Dear God just let this shitty week end

I have doubts on my team this weekend, for some reason we are going to fuck it up, even though you guys don't a QB as of right now.

What's the word on Rodgers? I want him to play though, it will be a fun match up.

EDIT: Fuck, sorry for the double post.

The Eagles should put it in his contract that he'll only be allowed to own small breeds.

...because their necks are easier on the wrist.

and he should have an assistant to help him pull out the female dogs teeth so she can't bite back when they are trying to breed her with another pit bull to make the ultimate fighting dog

Eznark, what do you cite for that clusterfuck against the Lions?

Curious what people saw on TV opposed to the field.

I was at that game and it was one of the most boring NFL games I've ever attended. My group was joking with each other regarding how many punts were missed while on bathroom/snack runs.

The weather was shitty too. We left after the Lions missed the field goal in the third quarter. It had hit the magic point in the game where we didn't give a shit who won. I was bored senseless, and we had a loooong drive home in horrible weather.

Just listening to WFAN 660 here in NYC and they are saying how the Jets are coming across like liars. How is the Strength and conditioning coach instructing players to form a wall?

Jets are crumbling, Packers are crumbling, Vikings crumbled. Bears curse, don't play them this season!

Um, Jets are crumbling arguably because their confidence was lost in a blowout delivered by the Patriots.

Guess who will crumble next?

Jets are crumbling because they have a 2nd yr QB who is going the usual 2nd yr struggles, a running game that has gone missing, and an inept overall offense even though they have talented WRs and RBs. Even when they were winning it was against bad to average teams and they were struggling in those games. Plus add in all the distractions, lack of discipline, a cocky attitude even though they haven't won anything and you have all the necessary ingredients.

Now watch them beat the Steelers and shock the NFL.

The Giants can clinch a playoff spot Sunday with win over the Eagles plus a Bears, Packers and Tampa Bay loss along with the strength of victory tiebreaker over the Bucs.

Get your wild rumor hats on. The Atlanta Journal-Constitution is asking questions!

It didn't take long for the speculation about the next Denver Broncos head coach to reach our own Mike Mularkey, he of the 14-18 career coaching record and questionable offensive wizardry. D. Orlando Ledbetter painstakingly draws out the links: An interim coach who served on Mularkey's Buffalo staff, developed Matt Ryan along Bill Musgrave and is capable of guiding a conservative, run-first attack.

It makes an awful lot of sense on paper, and even the record probably won't scare the Broncos off. After all, as they have been for the rest of the decade, the Bills weren't all that great back in 2004-05, when he served as their coach. You should also take with a grain of salt the fact that Mularkey said he hasn't been contacted, because as DOL notes himself, teams aren't technically allowed to contact coaches during a season. With Mularkey admitting that he wants to lead a team again, this could be his shot to do so.

The ultimate irony here would be if the Falcons lose Mularkey in the off-season and bring aboard Josh McDaniels as an offensive coordinator, which would be a straight swap with the Broncos. I expect Mularkey going elsewhere would be greeted with some enthusiasm by some quarters, but he has been a steady hand at the helm of this offense. Tough to say if McDaniels' more aggressive approach or one from someone else entirely would resonate with this team, but we may have to find out.

Ugh. I hate these contrived clinching scenarios.

The key to this is if Alosi gets fired -- if so, I think he'll quickly come out with the facts of who instructed him to do it. As everyone is stating, it seems far-fetched that he came up with the wall idea on his own -- but so far, he's taking the fall for it and playing along. But I think he'll change his stance if he actually gets fired for simply doing what he was told to do by someone higher up.

And I think the only reason the Jets even followed up today was because of all of the reports and discussion about the wall in the first place. The PR about 'more facts were provided' is BS....it's more, 'oh shit - every sports site has figured this out, we need to react before the NFL does'.

On another note, I havent posted here in forever -- been a hectic Q4 at work. Would like to see the Fins somehow sneak in the playoffs, but I dont think it will happen. Im really curious to see what happens to the team in the offseason - specifically the QB situation, the RB situation (Brown's contract runs up, Williams is up in the air to return) and if any coaching changes will happen. OC has got to go, but I want Sparano to stay. Of course none of that really matters if there isnt a season next year.

Vikings asking for fans to volunteer and help shovel out UofM stadium for the game :lol

They are. I listen to them often for the spot they do with Carl Banks and Antrel Rolle.

Not entirely contrived to be frank. The only game in that scenario that I have serious doubts will happen is the Vikings beating the Bears after the performance they put on against the Giants this past Monday. All the rest of the games are toss-ups and that scenario could very well play out.

NFL.com usually updates it weekly but if you want to talk contrived:

Welp better start preparing for Rodgers to be out, FFers. Seeming more and more doubtful. He likely won't practice at all this week. Even Friday is looking slim.

Jim Fassel a possible candidate for the Broncos head coaching job?

http://www.denverpost.com/broncos/ci_16851671

Don't Count Out Fassel

The last time the Broncos held a head coaching search, they went against a trend. The Broncos gave Josh McDaniels his first head coaching job in January 2009, even though nine of the previous 11 Super Bowl champions were led by head coaches in their second stints.

The nine "retreads" with their Super Bowl-championship seasons — Mike Shana- han (1997-98), Dick Vermeil (1999), Bill Belichick (2001, 2003-04), Jon Gruden (2002) Tony Dungy (2006) and Tom Coughlin (2007).

Since then, the last two Super Bowl winners were first- time head coaches — Pittsburgh's Mike Tomlin (2008) and New Orleans' Sean Payton (2009).

Despite this recent run, Broncos owner Pat Bowlen may be gun-shy about hiring a first-time head coach again. If so, Jim Fassel may get a look. He led the New York Giants to Super Bowl XXXV and, perhaps just as important, was the Broncos' offensive coordinator in 1993 when John Elway had his only 4,000-yard passing season.

Matt Cassel is back at practice today:

Matt Cassel was suited up and participating in today's practice, the first of the week for the Chiefs as they get ready for Sunday's game against the Rams in St. Louis.

During the brief portion of practice open to the media, Cassel was running with his teammates (though he lagged behind the other quarterbacks). He stretched and then was first in line, a position reserved for the starter, when the quarterbacks started throwing.

He was handing off to running backs while Brodie Croyle and Tyler Palko started position drills by throwing to the wide receivers. Cassel later was in the huddle and did some throwing during a drill in which all three quarterbacks, each with a ball in hand, throws to a receiver down the field.

Cassel threw three deep passes but only one with a strong zip. He showed good accuracy, there was no defense in place.

My guess on his availablilty Sunday? There's clearly a chance he will play against the Rams. Otherwise, the Chiefs wouldn't have allowed him to be practicing. But it also appears the Chiefs aren't counting on him being ready.

Hahahaha, now the University of Minnesota wants people to go shovel out their stadium for free. The Vikings originally posted they were paying people 10 bucks an hour for 6 hour shifts, and the University said ahhhhhhhhh no. So the Vikings pulled this off their website and the university is hoping people will now come help for nothing. :lol

Also, as much as I love Rex Ryan rants he should be suspended as well. How could he not have known what was going on? He is the head coach. In the history of the NFL nothing like this has ever happened.

Listen pal, Roger Goodell says there's nothing to see here. He's already cleared the GM and soon he'll start his investigation and clear Rex.

Edit: Mario Williams to IR. Makes sense. I'd put AJ on IR too with that ankle.

You really left? I don't know how much of a fan you are of either team, but cmon man. That was a close game that came down to one of two big plays not being made by green bay. I understand how terrible the weather was, believe me. But that is a huge divisional game for the Packers and a huge win for the Lions. No matter the circumstances, you leaving makes no sense to me. Not even god himself would convince me to have left

Just Foster is better than him as an RB this season.

I think it should be either Peyton or Foster with Brady as MVP.

Hmm, are you implying Peyton Manning as MVP this season? I'm gonna assume you meant someone else.

And I think you forgot to include Michael Vick in your MVP discussion. He has clearly done more for his team (arguably) than any other play. I think the Eagles are a slightly sub .500 team without him playing QB. I understand he hasn't played all year as the QB, but when he has, the Eagles have been pretty forceful.

Just an opinion, though

get the fuck out of here that the jets strength & conditioning coach acted alone. the only reason he hasn't been fired is because the jets know this runs deeper and if he's fired he's going to sing.

i have no rooting interest in the AFC but only the jets could turn me into a patriots supporter.

Yeah just like McDaniels had nothing to do with Spygate 2...

Wouldn't this work the other way around?

jets loldynastylol is over before it began. their qb and team got exposed, their scum bag coaching staff got exposed, now rexy's bout to get exposed
