Well, its a lot of things with a fancy name.

For us users its the automatic updates and kept progress.

For developers its the ability to package the "new" version with the same game that is released for Xbox One so you only have to download the extra stuff instead of a whole new digital SKU.

So what they already do with PS4 Pro and Xbox One X updates lol

You sir sound like you greatly underestimate the value of a big budget well spent with the time and resources to get it right, along with some very creative design choices, impressive art direction, and an amazing attention to detail. A cross-gen game targeting PS4 and Xbox One in the hands of the right team with the right direction can blow away even a "more proper next-gen" release.

4K version of a PS4 game? That's an oversimplification of what Cyberpunk 2077 looks set to accomplish based on what's been shown thus far. Cyberpunk is easily one of the most ambitious games being released in the last decade. I say that game will have the same impact GTA3 and San Andreas did back when they were released. That impact doesn't necessarily have to come in the form of raw sales numbers, but I suspect it does well there also.
Is not like I couldn't go to YouTube and see a 4K video of Cyberpunk. Not even the best graphics for this generation.

Yea , Plus August edition of official ps magazine doesn't go on sale June 2 but rather in July.

The issue that just came out yesterday (physical copies at newsagents) with the DualSense on the cover is issue #175 and PSErebus says #176 PS5 will be on the cover and issue #175 says the next issue comes out June 2nd (whatever month they designate it). I think the mix-up with the months on the magazine is because there are 13 issues a year?

Nice to know there doesn't seem to be any fee on the developer to take advantage of PS5 hardware on PS4 game patches

Matt from Resetera confirmed that Sony has a system in place much like MS does of letting you put a last-gen disk in and it will download this-gen version.

Basically a continuation / advancement of cross-buy cross-play.
edit: Meant cross-buy

Smart Delivery is about giving you only the files you need, and not everything including the ones you don't. It's very much about preserving disk space on next gen consoles also. So we shall see how this plays out in game file sizes.
Not only that, the idea is that if you have an Xbox One and XSX in your home, not only will you download the right assets for the same game, you will also share your save game. You can quickly switch between consoles to keep playing.

PS4 BC only, pretty much debunked.
You are not responding my question but providing your personal impression about this matter after seeing the Road to PS5 video.

If you have an official source stating that there will not be full BC (PS1,2,3 included) on the PS5, please let me know.

There are a lot of things that Sony did not reveal yet. So no, at this time, the full BC feature is not officially debunked.

EDIT: Let me add that I dont really care about BC (even with PS4 games), but I can see Sony pushing this thing for marketing purposes.

C'mon. This was shown on YouTube. They're obviously demonstrating to the public the XSX's speed. You think they expect average Joe and little Timmy to think "Context is important"? You'd think they'd leave a fineprint on there indicating games ran on XSX unoptimized, so speeds may be faster on final hardware or something along those lines.
Oh my my my. Of course. How could I be so dense?

The fact that you didn't even check the description to see what is there says a lot about how interested you are in the truth.

I'm curious, why are you saying this? What features is it supposed to have to support this claim? We've seen some gameplay, it's a pretty standard RPG/FPS mix. I'd say that Watch Dogs: Legion has more ambitious ideas (I'm not saying they're going to accomplish what they promise, just the premise).

Just like any browser out there which can recognize the client and then can serve you this or that file package, depending on your OS/CPU/whatever config. There's noting new about it, just a fancy name.

You just compared browsers to delivery of a game package download in the multiple gigabytes. It's nothing new or fancy, but games were not doing it at all, so I kinda don't get your point in trying to downplay it now.

And on Cyberpunk that game and its world simulation/city simulation looks fucking incredible. The characters, the different factions, the RPG elements, the art and world design. The attention to detail in so many parts, particularly during gameplay and the environmental interactions. The way they are incorporating technology and upgrades into the game, the way they're handling the hacking mechanic. The story t hey are designing. It all screams game changer the total package. And the gameplay also just plain looks badass for a team that normally doesn't specialize in FPS.

Cyberpunk will lead to many copycats, and that more ambitious first person shooter RPG/open world type game is exactly something this industry needs more of.

lol awfully shortsighted. Game was far from finished and the attention to detail blows away many games this generation. You're busy focused on the wrong thing. There's a reason zelda breath of the wild wrecked far more graphically advanced games, because of its world and the interaction with that world. Cyberpunk is an unbelievable looking game. Can't be downplayed imo. And I'm shocked that so many are in a rush to downtalk this game all of a sudden. Any hardcore gamer can see this thing is gonna be huge.

And just to stress again, the world building and overall package that Cyberpunk 2077 is looking to be is just simply far more exciting than many other games this gen. There's nothing quite like it on the market out there. There are different games that do different parts, but nothing does it like this while bringing together a world in as impressive a fashion as they are in a first person open world RPG while giving serious GTA style vibes in the process.

Makes me think whether publishers will have two different disc versions for crossgen titles after next gen consoles release, considering they will have BC.

This thread has gone about three pages without arguing about memory speeds or configuration, ssd speeds or configuration, ram speeds or configuration.

Is everybody doing okay? Surely somebody wants to step up and start another argument about some piece of technology they're speculating on and then lecture us about how we don't understand the technology they themselves have zero exposure to at this point. Come on, we're better than this. Somebody start a new argument.

Edit. Here, I'll throw out some bait fud. PS5 doesn't have GDDR6!!!! PS5 is RDNA1!!!! Strike that, PS5 is RDNA4!!!!!!! Xbox doesn't have GDDR6!!!! PS5 controllers have a two hour battery life and require six hours to charge to two hours of use!!!!!! Xbox controllers don't have spasm triggers!!!!!! Xbox SSD is basically HDD!!!!!! PS5 SSD isn't even that fast and only helps load times!!!!!!!

That argument is still going on.

When we see the first true next-gen game:

Next gen for me is not simply graphics, its when you go into an area and there is 5-7 enemies, a limit on the CPU and GPU animations etc.

Next gen you CAN have much more enemies and worlds that are not so empty. I bet if Vikings runs on last gem you will have 5 or 6 enemies to fight instead of 50 to 100.

Next gen games have the opportunity to be more epic in scale, but they need to ditch all versions that run on Jaguar for starters.

It is beyond amazing that this can be done on ps4 hardware.
I shudder to think what ps5 will bring

Exactly where I am. What the first party studios got out of hardware around the 7850, a not very expensive part already from 2012, is downright amazing (even if this is Pro footage). What they do on the PS5 will be mind blowing, even if everyone wants to argue over some tflops here or there.

When the games start being shown they'll become the focus.

You feeling okay? To come into a tranquil thread like this, one of the few on the net completely free of misinformation, trolling or general gaslighting, only to spread such toxicity. I can't, I just can't...

For the most part that isn't what has been done here. We have been quite cordially comparing and contrasting what Mark Cerny talked about with PS5 and what Microsoft have shared via DF etc.

What does happen too often is like what we saw with Dee_Batch and RGT on Twitter. That sort of erroneous overreaction ruins genuine discussion.

I have been spending way too much time playing DQB2 during this Covid 19 shut-in, haven't kept up what's the latest?

Are pre-orders still on for this summer?

I said 'browser' because pretty much all storefronts we have right now are browser-based. This also applies to consoles. So how does the server know which package to send you? It queries for user-agent and it serves you a correct file. This happens on PS3/PS4 and also on Xbox/PC with the Xbox storefront. It also happens in Google Play Store (there are more than two versions because there are many hardware combinations) and so on. So it's been a standard procedure for a long time, for games and other downloadable software. It's a simple script within the webpage, that's it. How much data you download has nothing to do with it.

As for Cyberpunk, I heard a few things about problems during development. I hope they used that extra time to sort things out. Of course I'd like them to succeed, not only because I know some people involved in the making but also because I prefer futuristic settings to fantasy ones. But I'm not too much hyped after watching the gameplay. Well, we'll see.

The "disclaimer" that you are pointing out is referring to the unoptimazation of the GAMEPLAY for the Series X.

Please read it again:

"Demo uses backward compatible Xbox title to demonstrate load time technology and does not represent GAMEPLAY optimized for Xbox Series X"

TLZ TLZ is talking about "fineprint on there indicating games ran on XSX unoptimized, so speeds may be faster on final hardware"

The truth is that this 11 sec of loading time is the best that Microsoft could archive to "demonstrate their load time technology".

It is not that bad :messenger_grinning_sweat:

Graphically that looks nice until he starts running, the whole thing looks off because of how slow he's going and the animation in general.
It looks great, but there is nothing happening...Let's see how it holds up to HZD2. I'm sure Guerrilla could do the same or better on PS5 with a single character displayed and a desolate environment.
