And I'll download whatever you want, Sony. I'll even attempt the trophies and buy PS+ for the first time in 5 years. JUST MAKE IT HAPPEN, JIMMMMMMMMMMMMMMAYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!

Exclusive: New data suggests PlayStation PC trophies are in the works
A recent trophy list published on the PlayStation Network and picked up by our scanners contains hints that Sony is testing PlayStation PC trophies.www.truetrophies.com
It is pretty obvious doing for cloud future proof. Sony can use any cloud services rather set their own or custom hardware for the server.Interesting as there’s really no purpose for Trophies - unless they’re doing a store?
Man I still remember people saying that they port games to PC to lure PC players to buy a Playstation console
But now they are doing this to facilitate Playstation fans to migrate to PC instead.
He was joking.Think this is a bad take.
This isn't about shepherding PlayStation fans to PC.
Sony is establishing a multifaceted approach to revenue and they're successfully prioritizing the PS5, even the PS4, over PC. They're making it so that if you buy Spider-Man on PC and really enjoy it, while you can get an additional taste from Miles Morales, you'd actually have to buy a PS5 if you want to get Spider-Man 2 or wait 2+ years.
- Games like Spider-Man 2 aren't going to launch Day 1 on PC
- Even games like God of War Ragnarok (November 2022) and Horizon Forbidden West (February 2022) have yet to launch on PC.
- We're looking at a generally 2-year gap before games are released on PC
- Spider-Man Remastered is 60 dollars on Steam right now (and it's not super low on the Steam best-sellers list)
- We're going to see if it gets a bump when Spider-Man 2 releases
Sony's strategy seems fairly clear. They want their biggest franchises on PC in a manner that positions them to sell well and generate revenue over time. It's clear why they haven't launched TLOU P2 on PC yet. There will be more hype when Season 2 starts and you have people who want to play out the season in game. They've placed their 4 of their 5 best-selling PS4 games onto PC.
- Marvel's Spider-Man (2018 on PS4, on PC)
- God of War (2018 on PS4, 2022 on PC)
- Uncharted 4 (2016 on PS4, 2022 on PC)
- Released to take advantage of the movie (PS5, but came in late on PC releasing in October) (February 2022)
- Horizon Zero Dawn (2017 on PS4, 2020 on PC)
- Last of Part 1 (Released on PS5 in 2022 on PC in 2023) instead of Last of Remastered (2014)
Games missing
- Ghost of Tsushima (2020 on PS4, 2021 on PS5)
- They'll release this in line with the movie
- Horizon Forbidden West (2022 on PS5)
- I think we can expect an early 2024 release on this.
- God of War Ragnarok (2022 on PS5)
- It took 4 years for God of War to make it to PC. Being a heavier hitter, this might not come out next year on PC, it might have to wait longer, maybe in line with the TV show.
- Gran Turismo 7 (2022 on PS5)
- Should have been released on PC for the movie, but it looks like they're sticking to a 2-year post-release plan and they wanted the movie to come out in the summer. We could potentially see the game on PC in the spring of 2024.
- Demon's Souls (2020 on PS5)
- This one is a bit of a headscratcher since in theory Demon's Souls could do very well on PC, it's well outside the 2 year window as well. We're even out of the 2 year window from Sony buying Bluepoint. I think maybe because it was a PS5 exclusive and not on PS4, they're extending the timeline on this one, but Rift Apart was released after Demon's Souls.
And if they follow similar patterns and approach remaking/remastering games like Bloodborne, they would put it on PS5 first. There might even be a 6-month Sony mandate for these titles to appear on PS5 first, which is why the game had to come out on PS5 well before the show launched.
If you look at the timelines on these, nothing comes at the expense of PS5 nor is PC promoted as an outlet for PS5 consumers.
What will be interesting is how far into back catalog Sony goes now that they have a PC strategy. For example, Infamous Second Sons sold pretty well on PS4. Do you remake Infamous 1/2 and see how they do? Maybe with some transmedia. Killzone and Resistance are other franchises they might want to look at how to deal with, and obviously, SOCOM is part of that conversation. You look at games like Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Revolver and you see how they can become so much larger than what they are with the right resources. And these are games that if released on PC and PS5 boost the PS5 community as much as the PC community.
While I agree with what you are saying and you seem to be correct with your assement. The thing is that come PS6 I highly doubt Sony will continue to do this strategy.Think this is a bad take.

As the game development cost rise it would be foolish for then to wait additional years to launch a product on PC. They will lose the major hype in between releases and also a ton of sales. Sony will be forced to release their "exclusives" day 1 on PC if they plan on surviving going forward. They will not be able to afford to release their GaaS titles seperate either as those rely too much on player base and high retention rates and splitting your release for that won't help it.
I'll never understand the hunt for digital badges.
Looks like only a matter of time they day 1 release their Playstation games on PC
I think that's their long-term goal. To get Steam people into the Playstation ecosystem. Dunno if they'll make a launcher or if they just start to require Playstation accounts if you want to play their upcoming GAAS stuff.Sony would make their own launcher?
I think you will manageGreat - more stupid pop-ups I have to ignore or figure out how to turn off.
Think this is a bad take.

Lol, why would they abandon a successful hardware business to sell pc parts? The console is the vehicle to getting consumers in their ecosystem.I can't help but wonder if these "PC" ports and features slowly being worked on from SONY might be released to their future plans and cloud. At some point Sony will be using PC parts and not customized hardware for their cloud gaming. Maybe they are trying to get teams used to PC more and more to help make transitions in 5-10 years be seamless?
When / If they go cloud there is no need for custom designs.
MS ruined Sony’s pc store before it got to be a real thing by having play anywhere. If sony made a pc store then PlayStation users would demand play anywhere. By going with steam Sony doesn’t have to deal with that.Give me a Sony storefront. I’d love to trophy hunt on PC.
because cloud is the future are you denying this? What's the benefit of a custom hardware solutions and R/D cots make zero sense in the future. Customer will not be buying dedicated hardware. Why not get your teams ready for that future now? Im not saying in the next 5 years but it's coming.Lol, why would they abandon a successful hardware business to sell pc parts? The console is the vehicle to getting consumers in their ecosystem.
People buy the console, then buy the game, then buy the online subcription, might buy the dualsense edge and they might buy the psvr2 and ps portal.
PC players buy the game off steam and maybe a dualsense controller. That's it. They're not paying for a subscription, they're not paying for any Sony hardware and playstation only get 30% off each sale.
It's clear to see why it wouldn't make sense for Sony to make pc a priority, but theres no harm in releasing games 2 years later for extra revenue.

Sony is seriously lagging behind Microsoft a lot in this area.MS ruined Sony’s pc store before it got to be a real thing by having play anywhere. If sony made a pc store then PlayStation users would demand play anywhere. By going with steam Sony doesn’t have to deal with that.

Personally I like trophies/achievements (regardless of platform) as a personal record of games I've played. I would be nearly as happy with just a list of how many hours I've played a game that I can order, most systems track this now too which is good.MS/Sony's Achievment and Trophys are nothing but a FOMO apparatus to increase engagement between those that needed Gold Stars to feel Special in school.

Same here. Thats the biggest problem with the Xbox- you can get everything on it elsewhere. Not so with Playstation… yet.I personally would have no reason to play games on console over PC. Microsoft ruined the Xbox for me by putting their games on PC. I sold my Series X real quick because I had no reason to use it.
Play Anywhere is definitely a nice feature to have though.
Drive down costs on steam? What? There are already competitors to steams platform.@Mr.Phoenix still think I'm wrong here?
I think Sony will start to work their exclusivity deals PC exclusivity to their storefront. I think they'll eventually enable VR support for PC via their storefront. They know that by creating their own storefront on PC they can:
So the questions are why would 3rd parties support PlayStation Store on PC?
- Avoid paying Steam royalty fees, which would drastically increase their PC game revenues
- Generate additional royalties from 3rd party supporters
Because it could ultimately drive down costs on Steam to have another competitor there. Maybe even drive down royalties on PS5 games if Sony gives publishers deals for games that appear in both stores.
So why would consumers want PlayStation Store on PC?
Trophies, cross game saves, maybe some level of cross library access, more VR support, particularly AAA VR support, and other benefits along with PS+ subscription service, which I think should still include Crunchyroll.

Like PC gamers are going to download a new store front for a bunch of outdated games they had no interest to play to start with. That's fantasy world.
If people on PC wanted to play playstation games, they would already own a playstation to start with. If they didn't they had no interest to play those games anyway.
Them releasing there games that are not even PC centric, 2 years late, no advertisement, at full price is exactly what is the problem with them.
So yea hiding there games on a storefront nobody knows about on top of that is probably not going to increase your business on said platform.
Sony needs a complete different mindset if they want to be succesful on PC.
Hmm? Isn't 70%?
Thats right. Sony would actually be giving up 30% of revenue share if they were to abandon their own own platform. Its nothing to sneeze at. Thats why its insane to see people think they will make PC a priority. I see it more as Sony trying to get Pc hardcore players into the playstation ecosystem in the most non intrusive way.Hmm? Isn't 70%?
They already exist. They are called steam achievements.
