Haynesworth had stability and a defined role in Tennessee, yet he bails for piles of cash. I'm sure the Titans made him a very good offer, but he wanted more. Now he'll go down as a greedy malcontent bitch. Never ruin a good thing.

That it's pretty silly to say no one's gonna give a shit about the defending Super Bowl champs against one of the hottest teams in the league to end the season. I realize your in the Pats ass but come on.
When did I say anything remotely close to this? You are just making stuff up as you go along. I'm pretty sure Brees isn't going to come out and call Ryan a chump or anything. Both organizations are pretty quiet and stick to focusing on the game.

That makes it so much more delicious when they fail.

I am going to be a father soon and I don't want to imagine my kids being born into a world where Tom Brady has 4 Superbowl rings. I might have to quit the NFL if that happens and turn my kids on to schoolwork or soccer or some other inferior hobby. :(

if roflsburger gets to 4 rings before brady, ill name my first born ben (benny if its a girl). if brady gets to 4 rings first you name your kid thomas edward brady jr. the second. deal?

Nobody said you did hombre. You don't need a loudmouth coach propping up a game with rhetoric for it to be an anticipated matchup. the Saints are defending champs, the Falcons are the hottest team in the NFC.

Word. Tell me the 08 Superbowl wasn't the most satisfying non-your team Championship game you have ever seen

Half of the league has a better and more consistent offense than the Jets.
Only half?

YOU JUST DID! Stop trying to scare me with your crazy Mexican lingo. I don't think you understand how this media thing works.

You have two of the largest NFL markets in the Pats/Jest. The first game was one of the highest rated games this season for a national audience. There is much more at stake in this game and the intangibles of the Rex Ryan nonsense.

The Falcons are a great story, but they aren't a flashy team in any way, shape, or form. Saints aren't the same team as last season and don't have the same following. Neither team comes from a top market. There are no stories being grabbed from the headlines to national attention.

It's common sense.

EDIT: Now in any of this, am I saying the game is going to bomb? No. It just isn't as captivating of a game to the general NFL audience.

BZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ

You're straying into retard-Boston fan mode. Look at their games this year. That's fucking EXCITEMENT.

I've been watching them, I like Matt Ryan. I just don't find them flashy as say a Peyton Manning or a Michael Vick type story or game would get. They are quietly executing nicely and not turning the ball over and making mistakes. Reminds me of the Pats way of things to a degree.

Maybe not their style but the games themselves are always great. Partly because of the suspect defense combined with the excellent offense means when they play good teams it'll generally come down to the end. That's flash, holmes.

I wouldn't with that upon my worst enemy. No one deserves to come into this world with that handicap.

For that reason (and Peyton's comeback) I will always love the Manning family. 2001 was a low point in American history for 2 obvious (unrelated?) reasons and 2008 was likewise one of the best years in American history.

Of course, but he called us specifically out. The Bills have a better offense than the Jets at this point. Jets have all the talent in the world but they can't execute a game plan for shit.

I've enjoyed all of our games this year, besides the Philly game, but I think might die at an early age from a heart attack.

I agree. I'm talking about the general audience of NFL fans. Much of that audience are nitwits or fantasy footballers at this point. If we were talking about the general audience say several years ago, you would be correct. The numbers are just so dominant and skewed.

he's talking about the media not how good or bad the team is. Atalanta and fucking new orleans arent on the same level as Newyork/jersey and New england. jets/pats is more sexy on a headline than falcons/saints

half the people in atlanta dont even know they have a football team and the other half dont have tvs

How the fuck is that talking out of my ass?! Look at the TV ratings just posted!!!

The last few years have fucking skyrocketed in comparison to even a few years ago. NFL is serious business.

EDIT: Another analogy would be the gaming industry. While always popular, with the casual fans who buy only say Madden, or guitar/music games, dance games, it messes with the the total numbers. I don't want to pinpoint it exactly on Fantasy Football, but it is a major factor here.

I'd wager that Sunday Night Football has better ratings than Monday Night Football at this point.

I'm sure I'm being captain obvious but I'm sure a lot of it has to do with SNF being a vastly superior product at this point.

Really I would like for them to move MNF back to ABC and dump the entire announcing crew. I loved MNF back in the 90s :(

edit: Doesn't Georgia suffer the same syndrome as most southern states in that college sports > professional sports for most of the people living there?

That wouldn't change anything besides people without cable being able to see it. ESPN/ABC are both Disney owned.

Yeah, according to some of the Bravos fans in the other thread it's very much like that.

MNF going back to ABC means nothing. ESPN/ABC are practically the same thing. They are both partners.

whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat? You're all over the place man. You're honestly telling me the defending champs won't draw against the Falcons, a division rivalry with the hottest team in the league?

Also, the Jets are in the bottom half of fanbases in the NFL. They're not the Giants. Only bandwagoners who don't attend stadiums give a shit about 'em. ;)

I think what he means by "go back to ABC" is "fire Jaws/Tirico/Gruden."

What's dandy Don Meredith up to these days anyway?
too soon?

That whole broadcast TV, thing.

Well, it's a combination of that and the boom in the 90s resulting in a ton of transplants moving down there. Huge Redskin contingent down in Atlanta. I think we have the second largest population of Ohio State fans in the country, which is somewhat hilarious considering the last few years.

The Falcons have always had a good contingent of die hard fans, though, even when the Smiths owned them. They were so damn cheap that they didn't hire a large enough training staff, so they'd randomly pick fans out of the stands to handle the oxygen tanks on the sideline. SMH.

Everyone pays attention to the Braves even if we don't go to the games. The Tomahawks runs deep in the entire Southeast. Most pay attention to the Falcons. Few pay attention to the Hawks. The Thrashers get surprisingly good crowds.

Our game plans are in fact SHIT, I say until we fire Shotty the Offense will remain to be so basic that almost any defense in the league has no problem stopping it. All the talent in the world doesn't stand for much when you aren't using it. :(

Besides the Braves, Atlanta hasn't had much to cheer for as far as professional teams go. The Falcons are on the verge of changing that. Georgia is a football state whether it be high school or college in years past but the Falcons have been an inferior product until recently.

My point is that it's going to be run by the same people so even if you replaced Tirico, Jaws, and Gruden, the same group would make the hiring decisions for the new crew. In other words, who's to say the new group would be any better?

This is true - y'all laughed at the other guy for saying it was the most important regular season game in years, but in the Tri State the game was being billed as "The most important game in Jets regular season history". The hype over here was out of control.

I just can't see Falcons/Saints having a "storyline" that matched this game. I'm looking forward to it though.

Longtime division rivals vying for the number one seed throughout the playoffs?

That sounds familiar for some reason...

They have but the city isn't as juiced for these Hawks as it was for the late 90s with Mookie, Dikembe, Smith, etc. For some reason, we fucking loved that team.

I've gone to a few Hawks games in the last couple years, and they are always dead. There's a crowd there, but you could literally yell down to the floor it's so damn quiet.

I'm not really all over the place. When did I say the game would not draw? Again, you keep putting words into my mouth.

If last nights game wasn't over in the first quarter in all likelihood it would have garnered much better ratings then the matchup we are currently discussing. Same rules apply though to the upcoming one as well.

Hoo boy.

Let's break this down. My argument was never Saints/Falcons will draw more than Pats Jets.

You said Pats/Jets was a big game. No problem.

Verbum said Falc/Saints will be big too, to which you replied snackman wasn't there so no dice. I countered saying the Saints being the champs was kind of a big deal, you said The Saints and Falcons don't run their mouth like Rex. I said I didn't say you said that, you said I did and claimed that an ass fucking from one team to another is more highly anticipated cuz Rex and noone wants to see a goodfootballteamplaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

Like I said I'm looking forward to the game myself. But I just think there is more going on between the Jets/Pats in terms of the rivalry (other than just being division opponents) that keeps things interesting.

The argument is in multiple parts you gents are forgetting.

Does Atlanta have the same market for football as NE/NY? No.

Does NO? Off the top of my head I would say no, but the numbers for the NO games have been increasing drastically.

That is both local audiences.

The most important is the national audience, which is impossible to tell. How are you going to measure how many people from Texas, California, even Utah are going to be watching the game? You can't. That is where the hype and goddamn snacks come into play.

I just want to say that Atlanta is a top 10 tv market.
It all comes down to looking at the numbers, I'm not saying they aren't 100%. I'm pretty positive though the Falcons aren't quite there currently. I know they have been around the later part of the ten spot previously in various sports at different periods.

Matt Ryan has been hitting up Roddy on the deep comeback route on the right side all season long.

It's 3rd and 20.

Failure.

To be fair, that's on the corner. If the flat's free, the corner's supposed to trail the receiver back, especially in a 3rd and long situation. Talib prevents that play for sure.
