I wanted SNES game too because I have never played. But I suppose they have to sell StarFox Zero with best Starfox representation possible.

You knew Star Fox SNES was never gonna happen. Old hat is still as old as ever.

Donkey Kong Country (Nintendo, SNES VC) - €7.99/£7.19 (€3.99/£3.59 if you have downloaded Donkey Kong Country 2)
In 1994, at the dawn of 32-bit consoles, one game blew players away with its pre-rendered 3D graphics, cartoon-quality animation and atmospheric music – on the 16-bit Super NES! Donkey Kong Country breathed new life into the character of Donkey Kong, and introduced gamers to Diddy Kong, Cranky Kong and bad guys the Kremlings. Join DK and Diddy on a quest to recover their stolen banana hoard. Traverse more than 30 challenging levels, take a ride on animal buddies and survive the madcap mine cart sequences. You'd be bananas not to play Donkey Kong Country!

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest (Nintendo, SNES VC) - €7.99/£7.19 (€3.99/£3.59 if you have downloaded Donkey Kong Country)
Donkey Kong has been kidnapped by the evil Kaptain K. Rool, who is demanding DK's hard-earned banana hoard as a ransom! But there's no way the Kongs are going to give it up that easily! In this pirate-themed sequel to the hit Donkey Kong Country, guide Diddy or Dixie Kong through eight wild worlds of comical action across the Kremling-infested Crocodile Isle. Discover new secrets, learn new abilities, meet new Kong family members, and take the reins of new animal buddies such as Squitter the Spider and Rattly the Rattlesnake.

Discover hidden paths in forward-scrolling missions and switch into All-Range Mode for full 360-degree manoeuvring. Star Fox 64 also features a VS. mode for up to four players to battle it out in three thrilling game types.

Infinity Runner (Wales Interactive) - €6.49/£5.89

Infinity Runner centres on a prisoner desperately trying to escape the decaying ship and the clutches of the terror within. AFAIK they can't legally release Super FX games...
Oh, because Argonaut Games was the company who developed the chip? But from what I'm hearing, the company was liquidated in 2005, then dissolved in 2006.

Also oh right, Hyrule Warriors Legends is out this week. Seeing the Season Pass, I GUESS I'll buy it AGAIN. I just wish I could transfer my Wii U save (though I'd have to rent a copy since I sold it due to figuring I'd never get around to putting all the hours required).

Edit: Looking at the other games that had it, there's really only Yoshi's Island (to which we got the GBA version), &....I guess Stunt Race FX? Doubt people want to go back to playing the SNES version of Doom (which had the Super FX 2).

I'm afraid they will launch MyNintendo next week, after all those discounts on SNES games... I'm trying to hold off so I can get some extra points but we don't even know how MyNintendo will work in Europe... right ?

Hey Robin64 I guess this is the free DLC Nintendo Zone was telling me about last week!

Remind me why that is please?

There's always been a thing floating round on the internet that Nintendo don't own the rights to the Super FX chip. It could be true, but I don't think it's ever been confirmed either way.

Argonaut, company who made it = dead = legal limbo bonanza nonsense = RIP Super FX chip games = why you'll never see Yoshi's Island SNES and Star Fox SNES on VC.

It's speculation about the specifics, but some of the Argonaut owned patents relating to SuperFX expired just last year in the US. I don't know the corresponding European or Japanese patents last longer.

NES and N64 games are horribly dark. It seems SNES and GBA are the only good emulation on the Wii u. Haven't checked DS so I have no opinion.

There's nothing wrong with DS emulation. Other than that you can't remap buttons like for the other systems. So feel free to add that to the list of good ones.

Also, this is kinda funny:

@NintendoUK
@NintendoUK Yes, this is the US release, Star Fox 64 and not Lylat Wars. Enjoy barrel rolling in glorious 60Hz!
https://twitter.com/NintendoUK/status/711929646582013952

if only because it's the first time they flat out address this on Twitter and in that casual tone :)

Calling things, "bad emulation" because of a post-processing filter is a bit of misleading. The real issue is the filters.

Wonder if the SNES original will ever get re-released, but I know the Super FX chip has some emulation issues, & in all honesty, it runs soooo slow in comparison to SF64.
or maybe Star Fox 2 could finally happen like Earthbound Beginnings?!

Also hoping for some kind of GBA sale since this year is the 15th anniversary, & it actually released this week in Japan (June for US & EU).
Still can't believe they didn't do a 3D Classics of Star Fox SNES. Perfect for 3D. Oh well. I feel like they'll have to remake it eventually since I don't think they'll let it stay on SNES forever.

Have you gotten a quote for repairs from Nintendo? It might be cheaper to get your existing system fixed than to buy a new one.
I don't think I'll do that. Super paranoid about them messing something up and losing my save data. Rather just do a transfer myself when I get a new system.

I've been hoping to hear a bit more about Mutant Mudds Super Challenge. I keep searching to see if somebody posted a thread about it or an OT. The original Mutant Mudds had an OT. I'm planning on getting it when My Nintendo starts in the US.

It's extremely good. Levels are prettier, difficulty has been heightened, but the levels are shorter/less stretched out and now have a checkpoint, so it's very manageable. I'm at 50% of the game and enjoying it even more than the first.

There are also tons of characters to unlock (one per special Game Boy/Virtual Boy stage), I'm playing with Steamworld Dig's Rusty lately (same abilities, different pixel art).

Other than that, it's the same gameplay and qualities, and fits the stereoscopic 3D like a glove. Music is more varied and is great.

Frankly, Xeodrifter had made me doubtful about MMSC (game way too short and poor for the price), but MMSC delivers.

Thanks for the impressions! I'm going to get it for sure. There's an update for the original Mutant Mudds that adds Ghost levels, secret characters, and checkpoints. I just replayed it. It's cool that you can play as Rusty from Steamworld Dig. I wonder if there's a way to use all 3 of the "powers" you can get in the game.

I got Xeodrifter when it was on sale, and I couldn't even figure out where to go at the beginning of the game.

I didn't like the checkpoints in Mutant Mudd's update because it didn't fit the formula IMO, but here it really fits. I guess you can use all three powers once you beat the main game, like in the original.

Xeodrifter is a somewhat poor Metroid. It's still enjoyable but it could have been much more. It's not difficult, you just have to keep trying to progress and you'll find the right way.

Yeah, I was thinking Super Challenge with checkpoints would be better because it was designed that way. Checkpoints made Mutant Mudds a lot easier though, but it was still fun.

I'll give Xeodrifter another try eventually. When I was watching videos of it, it looked like it had a cool upgrade system.

I liked the levels in Mutant Mudds that were designed around all three powers. Those were nice.

I ended up caving and buying MMSC and love it, but it can be brutally hard at times. At the same time I don't think I've run into anything that feels quite as unfair as some of the more precision timing required in the original's harder levels, and the checkpoints help a lot. The secret characters are cool too, with a lot of unexpected guest characters.

As for Xeodrifter, personally it's my favorite Renegade Kid game, and other than the bosses being palette swaps with new moves, it didn't feel lazy to me. It's like a mini love letter to Metroid, and the weapon customization is great. It is short though, at around 3-5 hours to 100% it.

I'm glad people are enjoying this... the first one was great and I actually like it better with checkpoints because it's not nearly as frustrating. MMSC is supposed to be hard, that's how it's been advertised.

I'll give Xeodrifter another shot.

Some of the Sega 3D Classics are on sale for $3.99... But for some reason, not Sonic 2, which is the only one I really wanted.

No but seriously; where is MyNintendo? Would love to buy Yoshi, but I want the extra goodies :p

Which Yoshi game?

Anyway...I hope it's coming soon because I'm waiting to spend my eShop money until I can get points for it... I don't really know how they are going to know when I use the eShop, can't you have a MyNintendo account without linking your NNID?

So I tried Xeodrifter again and quickly found the right way to go, which I somehow missed the first time I tried it. It's pretty fun. The only thing I'm wondering: Is a Checkpoint considered a save or do I have to go back to my ship at the beginning of the planet to save?

My Nintendo should launch either this week or next. The eShop integration obviously isn't going to work if you don't link a NNID.

It seems to be most of the games that won't be on the retail collection hitting soon. The list seems to be:

Space Harrier
Super Hang-On
Ecco the Dolphin
Shinobi III
Streets of Rage
After Burner II
Outrun
Streets of Rage 2
Gunstar Heroes

OUTRUN & GUNSTAR HEROES FOR $4 IS AN AMAZING DEAL, GET THEM......once My Nintendo launches, since the sale ends April 4th.

Having a MyNintendo account without an NNID might limit you to mobile app coin earnings. They should be able to tell when you log into the eShop once you're linked since the eShop tracks like an app for friend list status etc.

I believe you have to go back to your ship. The checkpoints are mainly to let you quickly retry the bosses. I haven't actually tried quitting the game without heading back to the proper save point. The way back is usually at least slightly shorter than the way in though, thanks to the new upgrade.

Yeah, I hope My Nintendo is good. I really liked getting points and rewards with Club Nintendo.

Really enjoying Xeodrifter a lot. And I figured the boss checkpoints wouldn't save the game, but I might test to see if they do later. I have one upgrade left to get (one planet left to explore).

Okay, I just got to the final boss and for some reason, this boss door just has one health box, not the respawning health you get at all the other bosses. To top it all off, after you beat the boss, there's some kind of sequence you have to play afterwards. Anyway, I beat it, but I just thought that was an oversight.

The initial leak of Twilight Princess Picross' had its release date as March 31; so I bet that's when MyNintendo will arrive here.

Waiting until the last possible moment to activate this is, and not only that but making the date a vague "March" instead of outright confirming "March 31", man do I hate that stance on their part.

I'll check my 3DS after finishing up this PxZ2 chapter, but RE Revelations & Mercenaries are discounted as part of the 20th anniversary.

Revelations on Wii U is discounted to $10.

Edit: On 3DS, Revelations & Mercenaries are both $5.
