Even with the negatives pointed out with the leaked info...I'm fine with it and I trust the game will be quite a bit improved in 6 months time.

PD did say it's a lot more modular this time.

The cockpit can move around as long as the camera isn't glued to it

It wouldn't bother me, but I remember people being very annoyed with Shift. I think oe of the problems with trying to simulate movement of the cockpit is that you (the player) are stationary. So it's never the same as if you were actually in the car. It's the same reason why FPS games never really try to fully simulate a characters vision when they're running. It'd be disorienting.

Dude that fucking sucks.

It's the same number as GT5. They aren't adding additional standards to the game.

The premium car count is like 370 or something right? The new premiums in the car list wasn't complete at all.

Shift and Pcars do exaggerate it a bit. But you've got to admit it really adds a ton to immersion. GT is a SIM (well in terms of driving anyways) and I'd like to have an option for that. SHAKE THAT COCKPIT CAM!

Yeah, it's around that number. Possibly more if there are unlockables or cars added through the Day 1 patch.

Like I said, i'm okay with it. But i'm also weird when it comes to immersion in that i'm not against giving up control if it means for more realistic animations. It's why I love Team ICO so much.

They don't say which cars are standard anymore? How will I know which ones to ignore? :/

There's a gallery view option at the dealers that isn't accessible with standard cars. So you'll be able to tell with that.

GT5 had it where the camera shook vigorously when you made turns at high speeds. Even people complained about that and PD removed it in a patch release. =|

I'd use this option if it was actually providing feedback of conditions on the road and not just some shake for the sake of shaking.

I use a controller and there's only so many ways to provide information of the conditions of the car and the road. So while some may find it unrealistic, I'd see it as a technique to communicate forces to the player. Forces they simply cannot feel and cannot be mimicked physically without very high end setups.

As an option I'd definitely use it, as I think Shift's cockpit view techniques were the right approach. It can be subtle blur, shifting of viewpoint at the edges, small stuff can really pay off.

What the hell,I didn't know they patched it later. That effect was legit for extreme speeds, It felt like you were at the edge of the vehicle's tolerances.

Wonder if we'll ever be able to have comprehensive (up to date) category shoot-out races in GT.
Eg.
  • A Class vs (R)S3 vs Focus ST vs GTI (R) vs OPC vs Type R, Megane R...
  • E63 vs M5 vs RS6 vs XFR...
  • C Class (coupe) vs 3 series (4 series/coupe) vs A4 (5) vs ATS vs IS...
  • Polo GTI vs Fiesta ST vs 308 GTI vs Cooper S...
  • etc...
(yes the list is relative since certain cars cross categories)

To me it's something that should be prioritised yet to PD it seems entirely irrelevant. I mean all you need to is model a single 3 series and the variants are basically the same for except for the weight (distribution sometimes) and power figures. Same goes for the rest

I generally prefer the camera acts as if it was interpreting the players own vision when inside the vehicle. Most of the shaky cam nonsense is mostly negated by the brain filtering this out, not to mention shock absorbers and suspension system on the car doing their actual job.

You can pretty much tell who has actually driven a car in real life at a high speed or not by admission in thinking wild vibrations inside the cockpit is considered more "realistic". Sure there is some shaking that occurs, but not the overly exaggerated mess that some games try to bring a sort of "cinematic" experience to it all.

I even address this here - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ou6QGrR4GD4 my comment should be towards the top.

The point of a Sim is to strive for this realism, not exaggeration. Of course this IS a game, so some elements removed from reality should exist.

Yeah, if it provided useful feedback and was optional, I would like to see something like that.

What were people expecting?

Of course GT6 was going to be similar to GT5. Sure, there's a few disappointments and such but there is still plenty to like.

I guess we're going to have to wait for GT7 on PS4 for something different....as expected..

Yep and that's why PD needs to invest more on detailing the track surfaces on the GT7. iRacing did a superb job on this, they've replicated the precise physical features of the track's surface. Now this might seem a lil trivial for some but it builds a good foundation for PD's future developments.

The only difference between the two tiers is if the interior is fully built-out or not

Lol, no. Standard seems to have the same polycount as before, just higher res texture.
Whereas in the Premium cars have a much higher polycount and details accordingly modelled.
Better then nothing though and you won't spot the difference outside of the menu and replays I guess.

What he means is that all upgrades (visual or mechanical) can be applied to standards now. So the only difference aside from the obvious detail difference is that they don't have a full cockpit view.

This makes me want to delete the patches to experience that again.
But damn, having to endure 6 hours of re-downloading & reinstalling over 2 dozen patches to play the game online, ugh.

Gets tiring very quickly though, even wih FF on its lowest setting on (most) wheels the vibration is rather hectic. Like driving a cheap kart on a bumpy track all day long. Good workout for your "driving muscles" on the flip side

You have GOT to be kidding me!

The lounge music yet again outnumbers all other music tracks 5 to 1.

The seems like less than 12 licensed English Rock songs, the rest are Japanese Jazz, lounge, techno rock songs. The music list is pathetic.

At least there is the option for custom soundtracks to fix most of this. So you can fill up a playlist of your own preferred driving music just like in GT5.

Oh, I see. Yeah the split between Standard and Premium really sucked in GT5.

what's the difference between 5 and psp re. cockpit view?

i thought they were the same blackened interiors.

You probably won't be able to answer this for a little while, but tell us how credit earning is going. A person on GTplanet said that he felt that it's very easy to earn credits. Which is a good thing since people are worried about that aspect being gimped in order to force you into buying credits with real money.
