There's still a lot of stuff coming out.
let it go
Be careful with these words in a world where Shenmue 3, FF7 Remake, The Last Guardian, Beyond Good and Evil 2 and Metroid Prime 4 are a reality... you might get hurt.
what if it's Platinum Games who is working for Prime 4

I seriously hope not, the series needs to return to the safe hands of EAD.
Technically, EAD never worked on Metroid. It was always R&D1's baby, and they were shuttered and mostly transferred to SPD, and that ended up being fused with EAD to become EPD...

and after the series was shithoused off to Retro Studios, I was under the impression that the series would be put on hold indefinitely once Retro turned their attention to Donkey Kong..
Speculation on my part about Fire Emblem Warriors and Xenoblade Chronicles 2 but this is what 2017 is looking like for the Switch.

I'm thinking we'll see Yoshi, Kirby, Pikmin 4, Retro's game / new IP, Pokemon, Smash and Animal Crossing next year.
EDIT: Mario + Rabbids included because it's a game that uses a first party IP primarily.
Careful, junior!
what if it's Platinum Games who is working for Prime 4
Hmm? I didn't think it was a secret that Metroid Prime 1 went through some seriously rocky development. Most people at the time were unhappy with the decision to outsource a Metroid game to a new studio who'd be developing it in 3D.
If this Prime 4 dev team is truly internal, will this be Nintendo's first non-Retro-made FPS? And also the first Japanese FPS in a long time?
- Next Level
Probably MP4
Well, since Duck Hunt (lol), but yes, I think it will be! Which is what makes this so exciting, particularly if the Splatoon guys are involved in some way.

Luigi's mansion 3 would be my guess

Sounds like it! It's interesting how they said they're looking at the first Prime game above others.
There'd be no point putting NLG on it after the reception FF got. Would kill all the hype for it.
I don't think there's any rational reason to assume this is an internal game. Sounds way more unlikely than, for example, suggesting they teamed up with Human Head or NLG or Arkane. Mostly because Tanabe is in charge of external projects.
Where was this said about looking to Prime 1?!
Also, they don't decide devs based on what would create/deflate hype. NLG made a great game with FF, they made another great game just before that. They know the Nintendo-drill.
Luigi's mansion 3 would be my guess
Edit 2: Now the more I think about it, the more Arkane makes sense. Damn you TheMoon, now I'll just be disappointed when it doesn't turn out to be the case!
The media fact sheet says that it "returns to the First Person Adventure roots of the original Metroid Prime game".
Nothing has officially been said that would indicate a Japanese team.Next Level? Wut?
From what they've said, it sounds like a japanese team. But yeah, definitely nothing before 2019.
1) sorry...just threw my fan-fic scenario in there (Human Head, makers of the canned Prey 2) and then added Arkane because they have that Texas immersive sim FPS heritage.

Aside from saying it's a new team so it should be internal. At the very least that discounts Next Level GamesNothing has officially been said that would indicate a Japanese team.
Well, Arkane does make some degree of sense if Nintendo were looking for an external studio to develop a Metroid game, as they have quite a bit of experience working with first person adventure-y games, and as their last two games haven't done particularly well sales-wise, Zenimax may be willing to allow them to work with an external publisher on an established IP. Their Lyon studio appears to still be working on Dishonored, though, and Austin only finished Prey very recently, which would seem to me an extremely quick turnaround from release to disappointing sales to looking for new projects to signing with Nintendo to announcing the game. Perhaps they did the deal before Prey released, if Prey wasn't doing great in pre-orders and they weren't confident about continuing the series, but it still seems like wishful thinking.
Really interested in finding out what Retro is making. I can't see Nintendo not making a new Donkey Kong, especially after their plans to move forward with the Donkey Kong rollercoaster at Universal.
Yet, if Retro hired the Deus Ex composer I can't see him doing the score for a Donkey Kong game. I'm puzzled.
We probably shouldn't go too deep down that rabbit hole.![]()

True, but it's interesting to consider what Nintendo's options would be if they were looking for an external studio for the franchise.
I suspect it's not Donkey Kong, based pretty much entirely on the timing. As they already had a perfectly good HD engine for the game I just don't see them taking so long in development that it wouldn't be ready by the end of this year. I imagine they've been assisting on some EPD games (e.g. Splatoon 2), but I hope the main game they're working on is something new. Nintendo seems more open to that these days with Splatoon and ARMS, so they may well have allowed Retro to have a go at a new franchise.
Does anyone think we might see more surprises for Switch this year? Anything more coming from Nintendo or maybe some more big indie announcements?

I'm almost 100% certain they're acting as a support studio for Metroid Prime 4, either in terms of music or art direction or both.
It'd make sense, especially if they're well into development of their new IP.
Also, they don't decide devs based on what would create/deflate hype. NLG made a great game with FF, they made another great game just before that. They know the Nintendo-drill.

I think we're going to get another Nintendo Indies Direct. I wouldn't be surprised if we have one this month.

I would love to see another Nindies Direct, I want to see dates on Hollow Knight and Owlboy plus some new announcements.
I guess we would see something of the rumoured SNES mini soon as well
Wait...is that why there's no big Switch game in November? Now that I think about it it could be because they're launching a SNES Mini in November. They announced the NES Classic July 14 last year. So, maybe it'll be around that timeframe.
Has the list been updated to take into account all the projects announvced this E3?
I can guarantee you there's no way a Zenimax studio works on it.
About the "they don't decide devs etc". They do. When a game gets a bad reaction when a really hardcore fanbase they are trying to appeal to, they're not going to put them on this again. Even if the game was good and if Nintendo is not having any ill feelings against them, I'm sure they're working on another good game.

Good-Feel has Yoshi UE4, Sakamoto + Mercury Steam is doing MetroidSR. HAL is most likely doing Kirby.
I wonder who is handling Smash, if anyone? Sakurai again?
Also kinda nice to know there's a high chance Retro might be supervising/overseeing, even though they're not directly developing, Metroid Prime 4. Retro is one of Nintendo's few in-house development teams who really know how to push hardware, maybe aside from Monolithsoft.
Speaking of which, which team is best known for pushing Nintendo hardware limits? That used to be Rare, and maybe to a certain extent Factor5 (even though they're technically 3rd party), but as of late Nintendo hasn't had their very own in-house "NaughtyDog" in terms of pushing graphical fidelity.
