Yeah, I actually felt under pressure to get it done. Was pretty fun with the back and forth and theh deadline and all. i'm enjoying this mode.

:lol I know, me and Sox had been working this out for a few days now, it was originally going to be a 3 way trade, but we switched it up since it was the deadline. Most fun I've had so far in the GM mode, I had a few lines out there.

Good news is I pulled ahead in the standings again, didn't suffer many injuries, and I improved my team both long term and short term. Gave up some of my immediate future to secure a cup run, hopefully Pronger and the rest of my D can stay injury free.

This game also picked Vancouver to win the Cup last year. Clearly, realism is nowhere to be found in this series.

Hey there, it got like 14 out of 16 matchups correct the year before if I remember correctly. That's like 6 more than any of us did. And didn't it also predict a Boston-Vancouver final the year before that at the BEGINNING of the season? It can't be that bad.

Worst part about this is I have a feeling I'll get knocked out in the playoffs to a 8th seed a la Vancouver, all while giving up some of my immediate future. At least I still have good building blocks and some good picks in this years draft to cover my ass.

Are you saying that the Kane trade makes you better in the short term, or are you talking about other trades?

It's basically the same as a fantasy sports draft ranking. You organize the list based on who you want and it will draft the highest rated person left on your list when its your pick.

I honestly can't remember if you can do it for other rounds. I didn't spend a whole lot of time messing with it during my test season. After the first round its basically a crapshoot anyway.

It'd just be nice to at least be able to tell the CPU to draft for position. e.g. I have loads of d-men, so I want to draft a few forwards in the first few rounds. But damnit, putting in names makes it interesting. Am I gonna put a presumed low pick and possibly waste it since he'll be gone? Or am I counting on other people not putting his name down? dang. This is gonna be interesting. Do you remember how many names?

I'd assume first round is names then, and other rounds CPU drafts best player available, hopefully we can at least pick position or forward/d/goalie or so.

I got Kane + Halll + Hamhuis all for mostly picks and prospects. Kane is the exception where I gave up roster players. All trades help me right now, and Hall and Kane are two players I can build around. Hamhuis adds stability on my D line seeing as Timonen and Pronger are kind of sketchy with injuries. If those two can stall healthy, then I have a good chance at the cup.

Went from one 79ovr LW to four LWs averaging 83. Couple great prospects gone, but they were made redundant anyhow. Might as well be for Parise.

That was three days ago. Since then he hasn't accepted the offers and hasn't been responding to my messages asking what's up (despite being online). It meant that I couldn't pursue another 1st line LW during that time and couldn't trade away the prospects/picks that were involved in our deal.

No one's asking you to take this as seriously as CrazedArabMan is, but come on... don't waste my time.

Edit: figured out that this team takes the most penalties and gets the least amount of PP oppertunities, so I scratched Ben Eager (leading the team with 111 pim and -4) and see what happens.

Subban is a 4.5 goalie prospect. I have Cam Ward holding it down until he is ready, but hopefully it's sooner rather than later so I can get a return on Ward before he starts to decline.

But yeah, you'll HAVE to make them a bigger contract offer and they'll tell you how much they want. QO's at least get you some picks if you can't agree on a contract.

You submit a QO (just to be safe) while at the same time submitting a bigger contract offer. If they turn down your contract offer and it's now past July 1st, the player can be offer sheeted but you can still negotiate with him.

Arbitration isn't in it because EA, that's why. NHL 13 is the first game that has real waiver rules, so there'a that.

Are you talking about qualifying offers or contract offers? I'm honestly surprised. They always ask for way more than QO's, and they've only accepted mine towards the end of the offseason, if even. If you click you can choose between qualify and submit offer. Just wanna make sure we're talking about the same thing.

As long as you offer the player enough money, the contract offers themselves are almost always accepted, so I would assume that's what Marvie is referring to.

It took them until this year to have proper "time played/age" waiver rules instead of "2way contract = no waivers", so I'm expecting arbitration for NHL 19.

And well, Marvie said we'll get two days to sign them. I'd prefer more days (to allow for more negotiating and thus better cap management (since more days to negotiate = more trials to find the perfect deal). If you give them what they want they'll accept but you'll possibly run into cap problems. So yes, it's no problem to get the players you want to stay, it WILL be a problem to keep ALL players you want, which is kinda realistic. And you can always match offer sheets too or hope they accept your offers before they get offer sheeted.
