NHL February 2015 |OT| The next Maple Leafs goal will be scored by Connor McDavid

Something, anything on defense. Yzerman is extremely hesitant to make any short term moves, and while that's usually a smart decision, it's frustrating when the Lightning have a legitimate shot to come out of the East this year. They likely won't with the D corp they have right now though.

25-year-old Lucas Sbisa for Kucherov.

Are the Canucks trading Kassian or what? He seems to play well whenever he's not a healthy scratch so what's their problem with him?

Kassian is inconsistent and a defensive liability. He only got back in because Burrows got hurt and now Willie looks like a genius for putting him with the Sedins.

Scratching seems to motivate him, but I hope he isn't traded as his value can't be very high right now.

In addition to other pursuits, the Kings also have dabbled in injury analytics to figure out the mathematical likelihood of re-injury before investing in players long-term.

"What is Lupul's likelihood of re-injury?"

"It's 50% percent sir."

"I thought it would be higher.... are you sure that-"

"That's just during practice. If we're talking in-game, then the likelihood is 99.9%"

"Oh.. oh I see."

Must have invested in this when they got Gaborik.

Can't even imagine why we would have a scout there.

Both Therrien & Bergevin have said they use analytics when examining other teams players, but they don't use it on their own players. Bergevin specifically has said multiple times that they have their own stats they use, but he wouldn't disclose which they were.

Respek analytics.

NHL season-ticket deposit drive reaches 6,800

After exploding out of the box with about 5,000 season ticket deposits in the first 36 hours two weeks ago, the ownership group seeking a National Hockey League team for Las Vegas reported Monday that the number has reached nearly 6,800.

Lead investor Bill Foley said the “Vegas Wants Hockey” initiative signs up about 100-150 ticket deposits a day.

The goal of the ticket drive is at least 10,000 commitments.

“I need 1,500 good men and women to make deposits on two seats,” Foley said. “We’re not going to casinos or the Strip (asking for deposits). We’re asking local people that they put their hard-earned money down for a deposit.”

The minimum ticket deposit is $150, about 10 percent down. The most expensive seat requires a $900 deposit. Foley said the cheapest seats in the upper bowl and the costliest ones at center ice are the fastest ones to be purchased.

Foley is partnering with the Maloof brothers of Las Vegas, former owners of the NBA Sacramento Kings, on a ticket drive to show NHL officials that the Las Vegas market is worthy of a big-league hockey club.

Foley said NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman is monitoring the Las Vegas ticket campaign on a daily basis. Bettman attended the ticket drive launch announcement in Las Vegas on Feb. 10.

That LV ticket drive doesn't include any long term commitment? Not that hard to get big numbers for one year, but I thought a big part of Winnipeg's successful ticket drive was the amount of 6 year commitments they got.

If I remember correctly, it is a multi-year commitment.

Come on guys you just don't understand the genius of Bettman and the board of governors here. They are trying to expand the game of hockey in unconventional markets like they did in Atlanta, Phoenix and Florida.

Who cares about known commodities like Winnipeg and Quebec when you can chase an imaginary market.

Finally was able to watch the Pk special with Willie O'Ree. It's fantastic, PK is such a good ambassador for the sport. His ability to ignore and undermine the racism he faces is really impressive.

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.
Hell I'd buy a Seattle ticket right now

I'd figure out the difficult stuff like being a 3.5 hour flight away later

I'd actually buy a Seattle season ticket. Driving down there will be much cheaper than watching Canucks games.

I'd just love to have games on a regional sports network for a change.

I hate the fact that the local cable company doesn't even offer NHL Network (in Alaska FFS) so I only get NHL Network games and the Avs games I stream. When a team arrives in Seattle they should show the games on Root, meaning I'd be able to watch them :(

Agreed, I respect PK a lot because of that.

I'd buy season tickets as well. If they built the arena in Bellevue, I could walk to the games after work since I work a few blocks away from where they proposed to build it. If they actually built it downtown, then it's a 45 minute drive in traffic.

Yay late night games! Of course they keep winning every time I miss most of the game soooooo..... We're probably still going to lose since Z is out.
