With such a small difference between the DE and the Physical version now you'd be dumb to only take 50 dollars off vs 100, it's negligible and you'd get more choice vs choosing to go one route this time.

A shame the digital is 50 usd more. I like that the disc drive can be used on either machine and its good that you can replace it in case it brakes in the future. Weird that there is no stand included. The disc drive makes the console uglier but who cares. Its nice that they still offer a 500 disc drive bundle, keep caring about physical and the core audience will reward you Sony.

Some stuff to be considered:
- it's been three years, so a price drop was in the mind of everyone... Not anymore, guys. Not really a new console, but it is!
- emerging countries are still problematic in the actual gen, like here in Brazil, and the PS5 costs more than Series X because Sony sucks. Also, chances are that this model will be way expensive in comparison with the old at least in the launch period
- the Series S sells really well here, so the digital should be a thing to consider for some people here since could also be "upgraded". And I can see a lot of those just laying around in the future, kinda like the N64 expansion pack

They have been increasing prices for everything here lately. I’m curious to see how it works out for them. The PS5 is doing good, but I don’t think it’s really hit it’s stride yet.

Waiting for those big switch like numbers. The marketing seems pretty smart. Slightly bigger hard drive, smaller, optional hard drive, but price increase.

Let’s see the software that helps drive this push. I expect Spider-Man to bring some momentum, but what do we have to look forward to after that? The next thing on my radar is in the end of February, FF7 Rebirth.

You are reaching here.. and you know it... or at least I hope you do. This exists because...

1. sony can now (on a current node) fit the PS5 into a smaller chassis. They have made such a revision for every PS console over the last 3 decades.
2. Sony can increase their prices because the demand for their console is still there. Even at this higher price point, they are still tracking on par or better than the PS4. So obviously someone out there wants PS5s?
3. Are you really still linking this to a switch? this is such a dumb argument, anyway, more has gone into this new version of the PS5 than a new colored switch. And it deserves as much fanfare as say Nintendo releasing a new version of the same with, be it a smaller chassis or a different type of screen. I honestly can't wrap my head around why you are trying so hard to manufacture something wrong with what Sony is doing here with the PS5.

And that last question... are you serious? You see why I say you are reaching? What do you mean by who is going to buy a PS5 for $499 with a bigger SSD? The current PS5 ODD version costs $499 and has an 825GB SSD. And is still selling just fine. So what delusion makes you think that a smaller PS5 + ODD + 1TB SSD at the same $499, is suddenly something no one wants? No one has to ask for it, Sony basically gave them the same PS5 at $499 with a bigger drive. If anything, the only negative here is that Sony has technically increased the price of the PS5 digital version... but again, that is something they can only do if the demand for their product can support it. And I can promise you this much, Micrsft would love to have such a problem where they can increase the price of their box and still be selling out.

I have two original PS5. Personally I feel like they cut corners on revisions and the OG models are better, assuming no obvious defects.

My fatPS3 lasted longer, my original PS4 same and never needed new one. Just take them apart and keep them breathing well and they should be good.

This does look great but I'll stick with my originals until a pro comes out.

huh? lots of people wanted it to be smaller.....the OLED switch is also a cash grab, an OLED is nice but its also a waste of money. No, a red switch is NOTHING new. This is new, you have a detachable disk drive and more storage.

Also, $500 is like groceries for a week nowadays, pretty affordable. (sigh)

They should include it yes but they also should include the PS2 stand, the PS2 slim stand, the PS3 stand... but they never did.

Who in the hell would buy a xbox for exclusives ? Halo, Forza, Gears this games arent console sellers, to be honest gamepass is the only thing that keeps Xbox relevante at the moment.

And yeah, ps5 verticaly is a way better looking vídeo game then Xbox is.

The lack of awareness by Sony's design team is kinda worrying, to be honest. They had the oportunity to fix certain functional issues of the previous design (i.e.: the need for a stand), but instead decided to make them worse. Now you need two stands if you want to simply swap positions, and the vertical one is sold separately.

They also could've toned down the crazy aesthetics a little bit while still respecting the original vision, but no, they made it crazier and uglier. It now features even more curves, the pregnancy has been pronounced, and you got a beautiful shiny plastic on top instead of the OG matte finish. Gotta love those scratches.

Can't wait to see the mounstruosity the Pro version will be.
