I'd guess it's just like added M2 drives, in that for lacking the 12 channel command they just had to be brute faster to make up for it. Maybe they got rid of the custom channels with the odd capacity for just going faster?

It's not just gaming nerds on forums. If someone goes to buy a PS5 and they see a Pro version and it is only 150-200 dollars more and they can afford it, they'll drop the extra duckets.

A Pro won't be about a bunch of extra fps though.
It will be about not giving up 60fps unless you want to play at 720p.
It will be about having a decent ray tracing implementation the current consoles just can't handle.
The bunch of nerds is a 10-20m business for Sony, something worth the R&D for the extra SKU which is obviously happening next year.

So basically, you turn it into a different way of saying you want a few more fps or a higher res for current-gen games.

This makes no sense, if you want all that, then just buy the PS5 with ODD bundle that is still priced at the same price the OG ODD PS5 cost. $499.

If you are buying a digital version, not only does that mean you probably dont want to get discs (obviously) there is now at least the option for you to be able to make that a disc using PS5 in the future if you want.

And I don't get people, you have thin sony is running a charity? They can price this shit at what they are pricing it because people are buying them. If they find that sales are not as good as tey anticipate, they would drop the prices.

It's good that the rumors of the attachable drive for the digital model came true. It will make MS think twice about following up with the idea of removing the drive from the Series X revision.

Charging people for the stand is a cheap move though. It should be standard for a console designed to be used primarily in vertical form.

I don't get people really, whats wrong with that? Its a damn stand, and anyone that takes a cursory look at the ODD attachment can see that compared to the OG PS5, it's been flattened out. Obviously to serve as a flat surface to be paced horizontally, which means all that you would need is something that attaches to the upper part now to keep it all level.

Funny thing is, this simpler approach is 100x better than the annoying multipurpose stand that comes with the OG PS5.

Same as the old but now Red!" or puts out a new product that has a new feature that caters to a specific audience, e.g. Switch Lite is for handheld only ppl and Switch OLED offered a much better screen for the technophiles. This new PS5 feels a bit less honest about why it actually exists.

Not crazy about the redesign myself and the kick stand for the horizontal position is hideous. 1 TB should have been available on the launch models as well. One more thing, why in the hell are Sony charging more for the Digital version of a three year old console? Usually hardware revisions three or four years in the generation come with price drops of some sort. Don’t like the cuts in the middle and the gloss top and matte bottom. I will stick with my original disc based PS5. Will be interesting to see hardware tear downs and confirmation on the power use age and thermal temps.

Errr..... this makes no sense to me whatsoever. It's like I am just seeing people fabricate some extreme reasons to hate on this thing.

This new PS5, doesn't need to make a case to be anything. It's exactly a PS5, smaller, and with more storage. The end. It even looks like a PS5.

I had those standing on themselves, never had a problem

With the original PS5 they were forced to put it in the box because of its size/weight
