Ninja Gaiden Ragebound Announced | The Game Awards 2024

Probably my favorite announcement of the night from a sentimental standpoint. I usually hate gaijin devs taking on nihon IP, but the Blasphemous team is fucking legit (Blasphemous 2 is up there as the best Metroidvania ever and I do not say that lightly) and the game looks gorgeous.

nice - somehow reminds me of Ninja Spirit, than NES Ninja Gaiden. Still very much interested!
(but I suck at Ninja Gaiden 2d games.. haha - I was never able to finish any of the 2D ones)

I'm sure they will eventually make another 3D one as well, but this style of game will always be Ninja Gaiden for me. Old-school? Hell yeah.

Let's fucking go! It looks amazing, that pixel art... I hope they don't dumb down the difficulty.

While you wait for this, consider playing this gem as a warm up.

Style is a bit too reminiscent of Blasphemous but those are some of the best 2D games ever created so I trust this will be great.

Listen, i'm excited about this and i'm gonna grab it Day1 but i'd have preferred way more NG4/a 3D one since - at this point - they're more iconic (and actually better games) than the 2D ones of yore - i double dare anyone trying the NES ones in 2024, they're an exercise in frustration due to bad controls and cheap, unfair enemy placement/level hazards.
Then again, this seems more like a Shinobi game gameplay-wise compared to the NGs of old.

Maybe they're (still) trying to gauge the interest people have with this franchise (hence the safer, cheaper game) and maybe, if this sells well they'll go full ahead with a 3D one ?

Loved it. Nice to see it's in pixel art and having people it has working on it.

Dotemu does a great job working with 80s/90s classics, and also the Game Kitchen guys are super talented, they did a great job with the Blasphemous games and for this game have another director/producer who is also very experienced and has a lot of knowledge and good taste regarding classic games from the '80s an '90s.

It's going to be great.

Well the good news is they contracted a totally different developer so it's really just additive. If a 3D game is coming, it's from someone else entirely.

I love it. Great show opener, perfect studio for the job, so unexpected this soon after Blasphemous 2. IN!

Not only was I surprised to hear that we're getting a new 2D Ninja Gaiden, but the shock really? The Game Kitchen is developing it. Considering I LOVE Blasphemous, this game is DAY 1 for me.

So happy for this. I wish it was just called Ninja Gaiden 4 though. I'm not super sold on the graphic style. It looks a little too much like the Messenger or Cyber Shadow (which are great) games. Still, it's the original Ryu and it's 2D Ninja Gaiden with anime cutscenes. I'm been wanting that forever.

I just found out about this game.

It almost sounds like it's going to relate to the original NES series which would be really cool.

This whole package is just an amazing occurrence. Once in a while I guess we can have nice things. Conceptually it's some shit I'd get lit and post about in a forum. "What is the Blasphemous dudes did a Ninja Gaiden game man?" Pretty freaking cool that it's actually just happening.

KONAMI ARE YOU SEEING THIS
