Maybe you need to be from Washington/BC/Oregon, but it's been a thing for ages. It just isn't commercialised so you wouldn't hear about it outside of the region
Had never even heard of it until the Seahawks played the 9ers. Then suddenly it's everywhere.

Pacific Northwest is as much a term as Bible Belt or Midwest. No idea how you haven't come across it yet.

I know it's a term. I didn't know if was an area that people repped sports-wise until now.

Seahawks start winning and suddenly Canuckleheads are like PACIFIC NORTHWEST 4 LYFE.

There's really no overlap in sports teams in Oregon/Washington/BC, so it's not all that surprising that we'd associate with them/they'd associate with us.

That's because most Canucks fans... or Vancouver fans in general are fair-weather fans.

Half of my buddies in Vancouver were texting me during the blow out. My response was name a player not from the current team you know except for shaun alexander and matt hasselbeck and that shuts them up :)

So what is there really a hawt Mariners, Seahawks, and Sounders fanbase in Van?

Vancouver has the Whitecaps, so the Sounders aren't really there. Baseball is NOT big at all here, and we have... uh... I don't even know what they're called. The BC Lions are pretty big though, so it's not very surprising that the Seahawks are pretty big too.

I'm sure there's predominantly Canucks fans in Seattle/Oregon too.

It's not even about cheering for the team on a constant basis, but if they're in a championship game, you just cheer for people that are part of this geographic/cultural region.

Come cheer for the Capitals friend.

I know a lot of huge Seahawks fans. They go to games occasionally. I'm talking well before the team was at all competitive. The NFL is big here, period. And most rep the Hawks. It's always been like that.

Some Mariners fans, but few. No Sounders fans for obvious reasons.

The only reason 'Pacific Northwest' is new to you is because... I assume... Seattle rarely gets national attention.

Consider yourself educated, Acid.

Alright, fair enough. Didn't think the NFL was popular up there.

Also I don't follow anything that isn't the NHL so yeah, I wouldn't really hear much about Seattle.

Imagine if wsox was a happy dude that said nice things about people and to people.

"Look at ol' wsox over there, what a swell guy" women would say as they saw wsox bending over to help an old lady pick up her dropped groceries.

"You're a fucking cunt fire Crawford you shit cunt" wsox whispers in her ear as he smiles.

Real talk... only Canadian ex-pats care about Hockey here in Seattle. There are some bandwagoners come playoff time though.

Found this map, not sure how accurate it is. But yeah I'm not talking hardcore fans, but once playoffs come around, sympathies lie here. Like Vancouver's Seahawks-fan population exploded during these playoffs and will likely diminish again during the off&regular season.

Surprised NFLD is left out. Pretty much Leafs territory. Sask too is pretty split between Flames and Oilers.

Shouldn't Phoenix's be like three houses?

HEY WHY ARE YOU SO NEGATIVE YOU HAVE NO SOUL

You're right. I'm sorry about that. I gotta be positive.

I'm hoping they start rallying. Need to balance the skill game while giving the skilled players some room they aren't getting now with that new edge we've found. #freetorts

NL is Habs/Leafs territory really. Most hockey discussions that happen in the province are pretty much just those fan bases arguing :p

The Flyers should engulf south jersey and the Rangers should engulf north to central jersey.

Just leave a little orange blob for the Devils fans in the state.

That Coyotes area looks a little big.

...there are games broadcast nationally?

Can't tell if troll or not :(

And I know Alaska wasn't included on the map but I'd say were split four ways. 25% each Sharks (no idea why) Stars (Texas transplants, move back to Texas you fucks) Avs (well, I know other Avs fans in the state so I'll call us 25%) and Edmonton (local ECHL radio caller went to Edmonton from Anchorage)

Sharks, Stars and Avs make no goddamn sense for Alaska. I'd understand Canucks or Flames or Oilers... but what

'MURICA, we aint rootin for no silly Canadian team

If Seattle got a team I figure most people who are just casual watchers would pick them.

It doesn't help that we don't have a TV team, so we only get NHL Network/NBCSN games unless you buy a package or stream stuff.

There are still Coyotes fans here. Few, but some diehards still cheer for them as opposed to the current team.

... do you live in Phoenix? Or in Winnipeg and you're talking "former Jets"? that's weird.
