Known best for the development of Batman: Arkham Origins and Gotham Knights, WB Games Montreal has delivered a mixed bag of results so far. Following its last release, the team is already deep into development on its next title.

Now, Tech4Gamers has come across a new job listing for an Executive Producer that reveals key details about the project, including the fact that it is based on a DC Comics IP and utilizes a live-service model.

WB Games Montreal is currently looking to hire an Executive Producer for an unknown AAA Game. The job listing confirms that this game is based on an iconic Warner Bros. and DC Comics property.
The same job listing later states that this project will belong to the live-service genre since the producer is responsible for overseeing the live service strategy for post-launch support.

When it comes to all the bombs the past few years in gaming or TV/movies, they all made a huge mistake trying to catch onto the DEI/BLM/GAAS train from 2020 thinking their product launching years later would still be hugged and kissed for promoting politics, and cashing in on mtx thinking every game can be Fortnite.

Stupid business strategy, but whats done is done and they couldnt turn the ship 180 to change the final product. They were all strike outs. Lesson learned.

You'd think at their next at-bat, they'd learn from their mistakes and NOT do it again. But as history proves and batters still striking out chasing bad pitches, it's actually no surprise when people make the same mistakes over and over again.

It's like a guy in school who gets bad grades. You'd think he'd change it up, study harder and try to get better grades. But nope. Guy just keeps doing what he's doing and consistently flunking.

Is it possible they just fucked up and reposted the text from an old req just to get it out there? They can't be so stupid as to follow up a gigantic failure with another attempt at the same thing.

i feel like gotham knights is the most forgotten AAA game of all time

I think that Crystal Dynamics Avengers game gives it a good run for its money.

edit: While my answer remains the same, I thought your post read Suicide Squad, lol.

Gotham Knights is such a better game by comparison.

Gotham Knights has a pretty good story. The gameplay is -ok- and (like most games like these) is a lot more fun with friends.

If you play the entire game as Barbara, it's practically like playing a new Arkham game. Her game play mechanics are just about 1 : 1 lifted from Batman's.

Honest question:

Is there ANY hope for this? Maybe the real problem was the Suicide Squad, which is probably the biggest IP in the world that absolutely no one cares about.

I mean, if they had a legit Justice League game with online components. Could it work?

Maybe?

Warner is one of the most stupid and incompetent companies out there, they always make the worst decisions, both in their movies and gaming divisions.

The live service parts of suicide squad were really bad, they definitely had a long term plan in place, but they completely shit the bed on executing it; they should've pivoted really hard on their plan and they could've salvaged it, instead they dug their heels in and eventually had to abandon those plans because of terrible reception and terrible player retention, for those that stuck with it, so they cobbled a horrible ending together and dropped all support for it not even a year later.

If they can manage to provide a satisfying gameplay loop with regular strong update, a DC (justice league or whatever) live service game could definitely work, but WB seems to be deadset on getting something that gives them a (life)long term live service payout, but without actually making the effort of putting the proper support in play; every one of these games that is successful is driven by strong updates, but WB doesn't seem to understand that, or more likely they do, but they don't want to spend the money because it means lower, short term, payouts for their execs 🤷‍♂️

The most successful games are live-service, they would be stupid if they ignored that.
They have failed spectacularly at making live-service tiltes, though.

Suicide Squad? Bomb.

Multiversus? Shut down. TWICE.

Mortal Kombat 1? Done early.

They need to release some solid single-player games before trying thier hand at another live service title.

I was told all this companys make good smart decisions based on solid data.

So for sure this will be successful just like their previous gaas game

If I was forced to play one of three games and the choices were suicide squad, Gotham knights, and Avengers, I'm picking Gotham knights.

It may not be good. But it's at least not complete crap.

Depending on whether SS bombed due to hatred or apathy, Justice League: Kill the Suicide Squad could do okay for them.
