I could say the same thing about you guys for a few years. Not all of us have that mentality.

You know what my problem is and it's totally because of the people in Boston I interacted with. The lack of knowledge or interest in any team outside of their own and New York irked me and made sports discussions maddening.

I stand by the statement that fans of team like the Browns, Royals, Pirates or Bears are much better sports fans because while their teams and organization are dogshit, at least they still love the game. Now, Sanjuro and most Boston baseball fans on GAF stick it out in tough times. The same is probably true of Pats fans but the football thread is far more fluid so it can be tough to tell. I'm also positive there are plenty of Packers and (especially) Brewers fans who know only their teams but I deal with far more of those fansand run into it far fewer general sports morons than I do with Boston fans and Cubs fans (Bears fans are awesome fans, knowledge wise).

In short, I'm judging all of you always.

You could take it further and say that BB was nothing without Tom. Tom makes the magic happen on both sides of the ball but not the past couple of years :(
Except that he won with Cassel too.

Brady was always a system qb, but Bellicheat is the real deal unfortunately. Brady would not have won shit in the wrong system and with a dumb coach. He is no Big Ben.

I hate them both though and wish nothing but the worst on both of them and the entire fanbase of Boston.

Pats fan did not exist before 2001 when the terrorists won on two fronts...

God, I woke up this morning, and I still don't even know what to do with this...I still feel like dying. :(

That beating was so pure, absolute and thorough that there's nothing really to say about it. Goddamn.

yeah I'm just pretending like nothing happened this morning...avoiding sports talk radio and sports websites.

it's working okay so far.

It really depends on the sport.

NFL - Fantasy football has made "knowitalls" out of the least diehard fans. It is also a television sport more than any and each game is more of an event than a true season resulting in much more viewers in random games than any other sport.

MLB - This is my favorite sport but even I will admit following both leagues to a high level is difficult. I check out mainly NL games when there is nothing else on going in to the late hours of the east coast, but the AL/NL separation is the most interesting in all of sports. Another reason why I dislike the interleague play.

NHL/NBA - Both sports are almost identical in structure. The modern versions of both make divisions practically useless. There is a East and West. That is it. It's pretty easy to watch almost any game, but I will admit I don't give a shit about Golden State vs. Utah and/or Carolina vs. Florida.

I still think you find the most intelligent fans in the hockey and baseball circle. The other two you find the most shit breathers. Area has some to do with it, but less than you think in most cases. Unless you are in Florida or California. Then you fail.

You don't have a damn clue about what you are talking about. Like there were no Steeler fans in the 80/90s right?

As a Jets fan, you probably should have seen this coming tbh.

100% agree. Boston is a fantastic hockey town. Only place I have been where I can discuss college hockey with more than a handful of people. Which was especially sweet when I first got there since Bucky smoked BC in the 06 Champ game!

Which is why I said "many" and not all.

I met a lot of gracious Boston fans when I lived near there for a few years. Granted this was in 2004 so things may be different now.

However, I also knew a whole lot of guys who acted and sounded like Lunchbox. Basically like eznark said, they act like there's no such thing as sports outside of Boston and New York because all those other teams just aren't as good New England/New York sports teams.

To be fair, much of this mentality seemed to exist in other areas of life as well. I'm pretty sure there are maps in New England that shows New Jersey as the "deep south" and the actual south just says "Here be Dragons". At many times it really did feel like a separate nation up there.

edit: wow I hardly even realized Sanjuro is a Pats fan. Can we get more of him?

Losing, I could've dealt with. We split the season series last year and I believe in 2008 as well.

But to lose in that fashion - where the defense is incompetent, the offense non-existent, and the kicking/special teams ludicrous - is astounding.

@modernkicks: I have yet to read my favorite Jets blogs and forums, but I can't totally avoid this shit yet; I got like, 9,000 tweets/texts/e-mails/FB posts about "lol jets" to sift through. :x

There were probably not many Steeler fans in the 60s and before, but After the 70/ even when they sucked the fans still watched and went to games. Like a better version of the Browns.

But Boston? Ugh. Same town that chanted MVP for Kobe...

Some places down south are even more simpleminded or just slober over Peyton Manning's dong.

I would say the Sox fans around here are the best of the bunch in knowing other teams.

Diehard Bruins fans are the strangest of the bunch, many of them don't follow other sports even locally.

Traditional Celtic fans are fans of the game, they stretch out the farthest. Many of them are actually in New York.

Patriot fans are probably the least educated in the nicest way possible. Growing up this was Giants territory. Like I said, the first football team I watched was the Packers. 1993 changed everything.

This is your best fuel for argument purposes? Really?

I had multiple Red Sox fans tell me that Varitek is not only a Hall of Famer but the greatest catcher of all time. This was in the first few weeks of the 06 season. I knew at that moment what I was in for.

Stop acting so offended. The Patriots had a huge bandwagon uprising after their championship win. It’s par for the course for multiple Super Bowl winners. Happened with the Steelers, happened with the Colts, Giants and Saints.

We also gave a police escort to Mirabelli, something about dem catchers.

Sure. In the Patriots case it is incorrect. Our bandwagon started in the mid-90s. We have sold out every game since Kraft bought the team. So again, you don't know what you are talking about.

What do bandwagon fans have to do with stadium sellouts?

I feel bad for Green Bay fans right now. Rob Parker just said that Green Bay is the best team in the NFL and that they will win the super bowl.

We were already cursed by Peter King before the season started. Maybe they;ll cancel each other out.

This is a tough call, but in the end the Rob Parker jinx overpowers the Peter King jinx.

Edit: On that topic Skip also said the Pats are the best team in the NFL FML.

Thats pretty much true down here.

Actually I get to deal with SEC superiority complex which actually is a lot like Boston sports fan complex. When I suggest here that the Big 10 may be as good as the SEC I get laughed out of the room.

Oh and outside of fantasy football no one cares about professional sports on the larger level unless the Cowboys do well then everyone gets out their Aikman jerseys for a week. Which is odd since many of the people here were born and raised out of state...

Who the fuck is Rob Parker and if you don't think the Patriots are the best team in football right now you aren't paying attention.

I think college football fans are the most obnoxious (not all of them obviously) out of all the big north american sports. Rivals.com message boards are maybe the worst thing on the internet.

He is the worst ESPN analyst on 1st and 10 or whatever they call that segment. He is even worse than Skip Bayless. The ultimate jinx Rob Parker. Consider yourself lucky that you have never heard of Rob Parker.

Edit: Just a small taste of his stupidity.

I have a feeling that after last night's performance, New England will be #1 in most, if not all, of the power rankings. ATL should be #2. I'm good with that.

The Jets got curb stomped last night.

Who gives a fuck about a power ranking? I'll take controlling your own chances for a bye week and home field throughout. Standings are the rankings. Those aren't opinions.

I was just guessing where people, in their opinions, would put them since most of them come out today. It's the same reason people guess NPD numbers, movie grosses, etc.

:lol

So I put on CNN and the first thing they're talking about...

Patriots Destroy Jets 45-3
Brady throws 4 touchdowns

Really? Since when does CNN talk about individual football games? :lol
