Has anyone seen creatures this big yet?

Diplo-1024x576.png

I'd like to know this as well.

Uhh.... my ship landed on a floating rock and I fell off when i got out, its too high for the jet pack. My game saved before I realised my ship was too high (I thought it was on a big mushroom) Is there anything I can do? The planet is all super toxic too :(

So the game apparently "auto-pinned" one of my recipes for a multi-tool upgrade. I didn't pin shit. My tool is filled up, no empty slots, but in the corner of the screen it is always nagging me to build this upgrade. And I can't build it, my tool is full and I don't want it anyway haha.

I think NMS hits it just fine. Seriously. The only thing I had to ask the community for help on was the warp cell thing and that was only because I missed the quest due to the DLC ship. Maybe it's due to being a gamer who is 38 years old, and thus have experienced games back in the day that gave you absolutely nothing to go on, but I'm not seeing the confusion.

Different gamers have different levels of interaction with games. It's nearly impossible to plan for that stuff, so you add UI elements to further explain things. Sometimes you do it organically, like having the ships float above an area, giving you another way of notifying the player that there's a landing strip location.

But other things, like Sent levels of aggro and why they give a shit if I pluck a bulb off a tree on one planet and why they don't on the next need to be fleshed out (obviously I know about the "number" of them listed, but the game does nothing to inform of you of why they act the way they do per planet when you arrive).

It's really best to inform the player whenever possible without being intrusive, but sometimes it's a necessity. NMS explains some things both ways, but leaves other things out.

Not saying they should account for literally everything, but the upgrades and other common questions really need to be fleshed out more.

That sucks. The only thing I can think of is to hoof it to an outpost where you can use a bypass chip to recall your ship.

So i just encountered a strange but kind of cool bug. So i was in a rush to buy this sweet new ship with 5 more inventory slots than i currently had and forgot to transfer all my cargo. Realizing what i had done, i immediately loaded up the previous save file (nice feature). This is where the bug occured. When the game loaded back up, my ship inventory was all back, had my old number of inventory slots, but...now my actual ship was the exact design of the ship that i tried to buy!

I say its a kind of cool bug because the new ship looks WAY cooler, but at the same time it doesnt have the 5 extra slots.

Edit: after numerous crashes the ship reverted back to what it was supposed to be.

Made it to my first really hostile planet. My god. 150C temp. Even with the upgrade to the suit it still burns through the thermal protection in less than 60 seconds. During storms it touches 400C.

But my word is it chock full of rare mats. I'll have to get some shots as I explore this bitch.

I must've missed the distress beacon right at the start, to eager to go off exploring, have I missed much from not following the atlas? I still got tutorials to build the ship etc. Oddly, some NPC conversations mention the atlas and two other 'mysterious benefactors' as if I already knew about them. Have I missed any other tutorials or story?

if you guys were avoiding the "you can't see other players" thread. you should give it another shot. it's turned into something beautiful

You could try finding an outpost with a beacon that will let you call your ship.

Also be on the lookout for caves, buildings, and drop pods to try and keep your hazard module charged.

Can you shoot the rock?
Otherwise the small villages with the landing pad has a device on it which calls your ship over... Could be a long walk though

2. That gold star means the trader is interested in those specific items and will pay more for it. I figured it out on my own after repeatedly encountering it and selling different items with gold stars. You know, playing the game? Testing shit out?

Seriously, are gamers in 2016 are so entitled that they get angry when they have to figure shit out on their own?

Yeah, I assumed that's what the star meant, but I still don't know for sure. Was it fun to try to figure out what it meant? Not really, more annoying than anything. There's enough in this game to figure out besides trying to also parse how the interface works.

I think next someone is going to say that including a screen showing what the controller buttons do was pandering to casuals. :P

Is there a map for the current solar system you are visiting? I know there is a galactic map when you warp travel but I don't think there is one for he solar system?

Why is there no rotation?

Apparently it was disorienting for testers.

I think a lot of people on GAF would defend this game to their own death against the slightest criticism, however deserved it is or is not.

Not yet but I made a quick list of tips so far based on this thread. Adding the different types of boost and the bit about planning your inventory/upgrade connectors now.

THANK YOU!

I just wanna say, I'm really enjoying this game. It's so relaxing to just play and I find myself getting absorbed into the experience. Honestly, I didn't read much about it, knew I wanted to play it when it came out. Didn't want anyones opinions affecting my view of it. and I'm really enjoying it. Well done HG :)

No not at all. I have found all blueprints needed to craft the mats required to charge the hyperdrive. I redeemed my preorder ship on the starter planet.

I dont think I have a blueprint to actually craft a hyperdrive but so far every ship Ive come across has one already.

Awesome thanks! I spent like 4 hours exploring the starting planet and it would suck if I had to start all over again.

So now after the bug i encountered (couple posts above) it seems my game is broken, i cant warp to ANY new star systems, it crashes every time...

Can someone explain to me what's the bug with the preorder ship? Sorry if it has been answered a million times already but didn't knew about that until now.

If I already switched ships and hyperdrived it to the second planet am I screwed? >_<
Depends, if you go to a space station do the ships offered there have hyperdrives?
Fantastic! Thanks Hawk! Always appreciated your guides for Destiny. Was fun running a few raids with you as well.

Cheers!
Cheers to you! Hope the hyperdrive thing didn't affect you :)

It's great but I have never won a dog fight. The starships aren't very easy to manoever wish they controlled more like Warhawk.

Anyone know how to win?

1. The upgrades take minimal resources. You can farm the necessary components within 5 minutes.

Thanks for the 'gold star' tip.

And I know exactly what you mean. Handholding era we live in. I do not want every game to be like this, but I am glad this one is, and I see why it is. It ads to the discovery, wether you utilize a community or through self, or both (like I do). Like I said before, reminds me of the old school adventure games of the 80's on the C64/Amiga/PC.

Thank you sir!

So no planet rotation but are the planets even orbiting? From that time lapse it looks like that moon is not orbiting around the planet so do the planets even orbiting around the star?

Also the gold star thing is super obvious guys. Read the text. The stuff with the gold star is shown selling at like +100% galactic average. It's fairly obviously the gold star just means that that thing is selling at a high price

Someone said the mining laser is better to lay dudes out.

Ships do get faster, but since upgrades between ships aren't too drastic, it's an uphill battle. Unless I'm missing a movement option.

Goddamn I'd kill for 3rd person, at the very least.

Holy crap space pirates. Died four times. And then died once landing on an extremely hostile planet trying to run away from them :-) I'm going back to a safer planet to level up my ship before trying to go out to those trader systems again....

Cool, didn't know you could switch weapons in it, guessing the button is triangle same as the multi-tool. Will have to try it out.

Anyone able to kill the dog like drones?

Everytime I see them (usally from looting one of the green ! items) one spawns with 2 flying buddies. I can "kill" it easy but its eye light sperates from the body and even though its dead I can still here it and the red arrow doesn't go away.

The rock too far for the plasma grenade (or whatever it is) I do have a by pass chip though so it looks like I gotta find me an outpost.

Cheers!

Hope not too.. I did accept my limited edition ship when I first started the game, so just crossing fingers I get the hyperdrive quest...

Just found a spot on a planet with huge Emeril deposits with a trading hub in between them. 500 Emeril is netting me approx 140,000 units. I'll have a good sized ship in no time at all.

Found a ship with perfect slotting and an already upgraded warp drive.
Was 300k short because I just spent that much on suit upgrades.

DAMN!

Also checked. I can still build a warp drive. Luckily not affected by pre-order glitch.

Has HG said anything about adding stuff through updates? I think this is a great game to build on.

They said they plan on rolling out updates like the first one. They also mentioned what they are working on next.

Next up we’re adding the ability to build bases and own giant space freighters. Temporal AA and my new cloud rendering tech should be coming soon too. It will really change the game again, and enhance it visually.

Has anyone from Hello Games said anything about the limited edition PS4 theme not being a dynamic theme like advertised? Kinda really annoying because if I'm being honest, it was a big selling point for me, given the superb art direction, wanted that on my PS4. But it's just a static background and some music...

Getting real bad graphical bugs today. Objects are appearing broken/ artifacting.

Is anyone else getting this issue? It happens on both of my ps4s. I started a new game thinking it was a bad save but it's still happening.

What types of guns are you using against the pirates? It takes practice to get good using photon cannons. I'd suggest building some mining lasers + Upgrades (if you have them) and using those instead, at least until you get some practice in with the photons.

Mining lasers don't require you to aim at a certain spot. You really just need to have the enemy on screen and the lasers will auto-aim. They're not as quick fire as the photons, but with the right upgrades you can decrease the recharge time. With my set up, it takes about 4 - 7 hits with a laser to kill an enemy starship. It seems tough, but because they lock on, it's no big deal.

I'm going to upgrade mine a bit more before I start attacking the cargo ships. They've all got containers on them, and it's likely that those containers have good stuff.

When I first started fighting these guys, I had a bad habit of staying still and dumping on them. My deflectors went down pretty easily, and I died more frequently. Learn how to maneuver your ship, and don't forget that you can use R1 & L1 to roll. It really helps when you've got a lot of them swarm you.

Yea, there are some really rich planets. I found one littered with gold over almost every hill.
Cashed in and bought a 1.5M ship.

My game has had "lost connection to online services" for the last hour or so, does that mean my uploads aren't really being uploaded?

Also, once I do rename and upload, can I rename it again?

Awesome thanks! I spent like 4 hours exploring the starting planet and it would suck if I had to start all over again.

My advice is unless you really like the looks of a planet move on to further systems :). I do make a point of visiting each planet.
