Therefore, if you would call it silly to ask what is the point of a Series revision based on sales, I assume you would also say the same about Wii U, since the sales rates are very similar right now.
In a lot of ways it is a silly question, regardless of what console/product you are talking about.
Xbox has some idea of how many more of these systems they will produce (they have been relatively accurate at sales prediction even when they anticipate negative results). If the math works for them (the cost of redesigning/retooling production is less than the cost reduction times the number of units to be manufactured), of course they will do that because corporations like to make money and a good way to do that is to spend as little as possible providing the services/products offered. If the numbers would have made sense on the Wii U Nintendo absolutely would have done that.
