NFL Off-Season Thread 5 - Everybody Do The Flop

That twenty minute recharge time for the golden gun is such a punch in the dick, especially when you activate and die two seconds later before you can fire a single shot.

Its "not HALO"

Seriously there is a HUGE HALO influence in this game. Like if Call of Duty/HALO/PSO had a three way and this is the offspring

I liked the bit where 343 Guilty Spark tells you to hold on a second while he opens up a door, then the flood appear.

I needed Sgt Johnson to show up. He would fuck these glowing balls all up! HOORAH!

Wait....what is your gamertag?

Destiny is pretty fun, it's no Halo though

No, certainly not in the competitive PvP aspect of it.

But the gameplay is certainly based on it
down to the dudes in cloak who look and sound almost exactly like the Elites from Halo
as is art from the amazing menu screen music to the futuristic sci fi artistic setting/storyline.

But it is a team focused FPS with a PSO vibe. Halo is still the best competitive PvP console FPS, but the co-op is a different beast.

You can't go wrong either way, and I can't wait to see where the Destiny lore goes or if there is even a decent Destiny lore to begin with.

Bumcrease. I was playing with you and minx at the end, when the brutes showed up. My brother was playing with us in the earlier rounds.

lol was wondering why some random Brits invited me to their game.

You know in the main game their will be a Master Chief helmet available in this game. Just has to be.

Kas, this is co-op HALO for the Sony group. Ill bet money somewhere down the line there will be more than one of those giant, white balls that mysteriously show up.
and then release not-Flood on everyone!

I want to unlock a Nathan Fillion voice :(

Haven't tried the PvP mode yet but the co-op stuff feels like Borderlands which isn't really my cup of tea. It's really well made as you'd expect from Bungie but the release schedule from September onwards is so stacked I'm not sure I'd have time to play it.

The most fun I have had with Destiny is solo on hard. The co-op mode didn't really do it for me because people just rush through which isn't fun to me and the challenge isn't there. Solo will kick your ass though.

PVP is fun as hell though and I like that you unlock shit for the campaign.

Co-op is great if you're playing with people you know, otherwise is people just bum rushing everything.

"The only way to get tickets to our night practice is the linked ticketmaster page below!"

*goes to page, clicks date, picks single ticket option, waits for page to load, "Oh, sorry, we don't actually sell those tickets here."*

Thanks, Bills, way to make things needlessly complicated when I'm trying to give you money.

tiny pic is banned apparently

Yeah, rather than deleting images and never reusing the associated URLs, it actually recycled them. Ended up with some users having porn images posted without ever realizing their original posts had the image replaced by tinypic. It did make the simpsons visual charisma thread amusing at one point when people would be talking about their favorite Simpsons bit and the related image was long gone, replaced by someone's selfie.

MRSA, how is your morning going? Any thoughts on the Bucs or Raiders going into this training camp?

Hello kas my dear friend,

My morning is coming along just fine, just tired of sitting down for 12 hours. The girl I'm covering for is back from her honeymoon is back tonight so I'll be back on the floor.

Bucs suck and the Raiders are still weak on depth. DJ Hayden having a fucked up foot/ankle is not helping them what so ever.

We'd have a great time playing wienke, I'd be dropping stats and dissing the Packers the whole time we play.

Boom headshot suck a D packers you BARELY won the worst division in pro football even though your qb missed half the season! Losers!

:jnc

We would have too much fun on PS4 kas. I'm sure everyone else would get a kick out of it too.

I think you're underestimating Destiny a bit competitively. There are way more customization options in Destiny so once you combine people who like to min/max their gear and stats with the FPS crowd, it's going to blow everything else out of the water. It's also going to have a much bigger following simply because it's on both systems.

Plus people are going to get really good at it while grinding factions, marks, glimmer, bounties, etc. Theres so much more incentive to keep playing because this takes your Halo and COD ranks to the next logical step and then some.

I promise you that Destiny will be a gaming phenomenon and that EA, Activision and Microsoft are very worried right now because their shooters look a whole lot shittier now.

After playing the Destiny alpha and beta I can honestly say I don't find the competitive MP to be anything special. It's a solid mode that borrows heavily from quite a few other shooters but I don't think the final package surpasses some of the best. I'd take Battlefield 4 or even Killzone: SF over it, if we're just talking PS4.

I'm super excited for Destiny, the co-op stuff is going to be a blast, but I don't see this game making a huge splash from a competitive MP standpoint. I have no doubt that Destiny will be the next big thing but I'm not convinced it will be because of the competitive MP.

Of course, the sample size of content has been small so far so my opinion could change with the final release.

You get a chance to play the Iron Banner mode? The 'new' maps (the Earth map is from the Alpha) make things a lot better. Also having your equipment count is better (and gives me a better shot of actually killing peeps).

I also think fully upgraded characters are going to be crazy, some of the sub classes have some crazy shit that's either going to break the multiplayer or make it really engaging. There are cloaking upgrades for snipers where if you have your scope out your cloaked or some shit (which seems like it could be broken).

While Bungie owns the Destiny IP, Activision retains the right to be the exclusive publisher of all the games. So I think Activision has seen the writing on the wall with the sales decline of CoD.

I don't think I did, but that sounds pretty awful to me. Shooters are all about balance in my opinion, I really don't want to get into a competitive mode that rewards the kid who has ten times more free time than me. I don't mind some unlocks if they try to keep the weapons somewhat balanced but just making it a free for all like that sounds terrible.

The competitive multiplayer aspect seems kind of garbo to me. Especially compared to how fantastic the co-op is. Not sure why I'd ever choose to play competitive, but then I never PvP in mmo's either.

Really excited to see how much content is in the game at launch. Hopefully enough areas to not get stale, and god I hope the "New Russia" isn't where you start the game. I don't want to spend another ten hours there right away. But I'm sure it is...

That's why it's a specialized mode :p.

It seems like there is also a horde mode going off of one of the descriptions of the locked MP categories.

Mostly just an added layer of polish. Like menus are a bit more fleshed out, some cinematics are in there, voice work has post processing, etc.

Bread and mech can attest to the fact that even if you play with people you know, it won't stop me rushing everything anyway.

Now wade into the midst of this horde of enemies that is five levels higher than I am please, I need to be revived.

ah so no real changes to the gameplay? I felt like the guns generally felt too weak. Does Mr. Dinklage do a better job this time around? The alpha voicework was weaksauce. I guess my final question is: are load times faster now too?
They added Xbox versions. :)

thats cool and im aware of that and all but the alpha did exist

Crucible does nothing for me either and I'm similar in that I'm not a PVP type player. In MMO's or shooters in general. It's not why I'm buying the game.

The coop is brilliant and echoes the type of long nights I used to spend with friends in Phantasy Star Online on the Dreamcast. It has enough of that games DNA to keep me really hyped for the games official release along with being a strong shooter in its own right.

I'll second the thoughts on Russia, too. I hope we get to maintain progress from the beta to launch (doubtful, I know).

Load times are still a bit long for my taste. Hope they improve on the final build.

Dinklage is fine. They added a robot filter (post processing Ez mentioned) to the voice work which made a substantial difference.

I thought the guns felt fine depending on what you're using. Some of the laser type weapons or smaller rifles don't feel great but shotguns, sniper rifles, etc. all felt "weighty" to me.

I didn't play the alpha so it may have improved but the Dinklage dialogue is still terrible. Sometimes he tries to do the emotionless robot voice, other times he tries to emote but he just can't be bothered to do a decent job.
