Around 150 nearby homes have been evacuated in the town of Ede while authorities deal with "a hostage situation involving several people," police said on X.

The incident is taking place in a cafe, according to Dutch news agency ANP, which cited a local official.

Police said several units had been sent to the scene, and urged people to "stay away" from the area, adding: "Stay inside and don't come and watch".

I always feel like BFE Europe is basically just outside city limits of any American city. Drive for 5+ HOURS between towns with nothing in between before we start calling places BFE

They thought he maybe had a bomb. Bomb squad was present as well as rooftop snipers.
