In other news, I'm convinced Sepulveda's on roids.

So I put on CNN and the first thing they're talking about...

Patriots Destroy Jets 45-3
Brady throws 4 touchdowns

Really? Since when does CNN talk about individual football games? :lol
It was the most important regular season game in years.

They have a sports section on their website but it takes you to Sports Illustrated stories. They probably featured this story because it was like a regional super bowl or something.

Tom Brady is more important than the economy

eh, media wise, maybe. As big as Favre's return to Lambeau maybe? Not often you get two division rivals facing this late in the season for not just first place in the division but first overall. The two coaches involved is probably the big draw for non-sports media coverage though.

The Sunday night game was every bit as big as last night, and it was a great football game to boot. Rex Ryan is a chump, Sanchize is a chump, the Jets are chumps. Enjoy 2008 all over again, New York!

I had to work last night, so I was bummed when I couldn't see the Pats. Its rare I get to unless its a Monday or Sunday night game since I live out here in New Mexico. I get Cowboys games 95% of the time. I was even sadder to miss out on seeing a good win like this. I usually catch the wins when I suffer heart attacks. =x

All I have to say is...

*fist pump*

That's about it. Don't want to see the Jets in the playoffs though.

I'll go back to quietly lurking the thread now.

I disagree with this statement. I would love to see the Jets in the playoffs if the Pats have home field. I don't think Sanchez is accurate enough to win games in shitty weather, and the Pats offense creates a ton of match up problems for the Jets.

This is exactly why I hate working Sundays :(

I'm one of those quietly paranoid Boston fans. I don't want to see them again because maybe the score was one touchdown too many where the Jets can brush the loss off as a fluke and forget about it that much easier. Stupid shit like that. =P

It like "Cool, we beat them. Now let us never see them again. kthx."

I feel sorry for Buffalo and Miami. I doubt they will get any let up by the Jets or the Pats since the other teams on those two's schedules are pretty tough teams. How did Chicago get to play both the Pats and Jets this late? Some real good luck there.

The Jets have the capability to beat you. but they have to commit to running.

They just happen to play the AFC East this year.

Oh man I missed some Boston has shitty fan discussions, looks like sanjuro held it down pretty well though. I'm not going to lie, a shit load of Pats fans (friends from high school) are terrible, terrible fans. This is mostly the new generation of fans though, most people under 20 (I use that age because I'd like to think I'm a good fan at least in comparison to the rest) are damn spoiled, and reading facebook after a big win/loss is tough. IMO the Pats have the worst fans of all the Boston sports, but there are still a lot of good fans out there, you just have to look past the Lunchboxes.

fuck that. we already saw them get easy superbowl runs. i want this 4th one to be a statement to rest of the nation, just like how this season has been. steelers, manning, jets got spanked, now i want ravens (redeem last years game and since this seasons win wasnt convincing enough) and the colts (to bury pepe's legacy one last time). and then blow out falcons on the superbowl to create history

no defense, no super star receivers and they've slapped everyone this year. nothing to fear, this years a revenge tour. and since there will be no football next year, the statement will stay on for 2 years

Basically when you sign a cornerstone to the Packers horrible, horrible special teams from last year (hell we're not doing a whole lot better this year), you're going to get burned.

Unless he can somehow start kicking farther than 30 yards automatically, which would be our luck.

edit: About time with Haynesworth. Seriously though, he should have been traded or cut during the offseason since he clearly wasn't fitting in whatsoever. Really what was the point of putting up with him all year just to bench him for the last 4 games? I also wonder if Haynesworth encouraged being benched, lord knows he hasn't been putting 100% effort most of the time anyway. Might as well avoid serious injury so you can make sure you're healthy enough to sit on the trade block or in the free agent market.

In 2004 the Patriots beat the following teams in the playoffs: 12-4 Colts, 15-1 Steelers, 13-3 Eagles. That was impressive. Not sure how you ignore losing to the Browns by 20 but perhaps that speaks for itself.

Your joke character bullshit aside, I agree that this has been the most impressive season for the Patriots and Brady.

It was one of biggest games this season. If the jest didn't stink it up certainly one of the highest rated games this year. But important for the AFC East. We haven't had a game like this in a while.

While it's certainly always possible, I dare say that we have a much better and consistent offense than the Jets do.

More info on the Haynesworth suspension:

Mike Shanahan: "Despite the club's numerous attempts to persuade Albert Haynesworth to abide by the terms of his contract, he has repeatedly refused to cooperate with our coaching staff in a variety of ways over an extended period of time.

According to the various writers who follow the team, once again Haynesworth refused to play in the base 3-4 or 1st and 2nd down Nickel packages. According to the teams press release on the matter, Haynesworth told Bruce Allen on Monday that he'd no longer speak with Shanahan, according to the team's news release.

Fun times in Washington.

Monday night, December 27th, will be also a very big game. Atlanta versus New Orleans. I wouldn't mind the Falcons winning 47-3 but I have a strange feeling it will be a little closer than that.

Alex Smith is back for the 49ers when they host Seattle on Sunday. Should be interesting.

Please football Gods, ignore this man. I will take an easy Superbowl win any year, any season. The franchise, in the past decade, really doesn't have to "prove" anything.

Also, none of our Superbowl wins were "easy." =x

None of those games have similar theatrics. Rex Ryan built this game up like mad and in the end was him crying during his press conference.

Atlanta and New Orleans are more low key teams.

the 04 team was loaded with talent, especially the defense. no one cared about the steelers before 05, manning still didnt get his fluke superbowl ring and eagles were eagles. This years team was counted out by everyone even before the season started and after Moss left everyone crowned the jets as the new dynasty. thats why this seasons rejuvenation is extra special.

no one will remember the browns if they can go to the superbowl and demolish the only other legit team in the league (lead by BC's own matt ryan)

That makes it so much more delicious when they fail.

I am going to be a father soon and I don't want to imagine my kids being born into a world where Tom Brady has 4 Superbowl rings. I might have to quit the NFL if that happens and turn my kids on to schoolwork or soccer or some other inferior hobby. :(

The full Shannahan quote:

"Despite the club's numerous attempts to persuade Albert Haynesworth to abide by the terms of his contract, he has repeatedly refused to cooperate with our coaching staff in a variety of ways over an extended period of time. Among other things, he has consistently indicated to our defensive coaches that he refuses to play in our base defense or on first-down or second-down nickel situations. He has also refused to follow the instructions of our coaches both during weekly practices and during actual games as well.

"Yesterday, when Albert was at Redskin Park, he told our General Manager Bruce Allen that he [Haynesworth] would no longer speak with me. Although suspending any player is not a decision that a head coach enters into lightly, I believe the situation has reached the point where the club clearly has no alternative."

I have to rewatch the Giants game again but I believe they ran a good bit of 1st and 2nd down nickel against us this past Sunday which was interesting...

ESPN/ABC will be hyping this game like crazy during Christmas week.

ATL/NO (week 16), PHI/NYG (week 15), CHI/GB (week 17) are some key games coming up for the NFC

to a lesser extent, STL/SEA (week 17) could also be playoff determinate

Some key games next week:
The biggest division match-up next week is probably KC@SD.
Green Bay has a "must win" at Detroit to have a strong case for the NFC North.
Colts have a "must win" against the Titans to stay alive in the AFC South (on Thursday).
Giants have a big game at Minnesota they need to win to stay competitive against the Packers/Bears for the NFC wildcard.
Bears of course have a tough game against the Patriots coming off a huge beatdown.
Bucs have to beat the Redskins to stay competitive for the NFC wildcard.
The Saints/Rams game could be a playoff preview.

I'm aware of this. What's your point?

That it's pretty silly to say no one's gonna give a shit about the defending Super Bowl champs against one of the hottest teams in the league to end the season. I realize your in the Pats ass but come on.
