Gunstar Heroes is next week? Sweet! But I'll probably get it a few weeks later. And then I have to decide if I either get Paper Mario along with it or Streets of Rage 2 and another 5€ game.

Soo, what Nintendo games are you all playing this weekend?

None. :(
Currently busy with Catherine on PS3, but when I finished that I want to revisit Smash Bros. Wii U.

Well Splatoon for me though the Boy child recently had a birthday and got some games + eshop credit along with grabbing another eshop card with some of his birthday cash yesterday.

So I've helped him pick out a ton of shit which I'll be indirectly playing if/when he needs help and I feel like helping vs telling him he can figure it out. In the last few weeks he's gotten Xeodrifter, Steamworld Dig, Kirby Triple Deluxe, Gunman Clive 2, MH4U, Metroid, Castlevania 2 ect... and I know for sure he's gonna be like lolwut in Castlevania 2.

Also I gifted the girl child my copy of Animal Crossing. So I'll be playing that while she learns the game. :p

Broken Rules is porting the original Electronic Super Joy over to Wii U.

In other Broken Rules news, Secrets of Raetikon ain't coming to Wii U since their engine doesn't support multithreading. :/ (which is weird considering it's based on Chasing Aurora, a Wii U-exclusive game)

@brokenrules 6h6 hours ago
Secrets of Raetikon will never see the light of day on WiiU. That is, unless someone wants to rebuild the engine to support multi-threading.

@brokenrules 6h6 hours ago
Which is a shame, because it would go so nicely along @Chasing_Aurora. So if there are any takers, let us know!

Sounds like performance thing. The most logical interpretation of the tweets is that the engine won't run fast enough on Wii U without offloading some tasks to the other 2 CPU cores.

I've been working my way through Ace Attorney Trilogy. I just finished up Turnabout Samurai in the first game and I've been really enjoying it. I think once I finish Trilogy I'll probably grab Dual Destinies next time it's on sale... though I don't know if I should try to find and play the other games that came between them first.

Otherwise I've been keeping up with Pokemon Shuffle and occasionally running through a few puzzles at a time in the Picross-e games.

Xenoblade time
Hah, that brings me back. I got Xenoblade and Skyward Sword on the same day and for the next couple of weeks after that the Wii's version of the Activity Log said it had been on for 24 hours. Then I knew that if my Wii survived my brother and I marathoning both games to completion one time each, under the Caribbean sun that's trying to kill us all, it would survive anything we threw at it.

That's actually the reason I never went back to it. I knew it would suck me in and demand so much.
And in the end, the love it takes is equal to the love it makes~

Love Kirby 64. The fridge power is my fave. How's Kay?

The voice acting and some of the game design elements are very much tied to where the industry was 10 years ago as far as B-tier games were concerned. The combat is surprisingly decent though, and the racing mini-game actually has online leaderboards. Brand new the game is $25 so it's a pretty easy recommend if you're looking for a 3D platformer that hits the nostalgia buttons and don't mind it being a B+ rather than an A+.

And yes I agree about the first part.

7 hour average play time? My God. Did you tear through it in 2 weeks?

That's actually the reason I never went back to it. I knew it would suck me in and demand so much.

I just sit down and 10 hours are gone and it feels like I just started

and I just want to keep playing it... so much end game content

Splatoon for the first time, borrowed from a friend. Had some good matches, mostly came first or second. Reached lvl 4 so didn't play much.

And NSMBU, I had stopped right after defeating Bowser so I went back to get some star coins. This game is unexpectedly good.

Wii U Virtual Console
Wario: Master of Disguise
Am I correcting remembering this is one of those cases where the European version is improved*? I remember hearing the drawing works a lot better but can't find any reports right now. Still it doesn't change the fact it is Wario: Master of Disguise.

*-I guess Mario & Luigi Partners in time was too in the sense they used the Japanese version stats rather than than the US version which turned late-game bosses into damage sponges.

cw_sasuke

If all DLC came tied to $13 figurines, I'd consider all DLC to be free
I hate coming into the threads just to bitch - but from all first Party DS games they could release they chose Wario Master of Disguise ?

A bit weird - it sometimes feels as if Nintendo is keeping the better releases for whenever the NX launches instead of "wasting" them now on WiiU.

Jeez Ninty why is it so hard for you to put your damn games on effin' sale...

BTW do DSi Games ever go on sale? Thinking of getting at least Rayman from there.

Recent? I think you may have been asleep for a few months :D

BTW do DSi Games ever go on sale? Thinking of getting at least Rayman from there.

the ~Ware services were not built for that. So no, they never do.

Every week I check the PR expecting a super big summers sale 50% off everything Nintendo. Why am I doing this? LOL

You love pain? This will never happen.

And this concludes my dream crushage for the morning.

I've known about Gunstar Heroes for months I was asking about a source for the new releases on the EU eShop this week :3

Lame, will prob. buy a few games from there each month though.

What are must haves in the DSiWare library for EU eShop?

The source for new releases is the same as every week, NOE's weekly Monday PR :)

Plus SEGA confirmed the release last week on twitter^^

Dark Void Zero

You never know. Maybe next week... :p

And the whip keeps on cracking :D

It kind of did last year though? They had the Smash Bros Newcomer and Veteran sales with discounts in all sorts of Nintendo stuff. It's where I got Fire Emblem and Animal Crossing.

"Kind of" doesn't cut it when he's waiting for a 50% off everything Ninty summer sale :D

it's either that or it isn't :D

BTW do DSi Games ever go on sale? Thinking of getting at least Rayman from there.
Once and North America only. During the Smash Bros character sales Game & Watch DK Junior was on sale. I guess all services need exceptions to rules like when the Wii shop had those SEGA VC games on sale (and the occasional European miss-price at launch, usually for TG16 CD games).

What are must haves in the DSiWare library for EU eShop?
What kind of genres are you after? It is quite well loaded for the puzzle genre with Snapdots (if you have access to Australia), Suujin Taisen (sadly there is no longer any multiplayer in this version, really odd as the Japanese retail release I have supports download play), a number of Art Style games (not in Russia for some reason) to name a few more obvious ones. Of course the puzzle genre is one of the ones whose value has really been crushed over the years.

The worst thing about DSiWare is having to manage the fridge and remembering to hold select to boot into 1:1.

What are must haves in the DSiWare library for EU eShop?

Art Style Series:
Aquite, Boxlife, Code, Intersect , Picopict, Kubos , Nemrem
(Picopict is the best of the lot and the essential one to buy.)

Game & Watch Collection:
Chef, Judge, Mario's Cement Factory, Helmet, Manhole, Vermin, Ball, Donkey Kong Jr., Flagman
(Donkey Kong Jr. is the essential one.)

A little bit of... Puzzle League
(great if you don't own the DS retail version.)

Mario vs. Donkey Kong: Minis March Again
(Possibly surpassed by the recent 3DS/Wii U release, but my favourite DSi game nonetheless)

If you're a Sudoku fan, having Brain Training Sudoku digitally is cool too, lots of content.

Downloading ZaciSa the second it hits the eShop. Would have bought it at full price, so introductory offer is very generous.

Personally, I prefer CODE and INTERSECT over it.

Agreed, it's the best of the series IMO, at a quite low price. I find the purple cubes/Mario & Wario mechanics much more interesting than the drag 'n drop ones.

Wario: Master of Disguise? Eeeeehhhhhh, not what I was expecting, but it makes me hope this means they'll put other, better Wario games like Shake It on the eShop.

.........................so uh, what are the chances Master of Disguise will be this week's "classic games for hardcore gamers" on the VC in the US?

& hoping the US also gets that Project Mirai DX demo this week as well (I'm sure we will). I'm still trying to decide if I should get it at launch with the bonus stuff or wait for it to be around $20 like I did for both Project Diva games on Vita.

My DSiWare essentials would be:

A Kappa's Trail
ArtStyle Series: Boxlife
ArtStyle Series: PictoBits
Aura-Aura Climber
Bird & Beans
Dark Void Zero
Go! Go! Kokopolo
The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Anniversary Edition
Metal Torrent
Mighty Milky Way
Mr. Driller: Drill Till You Drop
Petit Computer
Spotto!
Snapdots (aka: Guruguru Logic Champ!)
Starship Defense
Trajectile
X-Scape

.........................so uh, what are the chances Master of Disguise will be this week's "classic games for hardcore gamers" on the VC in the US?
It better not be with things like Advance Wars 2, Zero Mission and Fire Emblem SD still stuck in the queue. I'd rather get another Wii game like S&P2 or Xenoblade than the worst Wario.
