A mode that plays like shit and isn't any fun.
To answer your question for real, they basically tweaked the controls/rules/graphics in an attempt to get the game to play like NHL 94, but it's not fun like NHL 94, it's just awful.Dammit
What they should have done, is just included NHL 94 on the disc but update the teams/rosters/etc with current players. That would have made more sense.

I was about 90% committed to buying 15 because I need my hockey fix, but I'm going to hold off for at least a week now and see what the backlash is like. What they've done is a joke, and Destiny is out anyways so I can occupy myself with that for some time.

That's what I thought it was, the Genesis version of 94 with current teams and rosters +Fighting, when it was announced, Still irks me that they removed fighting in 94, the only flaw in the game for me. After playing NHLPA 93 with the Jets with basically NO enforcers (Shawn Cronin, non-withstanding) I was so pumped to be able to play with lines that included Tie Domi, Kris King and others, who could actually crush people in fights.
Such a letdown. Ah well, I still play 94 when I go to my brother's place, he uses the Jets, and I use the Wings. Kind of morbid that a chunk of the Wings lines are either dead or incapacitated in some way...
I'm still going to get NHL 15, regardless, as I basically just play it when I have some friends over, use only the 94 control scheme, and don't bother with the other features. I love that they update rosters as the season goes. Much improved over the old versions, in that regard.
Well we're at 16, but we need even # of teams to draft, we we would need another person if we added you, not sure if there is interest.
Gotta get it out on time and get that money!

Don't worry, I'm sure 3 or 4 of those features will get phased in each year until it's as feature rich as NHL14. Then PS5/XB2(?) will get released and we'll be back to a barren wasteland. Rinse and repeat.
