NFL Offseason Thread 2015 |OT| All of our teams suck!

RIP Mama Blank and I never want to take advantage of another man losing his mother...but I'm really glad Rec Ryan isn't in the division.

The Bills are an interesting destination though. Tough D,no QB. It's like he got rehired by the Jets.

Wow Rex. Back on a team with no QB. He must enjoy falling short of beating Belichick and Brady every season

I think Roman will be a good fit for him. It's going to be interesting to see how he does without Harbs. I think there's likely some truth to the "too many cooks in the kitchen" reports about the Niners offense this year. Give him autonomy and I think he'll do well.

Rex didn't leave the state and goes to a good situation. The Bills punted their future for 9 wins. The jury is still out on EJ based on the fact that team benched him in favor of a veteran. A veteran QB is supposed to perform better in that situation than a young QB currently developing in the NFL. I'm not saying EJ's a pro bowler but he warrants at least another look due to the nature in which this season went. Another look means at least a consideration for a roster spot as a QB.

The Falcons were a better fit and don't have perennial super bowl contender New England on their schedule. Dimitroff is a better GM than anyone the Bills hire based solely off his record. However, I understand Buffalo's defense is more appealing. All NFL fans win because Rex Ryan is on the sidelines talking his shit.

Ravens lost because our defense couldn't stop a nose bleed. Used to be a time when a Ravens team got up by 14 that game was OVER. :(

That was when you had 2 first-ballot HOF'ers. Two men that are arguably in the top 3 to ever play their respective decisions. It's always intrigued me, how the organization would rebound from their departures and how the fan base would adapt.

Bears reportedly gonna make a big push for Kubiak.

The AFC North's best year is going to end with 3 teams making the playoffs, all of them bouncing out as soon as they possibly could, Browns in a complete clusterfuck, Bengals in complete despair, Steelers losing Dick and Ben getting hurt again, and Playoff Flacco dead Pees still intact and Kubiak gone. Fuck.

Kave, is it too late to join the shame circle

Im telling you his basic ass ZBS offense is perfect for Kap.

Of course you are signing Schaub as the gritty, old vet back up. But whatever,

One can never have enough Schaub in their life, so I suppose that's a good thing

I wanted to post a few words about Dick LeBeau. He was ousted from the Steelers yesterday. The man is a hall of fame player and coach. He invented the zone blitz and lead a defense that was all world for many, many years. While I think he was hamstrung by some of the personnel that he had the last few years, the Steelers defensive failings are at least partially his fault. Couple that with the fact he is 77 and most of the stalwarts of his incredible defense are gone or are going now, I'm ok with getting a new dc in Pittsburgh. Let a new guy mold the young talent as he sees fit. LeBeau never felt comfortable playing young, inexperienced guys, but that's what needs to happen now.

As for who takes over, LB coach Keith Butler has long been the dc in waiting. That would be the smoothest transition, as he's already familiar with the scheme and personnel. I also wouldn't be surprised if the Steelers brought in someone new to mix things up. If Butler is too close to LeBeau, then it wouldn't represent much of a change.

As suspected, there are conflicting reports on Lebeau leaving. Ian Rapaport (yeah I know) is implying that the Steelers were surprised by it. Pushing the angle that Lebeau wanted to go out with his kids, Taylor and Polamalu. We'll see in the coming days I guess.

Either way I have to say i'm a little upset. I knew the day had to come but it's still surprising to me. No DC has been as consistently dominant for as long as Lebeau. All good things must end though.

Why does any team want DelRio? What did he do that was so impressive in Jacksonville?

A few playoff appearences, which is more than Oakland can claim in a long time. I was actually reading an article with a poll that was showing more than 75% of raider fans wanted Del Rio.

The Raiders have a QB and a few good, young pieces and a shit ton of cap space. There has to be a pretty big demand for that job and you hire Jack DelRio?

I'm a huge Rex Ryan fan, I know his shortcomings, he has a bunch of them but I like him a lot.

Shit. We play the Bills next year and I don't want to face that defense with Ryan running it.

I still feel he is just like his dad though. Great DC but always an underperforming HC

Rookie WR Kelvin Benjamin was very critical of his 1st season. "I feel like I had a bad season." Says a lot about who he expects to become.

Quick coaching search update: At this point, #Falcons appear to narrow their search to Todd Bowles and Dan Quinn. D is the focus.

I didn't want Rex Ryan but I have to admit it's the most respectable head coaching hire the team has made in I don't know how long. I'll miss Schwartz, though.

69-72 and a couple trips to the playoffs with a shit roster and gm.

Gata's team is like 9-39 since he left.

I think he's a great defensive, players coach. And he has connections, could get Mike Smith to be his DC.

If he's hired I think we'll do well under him.

Congrats to the Bills for hiring Rex. Scary defense incoming.

edit: nevermind just saw they're hiring Roman as OC.

The fact that KB had probaboy the greatest season by a Panthers wide receiver not named Steve Smith ever and is still humble is encouraging.

He could easily say "Fuck you, check my stats bro" like the wideout version of Stafford, but he's still working to get better.

As to how he can get better, the drops are the obvious and that's a concentration issue. I also think he could work to refine his route running a bit more. There were a lot of times this year where Cam clearly wanted to get him the ball and couldn't because KB couldn't get open. He's never going to be a burner who can just run himself open with blazing speed. He's got to get better and more precise with his routes.

The last thing is just a mental thing where he's got to learn to play against physicality and he's got to learn to finish the play. You can't just end the play if you didn't get the ball at the end of your route. Especially with a scrambling QB who's going to look to extend plays.

He can build a Defense!...when he was at Jax, there defense were always top 6 ....we just need good offensive mind guru for the OC position to groom Carr ...plus he a local boy and him growing up a Raider fan help

Anyone see this?
Bleacher Report's Jason Cole reports there's a "pretty good chance" coach John Fox gets fired if the Broncos lose to the Colts on Sunday.
FOX Sports' Jay Glazer had a similar "report" earlier in the morning, but it was extremely flimsy. Per Glazer, "there's a thought if (the Broncos) lose today, could Fox become available? If he is, he shoots to the top of lists." Despite winning the AFC West in each of his four seasons as Denver's coach, Fox has been unable to deliver a championship. The Broncos lost in the Divisional Round in each of 2011 and 2012 before getting destroyed by the Seahawks in the Super Bowl last year. Fox would still be in high demand if he hit the open market.
