New Ninja Theory game to be announced this week at TGS.

I don't hate it, but no Western developed created an action game as good as Ninja Gaiden:Black, Bayonetta or DMC3 and most people didn't really enjoyed Heavenly Sword.

It's hard to have a positive reaction to this possibility.

After seing the opening gameplay sequence of Enslaved I will be more inclined to give them more credit than before. But I'll wait for the final release of both games to make my final judgement.
I'm no fun!

What do you guys think about Team Ninja working on DMC5?
Since they did Other M, I'm sure they could collaborate with Capcom since Itagaki isn't there anymore.

I know Itagaki hates DMC so I guess Team Ninja would avoid it out of respect to him?

well Inafune wanted a "western" touch for the franchise for some reasons , Team Ninja will not do this for him or the game.

and I don't think the new Team Ninja ( the old guys left ) even like or respect Itagaki since he trashed NG Sigma.

Following the trend:

DMC1: amazing
DMC2: crap
DMC3: amazing
DMC4: somewhere between amazing and crap

DMC5 should be amazing!
Yep. I was having high hopes for DMC5. Was...............................................

Capcom stated that they were letting external developers work with their MT engine, I don't know if this includes Western developers, but DMC in the UE3 will be awful...30fps will kill this series...
Theoretically 60fps is possible with UE3, just no one has done it on consoles yet or if they did I'm not aware of. It all depends on what visuals they are targeting for.

Team Ninja is certainly better than Ninja Theory but chances of them working on a game for another publisher that is not Tecmo and that game happens to be a competitor to their flagship game (Ninja Gaiden) is absolute zero. keep dreaming.
also Hayashi destroys everything he touches, so no.

Isn't trashing NG:Sigma kinda like trashing his own work? :lol

Who cares, Enslaved looks fantastic.
It looks good, but DMC4 on the PC looks a generation ahead of Enslaved.

The problematic part of sequels is that they are burdened with the responsibility of improving on their predecessors. People would be highly skeptical if NT said they would make a better character action game than DMC4 even if it wasn't in the franchise.

I'm hoping that the rumors are wrong and that it's actually Powerstone 3.

Ninja Theory developing Power Stone 3? That sounds even worse that DMC5.

At least they've done a somewhat similar game before with Kung fu Chaos.

edit:

I guess you could say HS is DMC-esque too, huh?

Its not like we "hate" them, its just they that we hate the fact that western developers are touching very Japanese centric games.

Yes I likes Heavenly Sword and Enslaved looks cool but by no means should Capcom farm out one of their major series with one of the most dedicated fan bases to a B/C level western studio.

Damn, that doesn't leave high hopes for Capcom letting NT use MT.
Well, the idea behind that decision was that the current version of MT Framework isn't exactly ideal for something like Dead Rising, so a custom engine allowed them to put a lot more zombies and variation in the game.

DMC5 on the other hand would make a ton of sense on MT Framework considering that it makes a lot of 60 FPS considerations, but we'll see what they decide.

I would much rather Power Stone be in the hands of some one like CC2 (thus living up to that "Capcom+CyberConnect" thing from Fami last week), than to see a brand I loved in their hands.

I'm already prepped to "mourn" DMC as it is. I could live with that. Losing a "Dreamcast-era classic" like Power Stone, though? That would truly be something else...

Well I loved DMC4 and DMC1...so yay!
Also a western take seems really cool
what the fuck are you talking about? how does having liked dmc1 and 4 make this announcement any less worse?

and what do you expect of a "western take" if i may ask. especially coming from ninja theory

Do people honestly think it could end up being MUCH worse than DMC4? A game where you're forced to master a character for half a game and then you have to start over doing the exact same things with another (far less interesting) character? C'mon.

I'm all for trying a new point of view in a stale series. And after a good amount of hours spent with DeadRising 2, I'm almost convinced that western developers+good jap producer formula can work if played well.

I will wait and see, I do like their ideas in Heavenly Sword design wise, gameplay they have a long way to go. If they can make a story as good as DMC3 and a gameplay that is a combination of DMC3+DMC4, then we will have a winner.

The point of DMC series is freedom, the fact that you can cancel almost every move with another is what makes DMC system awesome. I hope they do it well.

What if it isn't just Ninja Theory developing DMC5, maybe the top people who worked on old DMC games are working alongside Ninja Theory.

Based off of what exactly?

The studio seemingly being fairly decent. Heavenly Sword was good, and Enslaved looks like it could be a massive sleeper hit to me.

I guess I should see how Enslaved actually turns out before I declare their talent; but, like I said, they seem like the type of external studio that could do the franchise justice.

The top people who worked on DMC went on to make Bayonetta actually.

If you mean the people from DMC 2, 3, and 4 however, I'm sure they are officially on the project as that's a large part of Capcom's outsourcing strategy. If that will make that much of a difference however is an interesting question.

Cool, so DMC will lose its wacky japanese identity and will get a new sucky combat engine. I'm glad Capcom continues to remain ignorant.

Can't wait for Lost Planet 3 to become a smash hit when they include more snow level again.

I'm sure this is what Capcom's PR will try to say for damage control.

Honestly, I know it's easy to look at Heavenly Sword and say "there's no way this could be good," but you could have (and many did) make the same argument about a studio who makes baseball games developing the new Dead Rising, and I have not seen a single person argue that Blue Castle failed to nail the feel of the first Dead Rising with either DR2 or Case Zero (perhaps even to a fault).

It's certainly possible this game, if it exists, could be really good, guys.

You guys are all wrong.

It's Onimusha 5 by NT. Dmc rumor were to throw you off. I think NT could handle Onimusha!

I think we're more likely to see Ninja Theory making Resident Evil 6 than for Capcom to make a new Onimusha game.

Team Ninja =! Ninja Theory. One made Kung Fu Chaos and Heavenly Sword and is working on Enslaved. The other made Ninja Gaiden, Dead or Alive, and that Metroid game that probably would've been better if Sakamoto didn't shove his crappy story and atmospheric moments down our throats.

Mediocre developer for a mediocre franchise. Sounds like a good fit.

I'm not even sure about that much. :lol

But furthermore, what would be the purpose of a new Onimusha? Main audience was in Japan, where the games did a lot to benefit from the rising popularity in the Sengoku era. Said games have now been effectively replaced by Sengoku BASARA in the eyes of the Japanese public.

So...where would Onimusha even hope to fit in the world of today?

Well, I realize a lot of people didn't like Metroid: Other M, but I'm not entirely sure what that has to do with Devil May Cry and Ninja Theory. :P
