Kimishima's answer is great. More importance and listening more, but the board is another matter.
Also guess Reggie is finally getting back together with his former CEO!

(more bad google translations, take with a heap of salt)

First question seems to be about why there's no women on the Board of Directors.

Kimishima: No women on the board, but we use women in product development. The opinions of women when developing products is important. [Something about Reggie I don't understand]

'Reggie's a foreigner and an operating officer' is what was translated

He is pretty much saying that a bunch of females work with reggie. Which is true if you ever watch any of the videos.

Q2. Looking at the balance sheet, I think this is a very good company, but the stock price is low and needs to be increased.

Said every investor that ever lived. What kind of a pathetic question is that?!

Reggie's going to become a woman. You heard it here first.

That's a fairly standard reason to have a diverse board. The other big one is more diverse groups come to better decisions since they have different life experiences.

Might be because Cheese is on Twitter but I'd maybe there was something more to it than just "because females exist." Yes it's a standard reason but... IDK, highlight that part that Kimishima did, that there are more females in game development. Or highlight the importance of that part of the market.

I don't want to sound bad but everything I type comes off poorly.

Is the stock price something that can be increased at will or is this the time for stupid questions?
Well, this thread just got the kiss of death.

A large portion of the 3DS titles demo'd this year at E3 were very much in line with nintendo's gender neutral products: RHM, Ever Oasis, etc.
HoweverI am not sure on dragon quest. I want to say I heard a report that it does better with females, but I am not certain.

EDIT: I do not mean to be negative in this regard. An all-male board is worrying, for sure. But this seems more a byproduct of Nintendo's patented slowness, and there does not appear to be any immediately alarming effects regarding gender representation of their products.

is this your first nintendo meeting of shareholders?

No, but I don't remember the questions being this inane...

Wow, whoever is asking this question is hilarious -
For example, focusing on VR, developing software for elders to exercise and prevent dementia, and other various types of efforts. I would also like a young director to be appointed.
They should just put him in charge.

Question 3 seems to be how the Brexit will affect Nintendo.

Kimishima: Financial markets have become unstable. The appreciation of the yen's value leads to a devaluation of foreign currency assets. Also, for Nintendo UK, safety standards and specifications, such as regarding personal information, would change from EU to British standards.

To be quite honest I have no idea what the board actually does. There are so many levels of abstraction that I don't think the board matters when it comes to creating software for demographics.

Ha that's fair enough. They're basically the highest-ups in the company and work together to decide the companty's direction, and are effectively the CEO's boss (who may also be part of the board, such as in this case)

better than the 'why don't we get better gifts at the investor meeting' question

They have definitely been insane before.

Next question will be: "I don't play video games and don't understand what Nintendo does. My question is why aren't I getting more money off my investment?"

Pretty sure this has been said before.

"I own one share of Nintendo kajiggers so I'm entitled to some answers. Question 1: Why does no one visit me in my home?"

.@NStyles Q3. It's been reported that Great Britain is leaving the EU. Does this affect Nintendo, and if so, what are you doing about it?

SEE?

There was a time when just some guy walk into a meeting, not knowing what it was and got to ask Iwata is he was the president of Nintendo.

They very much get more inane than this.

"We're closing down Nintendo UK offices. Fuck those wankers."

:p

I love you, Britain.

I remember a couple years ago, one even asked if Nintendo would make gambling games targeted at kids.

You joke but that is more or less what one of the investors said at a previous meeting:
I do not understand video games and I even feel angry because, at Nintendo’s shareholders’ meetings, the shareholders always discuss things relating to video games or such childish topics as “what the future of video games should be,” while I, for one, was flabbergasted that Mr. Iwata continues to hold his position although he had said that he would resign if the company’s performance were bad.
