel. Can't say I'm feeling the VC4. And Bron 2 doesn't look much different from the original.

Well of course......you're a Knicks fan. ;p

You're not going to say what actually is going to happen.

IMO, the Raps will contend for a championship. ;)

You guys will be skipping to the golf course in no time...especially with VC dreaming of Madison Ave. We have the talent, but just like the Dream Team we need to put it all together...

We Laker fans still love Shaq, but gawd we'd be pissed if Shaq gets back into "Orlando Magic" shape and starts hitting his free-throws with Miami.

I am a Shaq fan and I don't see him getting in shape either. I think his being fat is more to do with injuries now then with him being lazy (though he is pretty lazy).

No way Shaq makes his FTs unless he totally changes his technique, which isn't going to happen.

I wouldn't say he was in bad shape last year, so I don't see him having problems getting in shape this year... plus you've got the vengeance factor that should drive him for at least one year... it's the free throw percentage that I don't see changing that much.
