NeoGAF Votes: Most Anticipated Game of 2016 (Voting has been over for weeks)

1. Final Fantasy XV-the original versus trailer looked really cool to me because we had never seen a final fantasy styled game like that. then when they revealed the staff for it to consist of pretty much the same team as FF7 and KH1+2 it instantly became one of my most anticipated games. Then years of silence and a bullshit kotaku article i am still livid over it was finally rerevealed to be FFXV. Also, the sundtrack should make this the most anticipated game by far. its been a long time coming. almost there

2. Persona 5 -one of the many jrpg series i turned to after the dissapointment of FFXIII and KH's tendency to see how man spinoffs it could throw us(on different consoles lol) a friend suggested to try out the persona series so i started up P3 and to this day is one of my favorite games ever. Didnt like 4 nearly as much and dont ave a vita so no golden, but if it wasnt for FFXV this would be my most anticipated game

3.Legend of Zelda-cant remember where i had this ranked last year, but i know i had it and persona up there. OoT was the second video game i ever played behind pkmn yellow and i have been hooked on the series since then. every day i am praying that the open world approach they are taking doesnt make this into another open world victim like so many other great series that have put out new installments. Either way, a new console zelda is always one of the biggest events in every gen so im looking forward to it continuing the long tradition of the zelda cycle.
NOW YOU RURAIKU SKUWAIRAIDU SUWARDO

4. Star Fox Zero- Another long standing favorite series of mine, i think i had this on my list last year as well and it got delayed. now that i think about it, all of these were suppoosed to be out in 2015 except XV lol. really like how they have upgraded the praphics alot since this was first revealed, and the fact that platinum is involved makes it an almost guarantee to be fun

5. The Last Guardian- im pretty sure this is confirmed for 2016 now right? Ico and SOTC are 2 of my favorites, been looking forward to it since that original reveal trailer. man i wonder how jealous 14/15 year old me would be if he got to see me playing FFXV and TLG on my ps4 while he was trapped with a no gaems ps3 that he got for those 2 games specifically
________________________________________________________________________
also i doubt these count but

6. Dragons Dogma PC edition-picked up dark arissen on ps plus forever ago just because i always see /v/ praising that game, but didnt play it until this past year and it turned out to be my favorite game i played. my only complaint was the game was a technical mess on ps3, and ive heard its worse on ps4. seeing it played at 4k resolution at 60fps made me realise i was seeing one of the games from my dreams.

7. Destiny 2- while i dont think it has been formally announced,i think we all know this one is coming in september, especially with jschreir's recent reports on bungie abbandoning any more long term dlc for destiny and the fact high moon studios is basicly keeping destiny up and running right now, presumably so bungie's main guys can finish up 2. ive sunk the most time into destiny out of any game so far in this gen, and it was my most anticipated game for the ps4 at least until FFXV and MGS5 were revealed. as a long tme fan of halo, i really love destiny even with its shitty flaws, and i have faith that bungie can reclaim their magic with the sequel, because it would take a special kind of retard to make the same mistakes with the sequel.

1. No Man's Sky: The initial reveal a few years ago blew my mind. Ever since then all I've wanted to do is grab my ship and explore. Can't wait to finally get a chance next June.
2. The Legend of Zelda Wii U: This is what I've always wanted from a 3D Zelda game. The exploration of a giant where everything is seamless. Hopefully thats what we get.
3. Scalebound: Everything about this game excites me. RPG with dragons on a weird fantasy/sci fi like planet with a bunch of weird monsters to fight.
4. The Legend of Zelda Twilight Princess HD: My favorite Zelda game of all time. I honestly didn't think we'd get an HD version ever. I was more than a little happy when it was announced.
5. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: I rented Human Revolution from redbox knowing nothing about it when it came out. It was a huge surprise and this one looks even better.
6. Quantum Break: Loved Alan Wake and I love time travel.
7. Firewatch: I love me some walking simulators and the mystery element should be awesome.
8. Mirror's Edge Catalyst: Never thought we'd get a sequel. Can't wait to jump in (lol)
9. Abzû: Underwater Journey. Enough said.
10. Rime: Gave me Shadow of the Colossus vibes. Hopefully we finally get a date soon.

So many indie games to be excited for next year. I honestly cannot wait.

After some deep soul searching, I'm prepared to submit the following...

1. Zero Time Dilemma : I had actually given up hope that this would be made. My "drop everything and play it now" title of 2016.
2. Persona 5 : With Trails in the Sky SC and Xenoblade Chronicles X now released, Persona 5 goes up a spot to #2.
3. Torment: Tides of Numenera : Gotta love this recent CRPG revival.
4. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End : The most accomplished developer in the modern world releases the long-awaited conclusion to our 8-year odyssey with Nathan Drake.
5. South Park: The Fractured But Whole : Can't wait to buy this at my local Whole Foods. They sell games there, right?
6. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided : Square Enix has a game in a heralded franchise coming out next year that's worth getting excited about.
7. Gravity Rush 2 : Look what re-materialized out of the vaporware abyss (also known as Sony's Vita development teams).
8. Valkyria: Azure Revolution : Highly expect this will get delayed - but it should undoubtedly prove to be worth the wait.
9. Fire Emblem Fates : After jumping through so many hoops to land the Special Edition, here's hoping this installment delivers.
10. Firewatch : Has teased enough to have me compelled for what it will bring to the table.

1. XCOM 2
2. Uncharted 4
3. Dark Souls 3
4. Dishonored 2
5. Cuphead
6. Street Fighter V
7. Ne-oh
8. Deus Ex Mankind Divided

I would of course put Horizon and ME:Andromeda up but I'm still pretty skeptical of them launching next year.

1. The Witness: This is a game that has been kept so firmly under wraps by Blow and his team. What I’ve gathered makes it seem like something made for me: an exploration/puzzle driven game on a meticulously crafted island with interconnecting paths and puzzles. I get the feeling that this’ll be the kind of throwback where I’ll be needing to take some notes along the way (much like Fez recently). I think the team has a lot of secrets up their sleeve that quite a few people seem to be sleeping on. I can’t wait.

2. Scalebound: It’s a new Kamiya game. Everything he has touched is gold. I’m curious to see how this will pan out working with Microsoft.

3. Hitman: They’ve said and shown all the right things in spite of the staggered release plan so far.

4. Nier: Automata: Crazy Yoko Taro and the lovely Keiichi Okabe collaborating with the finest action game developers in the business? Yes please.

5. Uncharted 4: Having encounter design, gunplay, and movement that look and feel leagues above its predecessors along with new, talented creative leads at the wheel is making this look to be something special.

6. The Last Guardian: While I’m concerned in regards to its troubled development, this is still a new god damn Fumito Ueda directed Team Ico game.

7. Dishonored 2: Arkane getting the chance to expand on and refine a sequel to my favorite game of 2012? I'll take it. A little lower on my list since we’ve yet to see gameplay, but damn am I ready for this.

8. Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst: I’m very skeptical about its transition to an open world structure, but it’s a god damn Mirror’s Edge sequel.

9. Deus Ex: Mankind Divided: I asked for this.

10. Dragon’s Dogma: Dark Arisen (PC): It says a lot that I’m so excited about a port for a game I’ve already played and loved years ago. However, the technical hindrances of the original 360/PS3 versions will make this port like playing DD with new eyes.

1. Mass Effect Andromeda
2. Deus Ex
3. Halo Wars 2
4. Quantum Break
5. Ghost Recon
6. Uncharted 4
7. No Man's Sky

Nothing else I'm too excited about yet. Outside of Uncharted and Quantum Break everything seems to be late in the year.

1. Horizon: Zero Dawn : Guerilla finally doing something besides Killzone! It looks great both from a graphics and a gameplay standpoint and it looks right up my alley. Hopefully it can all come together.

2. No Man’s Sky : I don’t want or need to see anymore of this game to know that I want to play this game. I love the idea of exploring seemingly infinite amounts of planets and just exploring and upgrading stuff. If they announce PSVR support I will be in on both day one.

3. Uncharted 4: A Thief’s End : Naughty Dog makes great characters and has the best stories in video games, in my opinion and I have no reason to believe this game will be different. If they can finally not frustrate me with their gameplay and enemy encounters, then I’m pretty sure this will be one of the best of this year.

4. Far Cry Primal : I loved Far Cry 4 so hopefully this can scratch the same itch even if it’s a little different of a set up.

5. Firewatch : From the few videos I have seen the premise and setting look interesting. I’ve been holding off on seeing more stuff recently just so I can have a more fresh experience.

6. The Division : It looks like it has potential but I’m a little worried that I’ll be put off by some of the multiplayer components

7. The Witness : Another game that I am just ready to play already. After being announced almost 3 years ago at the PS4 reveal, I just want to just play around with it, even if I am the worst at puzzle games.

8. Lego Marvel’s Avengers : I love the Lego games. I love Marvel. I cannot wait to do everything in this game

9. ReCore : The only thing I know about this game is from the E3 press conference this past year. As a primarily PS4 gamer, I am looking forward to something that I would be interested in playing on my Xbox.

10. The Tomorrow Children : I really liked the look of this game since it was announced at 2014 Gamescom. As long as the multiplayer element isn’t too overpowering, it has the potential to be something good for me.

  5. No Man's Sky
  6. Amplitude
  7. Alienation
  8. Gravity Rush Remastered
I have a number of other titles I watch with great interest, though these are almost certainly must-buy for me. Maybe not day one for all of them, like No Man's Sky and Gravity Rush Remastered are seemingly targeting full price, which I am not paying for these.

I would of course put Horizon and ME:Andromeda up but I'm still pretty skeptical of them launching next year.
To reiterate how the voting works: Your choices shouldn't be made on what you feel will or will not make it next year, it should simply be what you're most looking forward to or are interested in out of the games announced for the 2016 calendar year, regardless of what your gut tells you.

Of course I'm not telling you or anyone else what to vote on, just providing some guidance! :)

  1. Horizon Zero Dawn - I remember seeing the concept art and thinking there was no way a dev would make a game revolving around robot dinos, but sure enough Guerrilla did it. This game just looks incredible and it's easily my most anticipated.
  2. Yooka-Laylee - Only game I've ever Kickstarted, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity. Banjo-Kazooie and Tooie are some of my all-time favorite games and I trust this crew of Rare vets to make a great 3D platformer.
  3. Mass Effect: Andromeda - Mass Effect is one of my favorite game series ever, and even though I'll miss some of the old characters (Garrus especially), I'm looking forward to having a clean slate in the ME universe.
  4. Uncharted 4 - I never played the other Uncharted games because I had a 360 last gen, but I can't miss out on this one.
  5. Ratchet & Clank - Grew up playing R&C on PS2 but I missed out on the PS3 games. It'll be good to get back into some R&C again, and this is looking fantastic.
  6. The Witness
  7. No Man's Sky
  8. The Division
  9. Overwatch
  10. Firewatch

Honorable Mention:
*Cuphead, Scalebound, Quantum Break, Crackdown 3, Gears of War- I don't have an X1 yet but I'm keeping an eye on these for sure.
*Hyper Light Drifter and RIME - Been waiting on these for a while so my anticipation has waned a bit, but I'm still looking forward to them whenever they do come out.
*The Last Guardian - Not all that excited for this, but I'm intrigued to see what it'll finally be like after all these years.
*The Tomorrow Children

1. Final Fantasy XV - This really shouldn't be at the top of my list but I haven't been excited for a main line FF game for a long time. I have high hopes for this game.

2. Mass Effect: Andromeda - I don't see any possible way this game will disappoint. Im ready for a new Sci Fi epic.

3. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End - This game is going to be comfort food from start to finish. I don't care how it scores I am going to love this game.

4. Zelda WiiU - The Wii U is the first Nintendo console Ive owned since the N64 so I've been going back and playing all of the games I missed and man I love this series. That music gets me every time.

5. Bravely Second: End Layer - Terrible name but I loved the first one, well until that one part. Its still an old school RPG at heart and that's exciting.

6. Horizon: Zero Dawn - I hope Guerrilla manages to break the mold on open world games with this one. Even if its a formulaic open world Im sure I will still enjoy it.

7. Deux Ex: Mankind Divided - I really enjoyed HR. I love the augmentations.

8. South Park: The Fractured But Whole - I had already moved on to my PS4 by the time the Stick of Truth came out so Im really hoping that they release that along with the new game.

9. No Man's Sky - Not really sure what this game is yet but I am going to get it for context if nothing else. Cautiously optimistic about this one.

10. The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess - I never got to play this game so Im excited to see it for the first time and without motion controls.

Note: If the rumors are true and Cyberpunk 2077 is releasing this year, that will jump way up to number 2 or 3 on my list. Loved the Witcher 3, CDPR is an elite dev.

4) Telltale Batman Game
5) SMT X FE

Those are the games I will probably (possibly?) buy at full price, so... yeah, that's about it. Really hoping my faith in Nintendo pays off with Zelda and the FE stuff. And that Bioware doesn't shit the bed with Andromeda, god, how awful would that be? Fairly high hopes for it though what with the whole new setting and all.

1. XCOM 2 : I've played XCOM to such an extent, that it is one of my GOAT and they've done amazing changes on design and gameplay.
There is turns countdown system now, so you couldn't play like a turtle, hack system, and so much more.
I couldn't be happier. It play it with all my love.

2. Horizon Zero Dawn : So litle has been said and still I'm in love with it. I want to see more of it. I want to buy it now and play.
The world settings are amazing, as the gameplay. Such variety. Much fossil technology.

3. Final Fantasy XV : What can I say about this game who we expect for so many years?
It's one of my most expected games every year, since it was shown as XIII Versus, as The Last Guardian.
I love the combat system, finally moving to action. This is what I've been wishing since the first trailer of FF XIII. You guys can't understand how was my face having to deal with such disappointment as FF XIII battle system...
And I want to know the history of the game, it's mechanics, the crazy gigantic summons and everything I can.

4. The Last Guardian : Description
5. No Man's Sky : Description
6. Firewatch : Description
7. Uncharted 4 : Description
8. Ratchet & Clank : Description
9. Alienation : Description
10. Dark Souls III : Description

I'll make this pretty, later.

And for the bonus round, here are my top 10 below top 10:
Hob
Overwatch
Battleborn
Brut@l
Mafia III
Ni-Oh
Headlander
Nier: Automata
Hyper Light Drifter
Hellblade

1. Uncharted 4: Naughty Dog is the best doing it
2. The Last Guardian: Ico & SOTC are two of my favorites. Can't wait to get back into another Team Ico game.
3. The Division: Anticipating this one for a long time, enjoyed what I played at E3
4. Abzu: Matt Nava + composer Austin Wintory (both of Journey acclaim) making a deep sea diving, exploration game. E3 demo I played was phenom, keep an eye on this one folks.
5. Below: Capy games is a favorite. Below art direction is lovely.
6. Enter the Gungeon: Loved the demo I played at PaxSouth. Excited for more.
7. Firewatch
8. LawBreakers
9. Rime
10. Gears of War 4

1. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End: No doubt in my mind this will be the best game in the series. Visually industry leaning, narratively accomplished, mechanically polished(peep the multiplayer beta). 100% confidence in this being great.

2. Nier Automata: This jumped way up my list after the last gameplay video. Nier was "interesting" more than it was good, but with Platinum developing it, maybe they can make a great game outside of its atmosphere and music.

3. Mass Effect: Andromeda: We haven't seen this game yet, but we actually know a lot about it through that survey leak. Dragon Age Inquisition applied to Mass Effect sounds kinda scary, except the combat/exploration/talking cycle with the latest Frostbite engine fascinates me. Can't wait to get back to this universe.

4. Dark Souls 3: Its like Dark Souls, without being hella slow and enemies actually giving me some kind of visceral feedback when I attack them. Plus PC for 1080p/60fps.

5. Street Fighter V: The return of the GOAT fighter. Love the look, like the focus on removing the bullshit that accumulated around SF4. It feels closer to Street Fighter Alpha 2 than anything, really. That excites me.

6. Deux Ex: Mankind Divided: I thought Human Revolution was a very good start for a modern Deus Ex, but there were a lot of things big and small that I think needed to be changed or polished for it to be great. Everything I've seen and read so far indicates Eidos Montreal is making that great Modern Deus Ex. Even if it takes a 6 month delay :/

7. Shadow Warrior 2: 4-player FPS co-op is so rare nowadays, and this looks like a blast. Closet thing I'll ever get to a Big Trouble in Little China game. Love the parkour and the increased limb destruction for all its many demons and ninjas and demon ninjas.

8. Iconcoclasts: Big fan of Noitu Love 2. Konjak just seems to have the same taste in 90s action games as I do. Colorful 2D worlds, polished mechanics that can be used in service of multiple clever level design ideas, and big boss fights. I'm also digging his focus on the world of Iconcoclasts, with its many charming characters. Looks really endearing.

9. Ni-Oh:
Ninja Gaiden + Dark Souls. I feel Team Ninja has been so lost since Ninja Gaiden Black, trying to figure out ways to evolve that game and they just don't know how. So maybe putting them inside a Dark Souls framework is for the best.

10. Gears of War 4:
I'm cautious about this cuz we haven't seen any of the multiplayer and that's what I care about. But Gears of War 3 is one of my all-time favorites, so being able to recapture those days is very important to me. I mean they can basically just port Gears of War 3's KOTH mode/maps/mechanics into GoW4 and its top 3-5 GOTY contender right there.

There's plenty of others I'm looking forward too. Mirror's Edge and Dishonored fit into that Deus Ex slot of being great ideas with really cool ideas and art design, but not great video games. Their 2015 next-gen installments could be their next step. Ratchet & Clank looks like an actual R&C game again, more gorgeous than ever. Cuphead not only looks like nothing I've ever seen before, but it also looks like a smart modern update to the Alien Soldier/Contra Hard Corps/Shattered Soldier boss marathon game. Zelda U would be on this list if I knew a goddamn thing about it. Rise of the Tomb Raider should be dope on PC at 1080/60fps, getting rid of that input lag for combat. XCOM2 really should be on my list tbh, it looks fuckin' amazing. Hyper Light Drifter dropped down my list when I heard it was 30fps, but I still think its gonna be a quality title. Hitman looks like the modern Blood Money sequel I've wanted for ten years, an apology for Absolution. Yooka-Laylee is a goddamn Banjo Kazooie sequel, continuing the trend of kickstarter letting devs make games that fell out of fashion with their publishers. There's also Mighty No.9, which is Mega Man in everything but name and ugly as sin. Probably gonna be a decent game, tho. Abzû looks like the game I wanted Ecco the Dolphin to be. A beautiful underwater experience that didn't have to fit into a 90s 16-bit action game formula. The Journey art design/music guys are readily apparent and very appreciated. Scalebound honestly doesn't look that interesting to me, but it is the new Hideki Kamiya action game so I I have to pay attention to it. Also Platinum is making a fuckin TMNT game!?

Man if even half of these games ends up being as good as I hope they are, 2016 gon be easily the best year since 2010 or 2007. The next-gen was really rolling then, devs had their shit together on the new engines, and there were a lot of great games in a variety of genres. And this only in genres I care about, cuz I know Persona 5 and FFXV gon be near the top of the list for the anime crowd.

1. Persona 5 : Persona 4 was an amazing game, and so far 5 seems to be even better, so this is a no brainer for me.

2. Street Fighter V : I like fighting games, and SF5 will almost definitely dominate the genre (popularity wise) for a long time. It also seems to be doing some interesting things with the online options (rollback-based netcode and PC crossplay), which makes me very excited about the game.

3. Dark Souls 3 : It's more Souls directed by Miyazaki, which is more than enough for me.

4. Torment: Tides of Numenera : Planescape Torment is one of the best games ever made, so this should probably be higher on the list. Unfortunately I don't feel like Tides of Numenera will be able to match Planescape, so I'm only putting it at number 4.

5. Nier Automata : Platinum games making a Nier sequel sounds pretty great.

6. Mass Effect: Andromeda : I have always enjoyed Mass Effect games, so I'm pretty excited for this one.

7. Total War: Warhammer : Even if this will probably be a broken mess, I'm still excited for a Total War game set in the Warhammer universe.

8. Final Fantasy XV : This is here mostly because the game has been in development for so long now, and I'm quite curious how it will turn out.

9. Dishonored 2 : Dishonored 1 was pretty good, even if most of the missions were a bit too straightforward, so I'm looking forward to the sequel.

10. XCOM 2 : XCOM: Enemy Unknown was pretty broken in a lot of places, and some of the gameplay choices were just plain bad, but I still had fun with it and I'm hoping the sequel will improve on the first game's shortcomings.

1. DOOM: This looks to be such a refreshing change of pace compared to the plethora of open-world RPGs and cover shooters that largely make up the AAA landscape. I've also played the Alpha and the gameplay feels so smooth and fun. If the campaign is well-designed, then I think this will take people by surprise, similar to Wolfenstein: The New Order but even more-so.

2. Thumper: I haven't seen much from this game, but it looks to be the ultimate audio-visual experience. I look forward to playing it on drugs.

3. Toejam & Earl: Back In The Groove: This installment is basically a suped up version of the original game that also incorporates the best elements from the sequels. Should be a great co-op experience.

4. Mass Effect: Andromeda: I'm worried that the new open-world design will cause this entry to lose the tight and well-crafted pacing I loved from Mass Effect 2 and 3. But with that said, the open-world can be a home run if done well since the Mass Effect universe is so cool.

5. Ratchet & Clank: Not much to say here. This looks to offer the same core Ratchet formula we all know and love, only with impressive current-gen tech. The best Ratchet installments are very well-paced and just a joy to play. This looks to be on that level.

6. Final Fantasy XV: Similar to my concerns regarding Mass Effect, I hope the new open-world design doesn't result in a repetitive experience filled with menial tasks. But I played Episode Duscae and I think the game is shaping up well. That Ramuh summon.....is the coolest thing I've seen.

7. Street Fighter V: Similar sentiments to Ratchet & Clank. The Street Fighter formula has been fun for 20 years now. The new boob tech is cool too.

8. South Park: Fractured But Whole: The first South Park game was great, but I felt the battle-system was too slow and mediocre. I believe the developers said one of their main priorities is to improve the battle-system, so this could end up nearly perfect.

9. Uncharted 4: As others have said, I usually don't ever get the urge to replay Uncharted games, but that first playthrough should be a hoot.

10. Dreams: Media Molecule has a great pedigree already and this looks to be so outside-of-the-box.

1. The Last Guardian : Team ICO games are of cultural significance, God willing TLG won't disappoint after such a long time
2. Uncharted 4 : looks like it can dethrone UC2 as the best ND game yet
3. Gravity Rush 2 : charming and gorgeous looking game with unique gameplay elements
4. Horizon: Zero Dawn : finally a WRPG with decent looking combat
5. Gran Turismo Sport
6. Persona 5
7. Scalebound : buying an Xbone for this
8. Final Fantasy XV
9. Ratchet & Clank
10. The Tomorrow Children

Honorable mentions: too many like Nier Automata, DQ11, Dreams, I don't think these will come out in 2016 in the West.

1) Yooka-Laylee : (thanks, front page, for reminding me about this) Banjo-Kazooie was a major player in my love for gaming as a child. So hype. Much want.
2) Zelda Wii U
3) ReCore : (assuming that doesn't get pushed)
4) Scalebound : I like dragons and such, and as with ReCore, Xbox One is in desperate need of high-profile things that aren't FPSes.
5) Final Fantasy XV : It's a Final Fantasy, I am incapable of not buying it

4. Horizon

6. Zelda Wii U
7. Mighty no 9
8. Ratchet & Clank
9. Halo Wars 2
10. Scalebound

Only super hyped for the first 4 currently.

1. Street Fighter V:: I always grew up playing Street Fighter, but with the Street Fighter IV series, I can finally say the meta game 'clicked' and I ended up playing the game religiously and still do nearly 7 years on. So, with a brand new numbered game coming, as you can imagine, I'm pretty stocked. The character roster looks great, the game is a dream to play and I can easily see myself playing it for as long as I've played SFIV. So. Damn. Excited.

2. Final Fantasy XV: So, at one stage Final Fantasy XV probably would have been up top, however, the past year or so has sort of drained me. Like many, I've been looking forward to this game for nigh on a decade now and while I'm happy we've had a demo, I just want the damn game to come out. Having said that, I'm still super excited. First mainline FF game in nearly 6 years? Why Wouldn't I be?

3. The Legend of Zelda Wii U: Weirdly enough, Zelda is probably one of the most consistent franchises for me, despite it not being my favourite (it is one of them though). Super hyped for the Wii U game, though I haven't seen enough concrete stuff for my hype to be through the roof just yet. It usually takes an E3 demo or trailer for that to happen, as has happened with the previous games.

4. Horizon Zero Dawn: Probably the most exciting new IP I've seen revealed this year. The setting, art direction and gameplay all seem right up my alley, and it's got my love of tribal history, mechs and dinosaurs rolled into one. The showing at E3 floored me, and pinned the game straight onto my most anticipated list.

5. Dark Souls III: It's Dark Souls....the 3rd Dark Souls....what more can I say. Little needs to be said as to why this is on the list. It'd be higher if it wasn't for the fact that Bloodborne and Dark Souls 2: SoFS didn't release this year. I feel satiated for now, but I'm excited none the less. Souls games are like gourmet burgers for me. Super indulgent.

6. Persona 5: Relatively speaking I've only got into the Shin Megami Tensei games fairly recently, within the last few years. I'm not as hardcore of a fan as some here on GAF, but after a lot of 3DS atlus releases, I'm starting to understand why it's so loved. I'm currently playing through Devil Survivor 2 Record Breaker, which is slowly making the hype i had for Persona 5 boil over. Looks fantastic.

7. Ni-Oh: Still shocked that this game still exists. Either way, being a fan of feudal Japanese inspired films and games, both of which we don't get enough of these days, I'm really looking forward to this. Add in the fact it's a Souls inspired RPG and there was no way it wasn't going to make my list.

8. Hyper Light Drifter: It's taking it's time, but every time I see more of this game it puts a smile on my face. Seems really fun to play and has the looks to back it up as well. Has been on my radar for a while so hopefully we get to play it soon.

9. Scalebound: It's a Hideki Kamiya game.

10. Uncharted 4: A Thief's End: Love me some Uncharted, and seeing as it's been 4 years since Uncharted 3, I feel like it's about time I stepped into the shoes of Nathan Drake one more time. I've been getting quite fatigued on open world this year, so a good, honest linear action game with all the bells and whistles is just the kind of thing I want to break things up from all of the 40+ hour games I've been playing this year.

1. Uncharted 4 -
ND's last game was TLoU, this has to be at the top of my list.

2. Persona 5 -
Trailer was incredible, I loved Persona 3 the game that really sold me on JRPGs.

3. Gran Turismo -
GT on a new console and with VR support, reminds me I need to save some money.

4. Dark Souls 3
- DS by Miyazaki.

5. Dreams -
Can't believe how good this looks.

6. FFXV -
15th time will be the charm for me I hope.

7. The Last Guardian -

about time.

8. Horizon: Zero Dawn -
this isn't higher on my list because I find it hard to get excited for a open world game that isn't GTA (or as of recent, directed by Kojima or made by CDPR).

9. Nier Automata -
just based on the trailer, looks good.

10. Firewatch -
again, the trailer left a pretty good impression and pushed it about some other games in my radar.

0. HL³ -
Do it Gabe.

I could easily make a top 20 list, 2016 is packed with promising games.

1. Street Fighter V: Been enjoying the hell out of the beta, the gold standard of fighting games.Fight Money and a well plotted DLC release schedule guarantees this will take up the lion's share of my gaming time in 2016.

2. Persona 5: Good things come in fives I guess... 3 and 4 were by far my favorite RPGs (and in my top 5 period) of PS2 games.

3. No Man's Sky: I believe the hype... just seems like an interesting game with a great soundtrack.

4. Killer Instinct Season 3: I loved the game back in the SNES and arcade days... but didn't want a Xbox One, now I get to play it on PC.

5. Tekken 7: I've already got my beer and snacks ready to watch The King of Iron Fist Tournament 2015 in a couple hours... can't wait for them to bring on the expanded console port.

6. The King of Fighters XIV: I know... it's totally butt ugly. Gameplay wise though it's won me over... especially if the 50 character roster turns out to be correct. We get Angel regardless.

7. X-COM 2: Absolutely loved the first game, and I'm really into the direction they're taking the sequel.

8. Overwatch: The announcement trailer literally blew me away and from everything I've seen I want to play this game... great character designs and interesting mechanics. I haven't wanted to player a competitive online shooter this much in a long time.

9-10. VR Games: I'm personally going the Oculus Rift route... so that and the surrounding apps will probably be what I spend the most money on next year. I really do think we're entering a new era of gaming.

1) Persona 5: Persona 4 is one of my favourite games ever. I've been excited about it ever since seeing the engine they're using in Catherine.

2) Street Fighter V: I'm actually going to try and get into fighting games this time. I mean it, I swear!

3) Mirror's Edge Catalyst: The sequel/reboot we wanted but didn't think we'd ever actually get!

4) Zero Escape: Zero Time Dilemma: Having played both of the previous games in the past few months for the first time, my hype for this may just be the afterglow of the previous games, but damn I love the story, gameplay, and themes of the series.

1 - The Tomorrow Children - Loved the alpha and I can't wait to play more!
2 - Uncharted 4 - Well, duh. Uncharted is GOAT.
3 - The Last Guardian - Impossible to express how much I waited to see more of this game. Certainly it will be a gem.
4 - Horizon: Zero Dawn - Not a fan of Guerilla at all but this is something completely different and I liked what I saw.
5 - Gran Turismo Sport - I'm also not a fan of Gran Turismo, but I hope this one has something more to offer that is more my cup of tea.
6 - Ni-oh - It looked amazing and it's been long since we had a game like this.
7 - Doom 4 - I always loved Doom, even the third one, which a lot of people hate.
8 - Gears of War 4 - Gears has always been a good game, so yeah... it's on my list too.
9 - Final Fantasy XV - Haven't played a FF game ever, but this looks amazing and the gameplay was cool too, so I'll give it a try.

1. Persona 5: in 2013 Ni No Kuni rekindled my love for traditional JRPGs and Persona 4 Golden cemented it. I didn't grow out of them, most of the ones I played just sucked. Not P4G tho. It's my GOTY 2013 and one of the best RPGs I have ever played. So obviously the sequel has me hyped. I also like the vibes especially the first real trailer had. The only thing that has me worried is how long the EU localization will take. Of course I can just import it but c'mon Sega, step it up.

2. Dark Souls III: Bloodborne is my GOTG thus far (well, not counting P4G but yeah...) so of course the next game of the director has me in day one. Also playing DS2 right now and having quite a good time with it but I'm excited to see the first current gen Souls game. What little I have heard from previews and seen from trailers has me convinced that this one is another great ride.

3. Gravity Rush 2: The secret best director and father of Silent Hill returns to home consoles. I loved the first game on the Vita and while the trailers don't show any drastic changes I'm quite ok with that. Just a jolly IP that is more than the sum of it's parts. Also has a completely different tone compared to most other superhero games so that's always refreshing. One of those titles that I am happy get a second chance with the sequel, it definately is an IP that could have been buries.

4. Final Fantasy XV: while I haven't really loved an FF game since FFX I get the feeling both SE and the team behind it is really hungry for this title to succeed, it certainly has a lot riding on it. While the ''marketing'' behind this has been a bit awkward I cannot imagine them releasing this game in a bad state. I'm optimistic and having Yoko composing is half the work already done. Even if the game ended up being garbage the music and visuals will be top notch just like in XIII and that did a TON of good on othervise mediocre game.

5. Uncharted 4: I like the UC series quite a bit but I am especially happy with the focus on having a bit more options how to approach a fight in a level and especially the physics. The E3 demo has a ton of small touches that really make the game feel alive (and what I had hoped 1886 would have been considering the physics hype early on). Battlefront kinda ate the graphics lunch from ND but I'm really glad they are using the additional horsepower to improve the old formula in other ways. Also I'm having a decent time with the multiplayer beta. When it comes to the narrative side of the game I think ND has earned my trust.

6. Horizon: Zero Dawn: Guerilla is in an interesting position as a developer for me. While Killzone 2 was easily one of my favourite PS3 games and probably my favourite console shooter behind Halo CE, Killzone 3 on the other hand was kinda mediocre. Not bad by any means but I think it was the very definition of an experimental title for them (co-op campaing, 3D, Move controls, more CoD aping MP). Killzone SF I haven't tried yet and don't really want to with the peoples impressions in mind but this is also the kind of title I have to give a small pass for them for being a launch title with apparently decent multiplayer and especially solid when it comes to the technical side. Now I feel Horizon is the first title since KZ2 that they can truly show their worth. I'm cautiously optimistic since the game looks great, has an interesting premise and I love RPGs but at the same time it's something totally different compared to the other stuff they have done.

7. New Danganronpa V3: Now this one I was on the fence if I should vote for it since it's VERY possible it won't hit the western shores next year but on the other hand the localization for the rest of the series has finally caught up so if it releases relatively early in Japan then maybe we will witness a NIS Christmas miracle ;). However I really dig the Danganronpa games and what I especially love about this one is that it seems to start pretty much from a clean table without the burden of the previous games, exactly what I hoped for.

8. Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth: This is kind of a dark horse for me. I'm not exactly sure what the overall japanese impressions on this are but AFAIK it's not half bad. Now I'm not a huge Digimon fan nowdays but I used to be obsessed with the first season of the anime. And I'm glad to see many familiar Digimon are on the forefront in this title. Also this is one of those games I thought would never be localized so I am more than happy to show my support. More JRPGs for current gen can never be a bad thing.

9. Ratchet & Clank: Crack in Time is easily one of my favourite PS3 games so I'm all in when it comes to the series getting back to it's roots. The visuals are outstanding so on the technical side I have no fears. The only worry I have is that indeed the series has been in a lil depressing spot so I hope Insomniac still got it, especially when it is a movie tie-in of sorts. And final nitpick but it feels like it isn't quite as ambitious as CiT or even ItN when it comes to new ideas but overall I am very optimistic for this one.

10. Zero Time Dilemma: It's great that we get to see this series get a conclusion after all the doom and gloom. While I like the Danganronpa games a bit more at least this will probably get to our shore first. I liked both of the previous games so naturally I'll be there to see what the guy in charge cooks up this time.
